Treat whatever dye you put on the katanas as a pearlescent finish. The base color will still come through at certain angles and stuff.

So if you want a "cleaner" look, make sure your dye color doesn't clash with the base color of the sword blade

Best I can say for when you don't know and can't pull up some help.. weapons have only 2 layers. Swap them around, see what changes on the staff across 3 variants. That's what you can dye, mostly works. Granted there are some static parts within those, so be aware. But 2 major elements is the one
