I find Duolingo to be quite basic for learning the basics of a language

After that, not so much

I personally am taking classes which aside from living around actual German people or living in a German speaking place is one of the best way as you are surrounded by people you can practice with and taught by someone who has actually studied the language

Servers like this can be quite helpful, especially the German only channels which force you to actually practice and are a great way to pick up new words but I will say you have to have some level of German first or you’ll be completely lost

I can't say how it sounds since I'm not a native speaker, but basically you can see why this is a vocabulary thing and not a grammar thing. You're learning the exact connotations of the word "vor" and in which contexts it's idiomatically used. Even what you wrote is not a rule but rather a definition, and there are pretty much always many ways to say the same idea. So as for whether it's crucial... I think that you shouldn't ignore it, but you also shouldn't be too strict about your expectations on yourself.

Like I'm sure you would forgive yourself if you don't know what something is called if you've never talked about that thing before. So you should treat this the same way. If you never used a preposition in a certain way or never heard it used, you can't expect to know it. But you should try to absorb the ones that you do hear and see.

What you're doing right now, where you're exploring phrases by seeing what sounds right or not, is a great thing to do and you're definitely on the right track with learning.

Hi! In practise rooms, German is the preferred language but English is allowed to explain if needed. Study rooms are just normal voice chats but with a limited number of people to make conversations easier, you dont necesarilly need to use them to "study" : )

was per se fine ist, aber es geht eher darum: du siehst eine cait R (die btw point and click ist, somit definitiv das target treffen soll) auf einem low hp target, dass zudem noch sehr squishy ist. man kann sie abblocken, indem ein anderer den schuss abfängt. die R war auf zizo, dem adc, und ich war genauso low xd du warst fast full hp und als bruiser etwas tankier als wir beide. darum meinten wir, dass du das ja abblocken könntest
