They're refering to buff up times from dps meter. A dps meter which is not allowed in game and generally against the rules to discuss here. You'll have to look elsewhere for information

You don't throw many traps in general. Typically only 3 before the final phase. Maybe a 4th if dps is low

Yeah ESO and FF14 are much different in how the game is structured. Lost Ark at it's core - is a raiding game. There is essentially nothing outside of raiding. You can get up to 1600 yourself and solo the 'latest solo raid', but solo raids will always be '3 raids behind' the "current raid" which requires you to party up with people. But you will likely get gatekept from those raids, as no one wants to 're-prog' a raid and waste their time.

Many people in this game have mutliple characters. And each character can earn gold from 3 raids. Raids reset each week. You can earn gold from a maximum of 6 characters in your 'roster'. So most people are doing 18 raids a week. Considering this, people want to get those raids done quickly. It's not new player friendly in that regard.

If you enjoy the story. Technically speaking, it gives you a decent amount of roster exp - which is nice to have as it is a gatekeeping metric, but there are many other sources of roster exp. But you can simply use the powerpass that the game provides and skip it. Just be sure to use the powerpass on a class that you know you will like. You can always do the story on a 'alt character' if you decide too.
Considering you are brand new, doing the story may not be a bad idea as it gives you an idea of how the combat works (sort of) for the class your playing.

Considering your prior history is FF14, Lost Ark story pales in comparison to that MMO. The one reason why I never stuck with FF14 is the terrible combat system, and no care at all for the story. I am all about vertical progression and nothing else. But everyone is different.

There is small stuff like decorating your stronghold and collectibles, but that gets stale very quickly.
However, you may actually enjoy the raids. Before I played Lost Ark I wasn't too big into raiding, mainly PvP in other games. The raids in Lost Ark beat every other MMO on the market in my opinion. Especially with the combat it has.

It's a ARPG. You can spacebar telegraphs in this game - akin to 'immunity frames' in soulslike games. Except you still take damage. But it prevents knockback/stuns.

This game is pve only, i would suggest NOT going as support, everything else is fine.
If you want easier - get some which doesn't care where it attacks from, so not a fighter.

If you mean for chaos, generally you want to dismantle Relic or Ancient(1540+) below, 80 quality below, and depending on what stat you need; you untick the one you need, like crit, Swift and spec being the most used

quick question, I am really enjoying Breaker right now (Asura), but all my playtime in Lost Ark has been as Back Attacker, 1 or 2 Hit Master class. Do you Frontal Attack gigachads, know every boss pattern by heart or is it something you kinda learn with muscle memory, and constant repetition of the same fights? Having a hard time to dodge some of the normal patterns, because I never had to, and because of the nature of Breaker's Z, I would love to know when is my time to shine

you still need to learn them to know what makes the boss spin
but yes it is a different learning process as a front attacker, just need to limit test what can be tanked with x and what needs to be sidestepped

I mean, I wouldn't say I know all the normal patters, and as a back attacker, or front attacker, sometimes the boss doesn't spin, and when the boss doesnt spin, the back attacker is bing chilling, whilst someone like a breaker needs to dodge (maybe not so much for destroyers and gunlancers)

but right now, the game provides you with all the basic stuff to go and try your first raids

the floor dificulty of the game for raids is actually higher than most mmos out there, one mistake can (not always) lead to a direct wipe, mechanics exist, but they are fun and you can always go and try the thing whenever you want in SOLO mode

that's why you always try to get into a learning party for the first time or times
