I will say, sure, the gear progression is "one" of the main things, but the real game is raiding with your friends, and doing harder content, which you won't be able to do with a non-power passed character, even power passed chars need a bit of honing to be able to actually do the fun raids

you also can't assume the gems cover every single ability because they don't
awakening, t skill, filler abilities, bleed
they all have different values per class
and all of the above would only benefit from the 8% AP
you'd have to take the individual damage distribution affected by gems and multiply that 12.4% value by it

Your quality will carry over to Tier 4 when you gear transfer
All gear "modifiers" quality, elixirs, transcendence, etc are saved and carry over when gear transferring.
You stop honing that gear at 1620
You get free T4 gear from the express. If youre not using the express you do Kenuart fortress for the gear and transfer into it
Honing NPC has a tab at the bottom for gear transfer. Its very straighforward. You merge old gear into new gear to save the "modifier" stuff
Generally gear transfers happen when there is a "soft reset" of gearing to drop the overall upgrade level back down and raise honing odds so you can continue to improve your ilvl

On my main I do 3x una's task that give 4 leapstones each, and on my alts I've been doing una's tasks for stuff that don't have max reputation, even if the rewards are kinda trash. Should I just be doing 2 quick una's task (even if they're max reputation) on alts (because only 2 teleport items) instead?

Generelly its wise to progress unas for reputation. Some give you collectibles like Island souls and masterworks
In endgame (after finished with progression) youll end up doing the unas Depending on the mats you need.
