As a support you buff atk and debuff def, you shield and mitigate damage, but since the fights are so random and chip damage is always present, most of the time if the player is not God tier or they get caught with their pants down, they will chug all the pots in that gate, you have to heal from time to time if they take a lot of damage, pots cost, your heal is free, and a good support should always be able to buff and heal as the fight goes on (just don't heal when they are like 80% hp)

you generally should not drop heal if its just for one player though

that person needs to just pot

at high levels players are expected to not get hit, so healing is less focused and atk buff more focused
