Just noticed that you have more than the limit Maybe another person can help you out here but my assumption would be that you can actually use a potion below the limit which then refills the potion's amount of life energy. When the limit is exceeded you cannot consume another life energy potion but you can use your life energy like always. That's my assumption.

yeah only way to go over your limit is by using life energy potions which i wouldnt recommend because youre not using the passive energy regeneration at that point
