Just set up one of your gear presets for your Chaos Dungeon build and just use the event gems for it, may have to reroll them to the appropriate skills. You have to go to the Gem NPC to do so.
To see your gear presets go to your character window and you should see a few buttons with numbers above your character, which if you have Relic Gear you can freely change your Relic set between one more suited to Chaos Dungeons and one you use for Raids so long as you have your gear presets set up. Also just make sure you have Gear Conversion unlocked (again you need to be in Relic gear already for this) by making sure you've done the Guide quest for it.

Use the Express event on that character if your intention is to main it, apply the Engraving Support function and make sure your relic set is the appropriate one for your class and build. From there just start doing your daily and weekly content; Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids, Una's Tasks, Challenge Guardians and Legion Raids and doing horizontal content for the much needed Skill Points, Runes and otherwise.
