When most of the people who join are B1 or lower it'd be a bit cruel to do everything in complex German, I think the idea's just to have fun bringing beginners up to speed and giving more advanced learners new, interesting vocabulary to mess around with. Doing everything in German would be nice if we had enough advanced learners to attend such a lesson but that never happens sadly.
