Difference is story express just gives you proper ilvl gear for doing story, so after doing doing elgacua you get the gear to do pleccia (next continent) and so on

I played games like bdo where I poured almost 1k usd for minimal upgrades, that's why left it, so I hope this one isn't as bad

you get a lot of free shit from just playing
the only thing id get is crytalline aura which is a qol thing but its not really that necessary
