@knotty fable German Quickly is a nice book, it has a lot of information thrown at you, and that maybe is the big negative about it. You might want to check out the SHenke and Seogo - Basic German book listed in the resource list here:

It will limit the amount of infomation that you have to handle. And most of the chapters are shortish.
