Yes, they did. If they have one main right now and don't want to push it or don't intend to push it for the time being they can funnel that gold into the alt.

The one thing you are correct about is if they are attempting to push an alt plus their main they aren't in a place where they can really spare that gold

You're in a very, very, very, very, very early part of the game. We refer to the level 10 to 50 section as basically an over glorified tutorial, but one that doesn't actually teach you the game because at endgame nothing you do during story content is what you're doing for the normal endgame loop. So just solo the dungeons as you level, they are easy.

More or less, yeah. When you get to level 50 thats when you hit "early" endgame, where you will start to do things more relevant to what the endgame is. Honing, Chaos Dungeons.

Priority should just be to get to level 50, just do the Main Story Quests (these transition into World Quests after a certain point) and don't bother with Side Quests and you'll get to 50 fairly quick.
