Ya I mean technically English isn’t a native language for many Indians
In that they speak a local dialect at home
well Indians dont typically learn it in one month
Well ya but if you’re kinda immersed in the language it can feel like 1 month
One MONTH
Just like people say that they could instantly understand English…annoying but people say it
For an analytical based major person you lack a lot of critical thinking
Bro you haven’t seen the ppl saying
Not sure how you can say some of this stuff without trolling
Its called fantasy
And like you know not to take that at face value
Exactly
Lol claiming to be fluent faster than a literal baby that was raised in an English speaking country is wild
I know man it’s nonsense
But it’s common unfortunately
You discredit his ability to learn English in one month but not the statement of 8 fluent languages when one was spoken with errors, the one most likely to be ones best

I do like to say I've always been fluent in fax tho
One month isn't instantly but also how does one even learn in one month? Maybe if they usb'd it in idk
Of course one cannot learn a language in one month, unless that language is more of a dialect. However, with enough time and effort one can speak eight languages. They need not be perfect, and one need not have perfect English to speak it and to speak other languages.
Well, one can learn some language in one month but certainly not 0 to fluent
I'd say getting to a2 might be possible, maybe.
For someone particularly talented. I ain't one of those
You yourself sent me the video of the man speaking six languages. Surely if six are possible, eight are too? And like I said just because he makes some mistakes doesn’t mean he doesn’t speak the language
I would say he speaks English
From what I can see
There are people speaking a lot of languages. It's not a question of capacity. A human can learn a lot. It's just a question of time and dedication.
Exactly my point.
Not disagreeing, just adding a cent
sasha is a russian name
Sasha is a slavic name
yeah
hi chat
hi summe
what's up
how r u
ohh pray tell
I'm glad that some people are finally waking up and realising that learning languages isn't an easy thing to do
like 5 of them are native languages
Folks who believe such ridiculous claims are usually monolinguals who get tricked by the fluency illusion
Ive been ostracized for my beliefs for 10 years
they even took my bonks for it 🥀
God gave me a secret message that I would be happy this year and didnt disappoint thats all i can say
I guess it is hard to be critical without sounding rude
Its like learning most other skills
was the message end-to-end encrypted?
how'd god send the message?
Other things do play a part, like how much time is spent practising or studying etc..
Ive studied once more in one month than in the past 4 years combined, hours is certainly more important than years - and quality ones at that
Yeah, so the guy didn’t say he learned eight foreign languages. For all I know, he could have five native languages and have learned three foreign languages.
I’ll be the last person to say someone can learn a language in a month or even a year, but without knowing how old someone is or how many native languages he has, I’m not gonna say it’s impossible for him to know let’s say eight languages. Five native languages + 4 years of study/language starting at age 18 -> 30-year-old who speaks eight languages.
ill bet you a month of nitro that is not the case
Ok 🫃
That's really rare
More than normal? Sure. Unheard of? Nah. There’s an Indian guy I don’t remember his name who knows i believe ten languages including many local Indian ones
He’s on this server somewhere
How do you know that he speaks them well? Is there any proof?
Ravi Kumar Chikhaliya?
Well I don’t know for sure, but he also wasn’t making money off of it on YouTube, he just mentioned it in passing in discord
in India and Brazil there are epidemics of claiming such
How he spent lots of time in different parts of India
Let me see if I can find
Well that is quite impossible
Ten is not impossible however especially if some are closely related
I watched this fake polyglot investigation on YT about an Indian "hyper polyglot" and it turned out that the only language he actually decently spoke was German lol
He claimed 40 languages
Yeah this guy isn’t an influencer or anything
Akram
and evildea
lmao..
Yes
Doesn't prove anything
yes basically none of them actually speak a foreign language fluently besides english
like maybe 10% of people
Evildea speaks fluent Esperanto tho
i meant of those who claim to be polyglots n shi
Nope, I’m just saying yall are talking about something that’s a completely different topic
She was good at sounding like a native to some extent
She was a true fraud
Creating this fluency illusion
which also proved to me - ive seen almost no one who can produce a good latin accent (spanish , french) AND germanic (german) or vice versa
richard simcott is one of the few
I mean, I can understand most Arabic dialects, does that necessarily mean that I speak them? No.
I’d like to see a good Latin accent
🫃
Absence of German accent is cooler tho
Despite my fluency in English, I still don't sound like a native
Just the study of English native accents is a whole other lore
i meant german accent in german
I know I know
What kinda German accent tho
Swiss German?
manchmal sollten träume träume bleiben
Bavarian?
whatever accent this dude has
I will probably study German phonetics once I'm back to learning German
I wanna sound as much as I could like a native
Which dude-

When you sound like a native let @left jolt know
Yeah, one day inshallah XD
@left jolt if an 18-year old American said he grew up monolingual English, started learning foreign languages at the age of 14, and is now fluent in eight languages, then I would say no, that is impossible
Then you have to do shadowing
I wouldnt say impossible Id say what Ive always said - highly unlikely that I dont believe it to be true but theoretically probable
Well, true, he could have enrolled at the FSI for example, or chosen related languages.
That's a good take
like python or rust
Well if he enrolled at FSI id say impossible 😂
But let’s say, if he said he started learning at the age of 17, is now 18 and speaks eight languages fluently, I would say that is impossible for all reasonable purposes.
It's easy to become a polyglot if all you do is constructed languages like Toki Pona that are meant to be easy
Yes Id call fraud
Yet if I do not know the age of the person, he could very well be a slightly older person who has simply put in time and effort to learn multiple languages.
the problem is that even in those cases most are frauds
With all respect to the earlier user who claimed to speak 8 languages fluently, he sounded like a kid
guys did yk that im actually fluent in 1 259 723 languages 😌 😌
boring
typical of a german
If that is true, then he still could be someone with multiple native languages
🇦🇹
I do not know
Unlikely but ye
guys what do yall consider a polyglot
4-5 foreign languages at C level
A German who is successfully pretending to be American
Someone who speaks 5 languages fluently or at least up to a high level
Obviously
okay so 5
if they actually speak 4 languages at C1 thats a polyglot to me
well i got german and english
everything else is underdeveloped
foreign*
Oh, I meant 5 languages in total not only foreign
So yeah, I agree
i speak french at like b1
and chinese isn't even a1 because progress is slow as hell
its an 8 year journey
8-10
No because polyglot to me is intentional
True
the thing is that
Its been adapted to a lifestyle and now abused by frauds
what even counts as a language
one of the 7800
no
Whatever is unintelligible to me or very different
watch this
To me it just means someone who speaks multiple languages, irrespective of how they learned it
Then they are multilingual
look up the polyglot conference
its a very intentional lifestyle
Btw how the hell do you post YouTube links without them getting terminated here
put them in < >
u dont even need to do that

we have freedom
Damn when they gonna launch a multilingual conference then

if theres truly someone with 4 native languages and none foreign then they arent part of the language learning community and thus do not care
I agree lol
Danke
But they speak multiple languages at a native level and that’s like relevant for idk translation or other stuff
Not for translation thats a very specific skill you need to learn
It could be a networking event to find such opportunities
Well ya but it’s a foundation to build upon
That wouldn't be fair to polyglots who actually spent years and years studying foreign languages
Can’t translate if you don’t know the language
most people cant translate professionally in their native languages
just cuz they speak em
Well ya, but even fewer can translate in foreign languages
Yeah I agree
My native is Arabic. My skill at using Arabic when discussing complex topics has deteriorated tbh because of my focus on English
I forgot a lot of terms
They are there but I struggle to recall them
They do come back to me tho
Its also extremely exhausting
Which is why being a polyglot is a very high level skill that should be respected and not used by just any random person lmao
What do you think of Steve Kaufmann lmao
His french is not what Id call fluent
does iclal have a good arabic accent
iclal=?

Lemme check
It's just OK as in understandable
But she definitely does sound like a foreigner
Keep in mind that she's speaking MSA which is partially artificial like Standard German, so a lot of us Arabs fail at nailing MSA accent
The best ones are Arabs who practice their MSA and some Israelis
Does she have a turkish accent
Nah, although idk what a Turkish accent is lol
She pronounces most letters just fine
She struggles with the ع sound
Typical
Yep

I think if you look at people who learn languages for YouTube vs people who learned the languages in a natural way such as by moving to different countries (or even learning for fun), you will find that the latter are more proficient. YouTube rewards appearances, while real life is about effective communication. However, this means that you’re less likely to see the latter since they’re just going about their business in multiple languages
Yes and no
Some of those yt do just that
and some who are just regular joes live in a country for 20 years and dont speak the language
Easy. Its just an E but spoken more round
And the upper part is less pronounced
Indeed, real life is about effectiveness. If you reach a point, where you can understand most things and most people understand you, you might come to a halt.
Your grammar might be broken but it's enough to get along because it's not really needed to express what you want.
The rail network is getting better soon Yay
Hm yeah, I suppose on YouTube you see a fraction of those people. Of the non-YouTubers, some aren’t even good enough to look good on YouTube, sure. However, I also believe some are better than the YouTubers. These people may say they know “enough” or “a little bit” of several languages, when actually they are quite good at them. They just don’t see it that way, because it comes naturally to them and it is simply how they get by. So yeah, maybe the average non-YouTuber isn’t better than the average YouTuber; however, I still believe the best non-YouTuber may very well be better than the best YouTuber.
It's not a vowel, it's a consonant
Learners often pronounce it as a vowel because they fail at producing the correct sound
It's a sound that comes very deep from your throat
It also existed in Hebrew but modern Hebrew speaker can't pronounce it no more, so they just pretend like it's a vowel
You didn't get my joke
It kind of looks like an E but rounder
Exactly, and the ß is pronounced like a B but rounder

And more open
Indeed

Hallo
Hallo
When was the first announcement of it btw?
Im a bit confused
Normally at least 3 days in advanced, normally I try to do it even earlier.
But it’s every Tuesday so there isn’t really an announcement needed for regulars.
I will try to join next time
Nice!
I’m a bit curious: what about this server incentivizes native speakers to keep participating here? Do people actually unofficially use this as an opportunity to practice English, even though it’s not called German-English Exchange, or you all just here for the vibes?
Vibes
People are here for different reasons, some are looking for language exchange partners, doesn’t have to be English. Some are here for the vibes, some are also like to teach people.
so that i can abuse my mod powers
🗣️
I’m asking because from my experience as an admin in the servers I’ve been part of, it’s quite difficult to get natives to stay unless either there’s an already established community, or you structure the server so that they get something in return
Yeah I think we should get money in return for being here
True
I think that most people just stay because it's a nice and friendly community. And many of them are generally interested in languages and language learning too.
wait let me pose

We prioritise learning quite a lot. Maybe other servers don't?
The thing with German speakers I noticed is it’s way too one-sided. As in the English level of German speakers are overwhelmingly at different stages compared to the German levels of most English speakers, so it’s actually kinda difficult to find natives to practice with for German unless like you suggested they actually get somehow otherwise compensented
This is especially true on Hellotalk etc
I don't find it difficult. If you just make friends with someone they will usually be happy to speak German with you.
But even easier is finding B2 people to speak with so also consider that.
Idk tandem programs have never really been interesting to me because I have to like someone first to put in the effort to teach and talk to them a lot. But we have a nice community which is the main reason ppl stay on here
I think a lot of people just join because they're already interested in those things and stay because the community is nice
That’s what I’ve been doing all this time. Unironically people on r/Germany have suggested the best way to actually force yourself to only speak German (irl) is with immigrants that don’t speak good English and are also learning German
Yep thats true
A lot of ppl in the vcs have a really limited english knowledge
The English level isn't really that important. B2 speakers in general are just in a position where they can speak German relatively well and also are really eager for more practice with proper conversations.
C1 usually too.
Because Germans just default back to English. You get indulged by that, so you never end up actually using German
Forcing yourself to practice is a you problem. It's not about the practice partner.
Yea that's also the case for me
I’m talking about an anedote I’ve seen spoken about irl, not here, and this is not about me
I’m a third person here
I don't get why that's relevant to what I said? My response is the same regardless of whether it's about you or something you heard.
Ideally you just force yourself to speak a language but thats not very practical
It is the most practical option.
I'm not sure I worded it correctly
I don't think its very practical to basically switch your main language especially when your German isn't really food
Good
I don't really get what you mean, sorry.
Well, we can agree to disagree there’s circumstantial reasons and moments during which it may not be the most practical thing to stay faithful to, but in a perfect world, you’re right
What I'm saying is that the thing which will matter as to whether you will practice or not, is your choice to practice. Of course you need some person to talk to who also speaks German, but whether they're a native speaker or not, can speak English or can't, the obstacle of choosing to practice is still there.
I don’t eat German.
If you're saying that your obstacle to practicing is that you always switch to another language, then you're just going to have the same problem with someone who only speaks German, except instead of switching languages, you just won't talk to them.
Gosh, it’s sooo hard to break the ice with German on there. Especially since German culture isn’t super keen on random small talk either. It’s talks a lot of effort to get convos going
I feel like Germans here are very open. 👀 but if you come to a big city like Frankfurt it is true, most people will prefer to talk English if it is easier for the other person.
Though sometimes not having that “lingua franca” to default back to does creates strong situational incentives to keep you always focused on the target language
Everyone is different. Some people just need to find motivation coming from the outside
On this server, absolutely. It’s still a very anonymous place. But when you have to meet face to face on the street or on one of those one-on-one language exchange apps it’s a different story
If it's a situation like you live/work with that person, sure. If it's the kind of situation you're talking about like being in VC with someone, no, I don't think so.
The same lack of motivation that leads to switching languages will equally lead to you switching partners.
Ohhh absolutely. I was only referring to irl. I wasn’t talking the vcs
The best thing is to force German to the German, I have some none natives friends from here and they often answer in German when I speak English to them. 😅
So I Switch too. (But sometimes they switch.
)
Btw, on a different note, anyone noticing a recent uptick of US-Americans on here?
Or nothing has changed in your experience?
I’ve had to do that at some points with my friend from Spain haha
I think US people have always been the biggest demographic (according to the Discord demographics).
I’m curious if recent events are affecting anything. There’s been more people wanting to leave
Wouldn’t be surprising.
And usually this is when people that are not otherwise especially interested in other languages start looking at languages
where can i upload studying resources to this server ?
You need to reach escape velocity to where you're not regarding German as an obstacle but as a means to communication that is inherently different to the other one(s). In principle one needs to learn how to think directly in German without relying on English as a middle man (by cultivating your abilities, immersing yourself in the language, and communicating/thinking in German as much as possible).
For the above mentioned one needs a sizeable vocabulary as well as the ability to flexibly deploy it to avoid getting into a verbal dead end.
So yea it is indeed not practical for quite a vast period of time (until you break the escape velocity and gain a degree of sovereignty in the language), as a matter of fact, I feel like I have stagnated in some regards as far as other areas of knowledge are concerned. It's a tough trade to make.
what im experiencing right now is that verbal dead end
sometimes i just cannot find the words to speak or give opinion towards something
I know that feeling bro
fear is number one , second thing is that i lack a little bit of vocabulary and my brain always tends to think about grammar
It gets better if you deal with each verbal dead end, one at a time, as they come.
Feel unsatisfied with an answer? Note it. Then, later, go through what went wrong, what you didn't know, and try and learn the necessary vocab/structures that concern exactly that one thought that you weren't able to express
The good thing about us people is that at our core we are immutable to an extent
yes of course , its in every life situation
i look at it as its you have a bad week or period and then everything turns well structured and maintained
This means that if you deal with enough verbal dead ends, you're bound to run out
and reach a point where you're somewhat satisfied with your control of the language
i have another problem which is that i do not want to rely on the Sprachschule alone , i want to practice at home too
i want a well maintained daily routine but seems like i cannot find the ideal one haha
yea thats exactly what you need to do
sprachschule alone won't help much
german needs to infiltrate practically all areas of your life
and thought
i made lots of a research but it leads to the same dead end or dead point yeah?
some people advice for passive input
and other people say that you need also to rely on yourself too
you are bound to start thinking in german sooner or later, and the earlier you start doing it, the better
i've been doing that since day one
since september actually
good man
think auf Deutsch haha
passive input serves as literal food for thought
if you don't chew on it you're gonna have trouble digesting it
but if you have a pdf or a note that is useful
a good routine to practice it i won't say no of course
that actually will be super awesome and good from you
I'm afraid I can't help you with that
Don't have any
all is good i think this part has to be done for me , finding that perfect suitable daily routine that will make the path even easier and better
but for real though thanks for the chat
@pulsar steppe actually a friend who learned german has given me lots of notebooks
i think i will rewrite that into a new notebook
U germans can understand dutch?
that will help memorize the words and the grammatik case
dont you think?

they didn´t reply to my email within a week so i tried to call them, but their numbers were switched off (even thought i called them during the available timings) Then i asked a relative to visit their office (since i live pretty far away). They said that since i´m under 18, all the documents/registrations/bookings will have my guardian´s name instead of mine. Once i turn 18, i can request to change the name to mine (free of cost).
But i highly recommend calling your Goethe center to ask them beforehand. (even if it takes mutliple phone calls lol)
Sounds complicated.
honestly yes. I´m just relieved i don´t have to pay 30$ MORE when the exam itself was 240$ approx.

hi
Hi, my name is Clara and I live in the United States. I am 36 years old and would like to meet some people my age or slightly older so that we can have some common topics to talk about. My languages are Chinese and English. If you want to learn, I can teach you. In return, you can also teach me some other languages. I am very interested in the culture of other countries
Hello
#1065443550004781067 is a better place for this. Also welcome to the server. :)
Guys, I would like to learn German but sometimes I am frustrated a bit. I heard that people who know Hochdeutsch will go for example to Austria and they have a problem to understand Austrians. Similar in Switzerland, I know how it sounds. 😄 I would like to learn it because I am interested also in travelling a lot but when I hear in every German-speaking country it is different I am not motivated much. Any advice for me?
Learn basic german and you'll be able to communicate in every german-speaking country - with different success
uh haha difficult with Swiss but u will never need it anyways
everyone speaks hochdeutsch u will be fine
you’re really good
what’s hochdeutsch
Was ist “Gedicht” auf Englisch
Standard German
Es ist "poem"
danke danke
Kein Problem
All German speaking countries know standard German or hochdeutsch so you shouldn't worry about communication at all if you learn standard German
Hi
Can someone help me?
Du doch nicht
Does anyone know what it means specifically?
something like "But you don't/aren't"
sum like anyone but you
Mama: Wer hat den Keks gegessen?
Kind: hihihi ich nicht....
Mama: neee, du doch nicht! (I know it was you, you idiot)
It's often used sarcastically like that
When it's very obvious
Sag bloß! Das wusste ich nicht!
Deswegen sage ich es dir ja auch!
Vielen dank
hihihihihi
That’s something you should worry about more at C1 than A1
i have cousins living in central/eastern europe (czechia, slovakia, etc...) and they told me that when they talk to another person from a different country (in the same region), they don't understand every word the other person said, but generally, they can get 80% of what is it about. therefore different languages in a region of europe can still be understandable, and in your case it's dialects, so i think if you are good enough in german you can still understand and communicate with swiss/austrians/...
hihihihihihihihi
hii
unless it’s southern english with northern scottish 😭
Is anyone doing german a level
The exams tomorrow and I wanna know if anyone has any predictions for Goodbye Lenin and Der Besuch der Alten Dame
Or any tips on how to structure the essay
Or any tips on sentence starters/ sentences that use the subjunctive?
Yeah that's generally true, I can understand some Slovene and Bulgarian, and a lot of Macedonian
been learning german for about two years and i havent fully understood the word doch

No fact-checking: Tools like ChatGPT are very good at writing texts and often provide answers that sound good, but they are not capable of fact-checking their own answers.
-
Fake information: It’s very common for these programs to make up fake or incomplete information, which is explained convincingly but is mostly wrong.
-
Non-deterministic: The information is also partially randomly generated, meaning that if you ask the same question multiple times, you will usually end up with different answers.
-
No language knowledge: It shouldn't be used for grammar or vocabulary questions, as it doesn't understand linguistics, nuance, or how a native speaker might actually use a given word or grammar point.
-
Missing context: When correcting texts it needs to understand what the writer was trying to express. As such it may miss mistakes or correct things that don't need to be corrected.
-
It delays the development of important skills in language learning.
Relying too much on AI generated texts or solutions may get in the way of learning the necessary skills of language acquisition, such as how to look up words or phrases in a dictionary, using critical thinking, or actually applying learned concepts. -
AI is not designed to guide learners.
If you ask an AI a question, it will provide you with information, whereas if you ask a human, they will ideally ask you to show your understanding and offer advice on how to find the answer. -
AI output requires scrutiny
AI output must be verified, but beginners to German or to language learning often lack the knowledge or experience to do so.
- Ask ChatGPT to come up with some story ideas that you can write about.

@hot cloak disarms you and gives you a taste of your own medicine. Serves you right.

Well it’s etymologically related to English though which helps, and another one of its major uses is like to contradict a negative statement
A: Du bist kein Artzt ja?
B: Doch!
Wir haben "doch" in meiner Muttersprache (ish) und ich verstehe das noch nicht
Wo kommst du her?
Norwegen
Ahhhhh
Das ist oft ein Teil Mitteleuropäischen Sprachen
Ok Norwegen ist kein mitteleuropäisches Land, aber du wisst was ich meine

Hallo
Hallo

Hallo zusammen

e
@sick salmon either is fine
i just didnt understand the A levels subjects thing
what does that mean ?
do u know what A-levels is?
no
uhhh okay where are you from then
if you're anywhere from india/pak/bangla you should have A-levels offered in your country
no
algeria specifically
here is the email response they gave me
With your qualifications you are not eligible to study directly at a German university. First you
must pass the "Feststellungsprüfung" (university qualification exam) at a "Studienkolleg"
(preparatory college) in Germany. This university does not offer a Studienkolleg. You can find
information about Studienkollegs at www.studienkollegs.de/home.html
okay give me a second
okay yeah A-levels aren't offered in algeria 😭
okay well in that case, the easiest option is indeed studienkolleg
fair enough
yeahh, good luck then, you can use #1033125270217048246 to post a forum if you want more information from someone else here
unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the studienkolleg process
hell yeah
just you tagging that chat is more than helpful
or uk :3
That slow burn wait while it gets dark
Cruising the sun, I feel grown up with you and your car
I know, it's dumb

Awwww
Do you guys think it would be worth getting an in person language class to get started
Because getting started is arguably the hardest part for me
Yes, that can be helpful.
I probably will then

Chat thoughts on reading children’s books to learn words?
If you enjoy it, why not.
Resource for German children’s books.
www.einfachvorlesen.de
Oh my goodness
You saved me so much time
Its not particularly as "easy" as you may anticipate, if thats the reasoning
New book every week.
new witcher book?
I was thinking children books would help me learn words easier without correlating them to English
I want to know words by concept not
By English
Just remember kids books / shows (in majority) are created for an audience that has been learning German for 4-8 years already
The great thing about being an adult is I understand the concept of language so I can learn both at once
More to web thoughts from I mean
It’s just a method I’m going to try to incorporate while studying
That only alleviates part of the process but it objectively helps to some measure, yes
Mhm my main focus is listening and reading capabilities
Children’s book.
Ja, and more so: native speakers learn in a different order to adult learners. So the grammar can be very advanced in some ways, once it gets to books with full sentences.
Although something like this is totally fine. (Just looking at the 1 years old books on the thing Rin linked.)
Pfffttt
That was my thoughts exactly
Why learn only like a child when o can do so much more with what I know
But that's a reason NOT to use children's books for learning.
I was going to use them because they would allow me to understand word order & important common words
I'm saying that native speaker children learn in a different order compared to you. So the material for children is not as suitable compared to material for adult learners.
You don't have to use children's books. You can use beginner adult learner books.
The difference here is the children largely know these common words and they intuitively know word order - it is a different approach fundamentally
Yes of course
If you where try to learn like a child you would need 8+ years
I feel I’m missing the point
It sounding ignorant
Like people tout Harry Potter as a "beginner friendly, childrens book" but in actuality to read it at the same degree of a native teenager (at a normal speed and understanding 98% or more disregarding made up words) you would need to be B2
Same with childrens books
Best suitable for A2/B1
Hrrmmm
Like le petit Prince
I think I might just need to get A1 with a structured learning class or try more methods
You are saying Harry Potter and children’s books are in the same level?
No I was just pointing out childrens books are higher level than people assume
The majority of them that is
Nope, DW German and a Translator site is my go to
Do you reckon you could point it out given a sentence?
Harry Potter is a children's book.
My English reading level must be trash
And I’m a native 😭
It's for around 10-12 year olds or something like that.
But then again my books go from like Harry Potter and other fantasy to lord of the rings
Way different reading level
If you mean words yes
The ones I know so far to a degree I mean
What are these ?
Imma take a section from a song and write a list of whats in it (grammar functions, etc) and you match them to the lyrics, ok?
Alright I’ll attempt but remember I’m not that studied even in A1 level
I still lack many fundamental words
Ok ill take a simple sentence
You are the boss
Ok its a bit less simple but
here we go again
In einem Jahr hab ich mein Abi und ich setze jetzt schon crazy alles daran vom System nicht verschlungen zu werden.
Nominative, dative, Anglizismus, contraction, Colloquial shortening, passive mood, negation, noun, da-compound, possesive, accusative, past participle
Your first assignment is above
They just spent 20 minutes making this

Im supposed to translate it right?
I feel obligated to not disappoint
Match the grammar below to the sentence
Im level 2 on duolingo they just teach about brot und wasser
-# I am destined to fail, but failing is part of learning
The terms correspond with a word
Always capitalize nouns
So Brot und Wasser
zup
Jaa
In einem Jahr hab ich mein Possessive, Nomitive Abi Noun und ich setze jetzt schon crazy alles daran da-compound vom System nicht verschlungen zu werden past participle.
Work on it
Working
yes
mein Abi is also the only one that corresponds to two on the list i believe
technically three
WAIT YOU ARE EVIL
ok actually 4 lol
but its only meant for 2

the other 2 are for others
I can’t lie this is very hard considering English is my worst subject
@left jolt I think I’m doing good but I kinda have to sleep
I’ll get back to it tomorrow

Read more novels and books
Make Anki flashcards out of the new words learned from reading
And then review them
That's how I personally increase my vocabulary
If you mean dc ye
the user you are trying to reach is currently unavailable
NOT ACCEPTED

OR WELL DENIED

I‘m eating rn tho BUT U GO STUDY
great!
Okay so
If u study 1h only 20mins break
1.5h -> 30mins
2h -> 45 mins
Or u just study and wont have breaks idk how it works for u
Bedeutet?
Ach also du lernst für ne klausur fertig und danach machst du ne pause okay ja
<@&305455824174710787> I would like to open a ticket, but it doesn’t work.
Please try again
Discord is having a stroke currently, so it might not work for a little while longer
Still doesn’t work.
Yeah

Hallo guys 😄
What's the best way to learn A1-B2 in 7 months without going to Germany
7 months may be too short of a timeline for most people.
But just studying the usual way is generally the best option.
faq best way to learn
There isn’t only one “best” way to learn German, especially since different methods work better for different people. However, this FAQ will outline the main aspects of learning efficiently, which you can cater to your needs.
If you’re a beginner, type >faq beginner in #botchannel to see our beginner guide.
There are many combinations of activities you can use to study and practice a language. How do you know which combinations are suitable? The key is to make sure you cover each of the main skills with at least one activity. Some activities only train one skills, while some train multiple – either is fine, as long as all the 6 skills are covered somewhere in your studies.
• Reading
• Writing
• Listening
• Speaking
• Grammar
• Vocabulary
It doesn’t really matter which resources you use, as long as you can follow along, and the information is correct and reliable. If you have any doubts about whether a resource is correct, feel free to ask. You do not need to find just one resource and stick to it – in fact, to learn best, it’s recommended that you use a large variety of resources and switch between them when needed.
Type >faq resources in #botchannel to see our list of resources.
• Should I study all these skills every day?
• How much time should I dedicate to studying?
You can use this command in #botchannel if you want to check out the other pages too.

Hallo alle
I'd say I'm at around B1 or so
Ohh okayy
When I just started, I used Duo and then Easy German videos
Really sorry i didn't knew you were a girl.. I didn't wanted to sound clingy.. Very sorry
But I'd say the most efficient thing was hanging around on the server and trying to understand people and speaking with them, in German
It's ok
Yeah that's why i am finding people who are also studying german
Although it won't help to chat with natives immediately if you're a complete beginner
Hmm
And what are the things you did you wished not to do
Not being consistent, maybe
Although idk I didn't have much time recently
Ohh i have 2 yearss
Cuz i am planning to do my bachelors in eth zurich
In Switzerland
Cool. I'd recommend Nicos Weg for now, then try different resources and try to improve all the skills (speaking, writing, reading, listening, vocab, grammar)

Hello everyone, I'm Angela. I just arrived here. I'm from San Francisco, USA. My hometown is China. I want to learn a foreign language here and make friends. I like to communicate and share because it will let me learn a lot.
hi angela

Hallo Leute wie geht's euch?
Stabil, dir?
Hi guys which dictionary do you use? I use ChatGPT
Ist die Party vorbei
dict.cc, Wiktionary, and dwds.
I don't know if was the french version but dict.cc was pretty limited for me. It lacked words
I don't know anything about the French version but the EN-DE version is extremely comprehensive, including specialised terminology as well as idioms/phrases/quotes.
It's 24/7 lmao
damn it will take me a while to learn the basics lmao
In German?
