Been busy the last 3 days, Ditch Chrome and use Firefox, You've got a higher chance of getting malware, spyware and being hacked with the overly large number of security holes Chrome and Chrome based browsers do have. Google attempted to fork Firefox and failed miserably in their attempt. I use FF nightly 64 as my daily driver browser and keep Firefox regular build on my PC as backup. Yes, generally done right you get lower temps for same performance.
If you do it on the gfx card software, eg msi afterburner or evga precision x1 then just turn down power from 100% to say 95 or 90 and test to see how you go performance wise. And tune it down until you start to lose performance.
I usually also turn up my core clock and mem slightly.
You cannot damage your card or system using the software to lower power as if it's unstable it will just restart. There are plenty of safety's built in
I've run mine at 63% power and 1000+ on mem when I used to mine crypto.
For gaming I run 500 extra on mem and 250 on core clock and lower power to 85%. Runs cooler and better performance

Just a warning to everyone using a AMD graphics cards: DO NOT UPDATE TO 22.7.1 !!!!

The driver update fucks all programs that use GPU-Encoding.
From random crashes to distorted colors!

Reverted my GPU drivers back to 22.6.1 and everything is working again!

If you are already on 22.7.1, you can easily downgrade to 22.6.1:

1. Navigate to "C:\AMD" and open the "AMD_Software_Installer_22.6.1"-folder
2. Open the "Setup.exe"
3. The installer will automatically detect that you want to downgrade.
4. Click through the installation and, if necessary, tick "Factory Reset"
5. The current drivers are now uninstalled and your PC restarts
6. After the reboot, the drivers are reinstalled (version 22.6.1)
7. Reboot again
8. Manual Restart (Just for peace of mind)
9. Enjoy a working PC

Work laptop is getting higher speeds over wifi

Earlier today I was getting slightly better speeds

But after a reboot, it's down to 50-60

Try opening a CMD window (use the Windows 10/11 search bar to open it) and run the following command
netsh interface tcp show global

Once you've done that, look for "Receive Window Auto-Tuning Level"

What's that set to?

2 yrs ago I didn't have this problem-- at one point my upload was where it should be

and when the tech pulled the cable from my pc and did a speed on the line right from the rj-45 that connects into my pc it showed 920 down / 920 up

Only other thing I can think of to try is to try plugging the laptop into the ethernet (cable) and see if it gets the same speeds as the PC. If it does, then it's an issue with the cable or the line in the house (which is unlikely, considering a tech did a speed test on the line)

If it doesn't, then it's an issue with your motherboard/drivers. Look up your motherboard's manufacturer and look for drivers and/or BIOS on their site for your motherboard

First, check if both slots are working. Plug one stick of RAM into one slot and boot. Then, if it boots, plug it into the other slot and see if it boots.

If it does, then do the same thing with the other stick of RAM and see if it boots both tines.

If it boots with both sticks in one slot but not the other, then there's a problem with the motherboard

If it boots with one stick in both slots but the other stick prevents boot, then there's a problem with the RAM stick.

If the computer boots with both sticks working in both slots (not together), then there's something else wrong

ok... i am stumbled! i need a total of 150gb free on my C drive. i have 88.3gb Temp Files in my Storage Manager, but when i click on that, it literally only shows 69.3mb that i can delete

for my Apps & Features, i have 111gb, but when clicking on that, i cant see at all, what takes up the space. cause when i click on Apps & Features, it does not give me a clue, of what and where these files are

my Program Files and Program Files (x86) folders are showing a total of 12.64gb. so all of this makes no sense to me!

@coral gale bring up run box (easiest way just hit the windows key and the letter R), type temp and run, will bring up wondow with lotsa files highlight all files then delete all (there will be a few it cannot delete just skip when message pops up) close the window when done.
Now bring up run box again an type %temp% ,then repeat what u did for the temp folder.. if u download alot check your downloads folder in your documents folder. Also if u use a torrent app check the temp files in it.

Also do u have a secondary drive installed? i myself always install games on a different drive, for example i have a 1tb nvme jus for windows and apps, i have a 2tb nvme drive jus for all my games, an last i have a 2tb ssd sata drive for all my other appstuff backups on my laptop

documents folder: i know already by now its around 25gb. but that is because of my The Sims 3 folder in Electronic Arts main folder. and that folder is not to be (re)moved. i play sims 3 on a very regular basis using mods. mods that are needed for my different gameplays that i do

recycle bin: that one is already emptied. i did that right after i removed all of the temp-files i was able to

system backup: never done these. why? not a clue of how i do it

content saving programs: that i honestly am unsure of. but i do know, that the Electronic Arts folder is using the Documents folder for save files. but that really is all that i know

photo editing programs: i dont do any of that stuff

secondary drivers: i have my 1tb HDD as a backup gaming drive and my 4tb external as main gaming drive/regular backup drive. “backup drive” as in phone backup for pictures/videos, downloads made on my pc etc. i do know, that having the external as a gaming drive isnt the best option at all. but it honestly is the only way i have, for being able to play the many different games, that i have/enjoy playing

what game launchers u use?, steam, ubisoft, gog, origin, go into which u have and see where your games get installed to like for example i use steam and in setting i have my 2tb as default game installed to. without me actually have the system in fron of me its hard to go thru everything

try using the network troubleshooter see what that comes up also is yer pc set to automatically have an ip address or has it have 1 that u have inputed to yer network? also check your router settings about banned ip address it happens on routers that have settings to ban certain ips so to speak if that makes sense then if all else fails unplug power to router count to 10 then plug power back in. i have to do that sometimes on my secondary router for my interanal network

Hello, I have an issue with my pc for some times now. Games keep crashing for no visible reason, my pc is crashing too sometimes with a BSOD. And yes it happens with every games and sometimes even on the desktop, the temps are fine, I swapped the GPU (for a Gigabyte RTX 3070), the PSU (for a Corsair TX850M), the MoBo, the RAM, the last component is the CPU who is physically fine is the CPU (Ryzen 5 2600), do you think it could be the issue? I've made a clean install of windows too (2 times) on a new SSD nvme and the other SSD/HDD are fine (as CrystalDisk Info says) do you guys have any idea to fix it? Sorry if I made some mistakes, feel free to correct me 🙂

I would swap back to your old GPU temporarily. If that resolves the issue likely an issue with that

I had the same issue with old GPU, that's the reason why I actually swapped it, thought it was the issue after swapping all the other parts. For the BSOD I stopped having the GPU drivers errors messages, but keep crashing tho, sometimes I don't have BSOD, the pc just turns himself off, trying to restart but I have to press the restart button on the front case to make it restart. I tried benchmarks like 3DMark and I can run it, but sometimes the pc goes off, same as when I play games, I tried to take a look at CPU and GPU perfs and temps when I play and everything's fine, even when I play light games it keeps crashing, few days ago it also happened on Mozilla Firefox, I was thinking to bring the pc to an informatician but it will cost me 75€ to just take a look at the pc, but I think it's one of my lasts options

Well that's the main and most common issue, but the PC can crash for any reason, like the MoBo is turning into protection mode (as if there was an issue with the PSU or something)

Here's another thing to try, maybe try running system using one ram stick at a time, you're essentially testing each ram stick. Then if they all check out, step up to 2 sticks at a time, then 3 then all 4. This could help you narrow down either a ram module issue or ram slot issue.

Just reread your OP, CPU could be an issue, it could also not like a certain memory channel. You've essentially replaced everything but the CPU.

I've been experiencing multiple issues with my laptop recently and am curious if anyone knows, to be noted... they have stopped somehow and I just want your knowledge on what possibilities caused it to occur & how to fix them in the future if the time comes

•I closed my computer when it was connected to wifi & then left the building with the wifi to go back to my house, when I opened it my desktop was blue but my lockscreen acted like normal
•When I woke up today I could access only certain sites such as youtube. Anything else temporarily, crunchyroll, steam (the app would not open either), nordvpn, etc.

I did troubleshooting steps, restarting, drivers, running anti virus tests... for the last one, and none of them had an immediate resolution

Most errors are caused by residual files from a previous install or a failed install.

1. Start by making sure that your computer is up to date as the requirements for WeMod may change over time.
2. Delete any files related to WeMod that may still be in AppData roaming and AppData local.
3. Restart your computer if you deleted any files
4. Redownload the WeMod installer https://wemod.gg/download
5. Whitelist WeMod in your antivirus
6. Run the installer

When you open task manager and go to performance tab, what does it say under GPU.

Should look like this, this is my GPU.

You can also type dxdiag in the search bar of the start menu, it will open a new window similar with the error you had before. Just go to the display tab and you will get the GPU the laptop is using.

Valheim is not particularly optimized and the 940MX isn't very powerful, i have a RTX 2060 and i had issues with my GPU throttling like that in zones where i had lots of buildings.

If lowering the graphics does not help, consider getting a proper desktop PC, Laptops (especially older models) aren't properly meant for gaming to begin with

The minumum requirements according to steam for Halo Infinite is a 1050 Ti, The 940MX is a laptop chipset which is in most cases weaker/slower then it's card-based counterpart. If it even runs the game, you can most likely assume the game won't run very fast.

I know this is prolly not what you wanna hear, but your hardware is not fast enough for Halo Infinite and Valheim will prolly not run smooth either.

Firstly, scan for viruses. Check your HDD/SSD isn't corrupt. Make sure your windows is legit. Check Task Manager to make sure nothing is bottlenecking (ie running at 100%). Check systems temops to ensure theres no overheating too. Some steps you can take

If it is the PSU then why would it suddenly be over it's rating by opening just Spotify though.

At that point, the PSU is just faulty if it's really that.

Most obvious one would be software related, because the PC still gets into the OS. So drivers is most likely the first check here together with temps and hardware usage at no load.

If that's all fine, then I would personally just do a RAM check of Windows, it's decent enough to know if there is a major issue with them. Mainly because faulty RAM can do a lot of weird things... like a lot of very very weird things and never the same for everyone either.

It could be either faulty graphics card drivers, or your GPU isn't seated correctly

Try updating your graphics card drivers. Otherwise, try re-seating your GPU (unplugging it from the motherboard and plugging it back in)

none of them worked.. even tried to restore the PC. but that failed too. now, looking in my file explorer i have 2 questionable folders. 1 being a $Windows.~BT and 2 being WINDOWS which is supposed to be the windows sys folders but is all caps which is weird and i cannot delete the SoftwareDistribution folder as one of those methods suggests

The issue he seems to be like just a geforce expierence bug or something, not exactly driver related. Also a driver will never corrupt itself because "it's updated too many times", an issue during the process would cause a corruption not being updated a lot. You should have updated drivers at all times really, especially GPU drivers. They are very easy to rollback anyway when there are any issues with them which is pretty rare to be anything major.

For example the 525 driver of Nvidia had some issues, took 10 seconds to roll back without any tools to uninstall the old one.

Go to your power plan settings, and change it to High Performance.

Make sure "Turn off Hard Disk after" is set to 0 minutes. (This means it will never turn off, after idling)

Also,

Go to the "sleep" management area, and put the settings to off (0 minutes), or set them to whatever amount you like. In minutes.

My gpu seems to be giving me massive bluescreen errors. Brand new pc, gpu is a geforce rtx 3060, it keeps saying the drivers are out of date or something is wrong with the drivers, but I’ve looked up a bunch of the error codes I’ve gotten and it leads me in a bunch of different directions on what could be wrong with it.

Memory management and system service exception or something are the 2 main bluescreen messages. Sometimes win32ksys error shows up too.

I have all the bluescreen pictures if anyone is able to help me try and figure this out. I’ve had to reset my pc twice already and it seems to have done nothing.

Replacing Saves for Dying Light 2, been doing this for some time & I've disabled the Steam Cloud a while ago, I've tried validating files & basically what happens is when I replace the saves, nothing happens, when I launch the game the saves I had already just remain in the same place, it's also definitely not the wrong folder for saves, I've been doing it for some time & it's worked countless times before, but seemed to corrupt over time, not entirely sure what to google to fix it, also whenever I try launch the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, the game will show it's running, then close, I've went through Steam Support Page ||(Not Contacted Steam Support)|| to find out what could be causing this, I've also tried googling it but I couldn't find a solution, I've also tried validating my files for the game countless times & it'll come up everytime that "38 Files Failed to Validate", but when it finishes updating, nothing changes, I go validate again & it just repeats

There used to be also a glitch where you would get an infinite loading screen when you tried going online because of a corrupted connection. Idk if that is still a thing, but all you had to do there was open taskmanager > go to network tab > resources > Disable GTA5 > wait for like 20 seconds or so and then re-enable it.

There is also another glitch there the settings file would corrupt itself and reset your settings none stop too, you basically just have to delete the settings files in your doc for that.

not sure why, but even on ultra graphics for rdr2, i’m getting too many visual bugs. Little things like particles taking lighting wrong so that any scene with a darker environment and an artificial light makes everything extremely foggy, and equipment not setting correctly, rather clipping through everything to a rigid shape. Unsure why this is happening and Im currently troubleshooting it.

Unfortunately, I don't have a gaming laptop and now stuck on the "compiling shaders" error screen like most people over the internet and can't bypass it.

Whenever I try to install the latest driver the nvidia installer fails and the display driver uninstalls and device manager wont run so cant reinstall the drivers
So I'm currently stuck with 516.94
I was only able to fix it by doing a fresh windows installation

any driver newer than 516.94 fails to install

btw its a gigabyte oc gddr5 model of the card
