In principle, you can say that, but it depends on what you actually want to express. Studieren can mean both a detailed examination of a subject and explicitly learning at a university. It is more commonly used for the latter.

Therefore, I recommend using studieren for the university context and lernen for a private context. Simply so that there is less confusion.

This is a bigger problem than you might think. Swiss German (Schweizerdeutsch) is very specific; many people see it more as a language in its own right than a German dialect, and only Swiss people really understand it. So only a Swiss person will be able to help you properly.

I also have a dryer that I hardly ever use. Here's why. Firstly, it uses more energy and is more of a luxury than a necessity; clothes dry anyway, it just takes a little longer. Secondly, it puts more strain on clothes and causes them to wear out faster, which is also not economical. The same applies to the washing machine. In the USA, for example, top-loading washing machines are much more popular than in Germany. One of the reasons for this is that the screw or spiral (?) that mixes the clothes in the washing machine damages them and you cannot use the space efficiently if you cannot stack the machines.

My point is, why have them to dry clothes as an option that we have to pay for and they dont work? I would argue forcing me to run the dryer for 2.5 hours to get dried clothing is way more energy intensive than a 30-45min cycle that drys them fully. We are not allowed/supposed to use drying racks in the rooms, so we have to use the racks in the laundry room but with 60+ people and a small room...yea.

They also seem to just vent into the room, which i find strange. In the USA they vent outside.

Duolingo is a decent resource to start with if you're a complete beginner, but it's neither efficient nor comprehensive!

What Duolingo will teach you about grammar is very limited, and none of the systems they use will help you practise much of it.
You can learn some vocabulary with it, but their method (based on the concept of spaced repetition) doesn't work for everybody, and the way Duolingo teaches is not very effective compared to the amount of time it requires from you.

So, if you find it useful, by all means keep using it, but remember not to fall for its gamification of language learning, and move past it when it stops being beneficial. Ignore the streaks.

In any case, keep in mind that Duolingo is not enough to learn a language, ever.

You're also projecting your own preferences onto others and pressuring someone to make a drastic change in life plans just because of your personal experience, without even considering why that person might want to move to that country, or how biased your experience is.
