anything else u wanna say to yourself to cope?
ur basically having a convo w urself at this point
Oh am I, okay. Sounds like you have no defense. I donāt think theyāll add it, all Im saying is we can show our lack of support for that. You have no defense and left instead of responding. There is no way you think Iām talking with myself. Have a nice day, I donāt know why you seek to argue with others but Iād advise some self reflection.
i seek to argue with people? okay bud i said my peice on one message and you all started reeeing back at me lmao
5 messages, 2 of which are large paragraphs. You were trying to make fun of us, hence the laughing emoji.
it was 3 messages and 2 consited of 3 lines idk how thats a paragraph and im sorry it was 3 messages i thought the dumbassery was over then i kept reading and it just got funnier and funnier
u have a lovely day now b u seem v busy protesting so i wont take up more of your time

"ok bud"
Ok bud
I swear people stirring things are depressing. Got nothing worth more in your life than complaining about people for having problems? Go outside and kick some rocks or something
Aint no votekick system here to yeet out bratty kids?
someone having a different opinion is a bratty kid?
your just mad i disrupted your echo chamber this is a post for discussion i voiced my opinion like a normal person and you decide to personally attack me because it doesent align with your views?
you all say i seek to argue with you but i simply wished to voice an opinion and you all decided to personally attack me because i disagree with your view point.
ofc u dont thats why u resorted to petty insults
v mature thank you for validating my point have a great day circle jerking eachother into agreement
Tell us when you are done so the rest can continue with the healthy and respectful conversation we had before your disruption. Thank you
I'm not sure you have basic reading comprehension given the multiple times I've essentially said that anything "productive" would need significant bankrolling out of spite even with heavily inflated numbers and the part where the dude who talked with a lawyer corroborated basically that.
It could also be that you're the type of individual without principles. I'm in this thread not because I had the game on Epic first, but because I wanted to keep track of promises made and then promises not fulfilled, and this was a promise made yet not fulfilled which doesn't seem to have sufficient justification as to the technical difficulty short of utter, fundamental, and total incompetence given our knowledge of the relevant backend tooling in use, Playfab.
they already created mechanisms which could be reused for token claiming, and playfab has its own merging capabilities
holy shit someone acc took the time to write a good informative message
so essentially they have the tools in place
the result was unsurprising considering Torn Banner has been doing the same shit for 3 games straight
it's just sad that torn banner never improves
i cant teach a horse new tricks
the rot is from the top. That's the only bit which hasn't been replaced.
it's a game torn banner delisted because they flopped the game so hard that they want to pretend it never happened
they fucked that game harder than hi-rez fucked tribes
it's not even on their website anymore and was delisted from steam
god damn
they've let timelines slip so hard and consistently failed promises to such an extent that believing torn banner will be better on their next game is like asking a girl why she thinks getting back together with the ex who "quit alcohol" 3 times and keeps threatening to go to the convenience store for milk is a good idea
torn banner has only taken action to earn further distrust with every game they've released, and their behavior in chiv 2 has been actually worsening compared to chiv 1 even if it's not quite as futile as mirage
so basically the ppl on this thread already know TB wont do the right thing and they just hear to validate themselfs sat in an echo chamber of agreement
no, the people in this thread want to give TB every chance to do the right thing and expect them not to, and want to make sure that if they don't that it's obvious, as public as is reasonable given we're in a discord which is inherently only a small segment of the base, yet at the same time is disproportionately a more valuable segment of the playerbase(the core base) which would otherwise be the promoters for their next game and for chiv 2 itself, and thus as damaging as is appropriate to Torn Banner for their own inappropriate actions.
which is why the stridah video happened as well, as Torn Banner can only hang themselves on their own rope here.
this is one of those complaints which only exist because Torn Banner themselves created the complaint
Not everyone here has bought the first 2 games so you gotta remember that. Some people are new to TB games so they dont know their back ground when it comes to false promises. For the people that do know TB reputation, then its their own fault for trusting them a 3rd time. Same thing will happen if TB comes out with Chiv 3, more people will get scammed for something they promised and the same people that have been scammed wont learn their lesson, thinking they will change but wont.
Itās not that I donāt understand or agree when sunder, but there is no point in responding to you.
And thinking it will be fixed in a new game is dumb
Until we take action, they wonāt change.
So waiting is assuring the fate of a new game.
So I just poke my head into a wall of text that can be summarized to "your fault for buying on Epic" because dying to terrible balance and archer spam for a year is totally worth being loyal to to Steam
Um, so caaan I move my EGS progress to steam yet?
This will not happen anymore
Aww
Dont be sad, be happy it once happened.
Chiv 2 "core group" in a nutshell right here. They think they are more valuable than the entire rest of the playerbase
Can you still get a refund if youāve played 100+ hours of the game and got value out of your purchase
there's a bug where if steam is open and you play on epic it counts as steam playtime
Why do people prefer steam over Epic anyway?
better community, runs faster, and functional achievements are pretty common points
simple answer epic is a store front like amazon steam is a community hub
Yeah but u canāt prove thatās how the hours were got and if u take someone to court you have the burden of proof not TB
This would be a funny lawlsuit. Just hope the courtroom has strong enough chairs š³
Neato
There's also a subset of people who think EGS is spyware but I doubt it
I feel this in my heart as a diehard starsiege tribes goon
They wouldn't. Considering that the medieval PVP genre has hit an evolutionary dead end, a "third game" would honestly just be Chiv2 ported to Unreal Engine 5, with the actual new additions feeling more like a DLC than a full game
all i want from chiv 3 is mod support from day 1
Chiv 1 had mod support and even cash competitions for content
We have been let down in this regard in chiv 2 so far.
like they wouldnt even need to worry about producing a lot of content if we had full mod support
the community would do it all
Console support and multi platform(egs steam gamepass) probably didn't help
Ascend had its moments, but yeah
I want all my stuff together a well as my friends are on steam.
steam also has a review system, history as a stable storefront, it's the store they're already using by default and thus where their games are, etc.
If only a competing company would do smart plays like, giving millions to a game they know is going to be successful, millions of dollars to literally do nothing but develop on their platform and hash out their code base for future games. Holy shit that would be so smart
Alternatively, giving millions to a game that wasn't gonna be on PC in the first place. Epic Games honestly needs more cases like Kingdom Hearts regarding exclusivity deals.
And this is why companies get away with this shit.
It's the better platform in virtually every metric
Bump
Monopolies are great for the Marketplace, everyone knows that.
Epic's business strategy with EGS is to snipe down games originally planned to release on Steam. I think the only cases where an EGS deal even allowed a PC version of a game to exist at all is the Kingdom Hearts trilogy, and probably FFXVI
I think Epic got lucky with Chiv2 all things considered
How is this an argument to Steam being a monopoly ?
It's more of Epic wanting a monopoly themselves due to their anticompetitive approach to running a store
They are backed by unreal engine and still cant even make a dent on the marketshare, by spending probably billions at this point on giving away games for free and paying people to be on their platform
What amount of credit does Steam take for contributing to the recent trend of games just being shittier overall, by taking 30% of the revenue from the developers?
It's just weird that everyones always complaining about "Developer greed" and "TB Fanboys" while blindly turning an eye to how crazy greedy steam is, and they would suck Gabe Newell through a straw given the chance.
Epic games takes a 12% Cut, and paid them to be there. Kind of a no-brainer from a business standpoint if it happened to blow up there, which arguably it did.
Most people expect Epic Games to implement the basic features that were taken for granted with Steam. Though on a more personal note, I'd rather they fund PC ports of games that are only planned for consoles.
Chiv2 on Epic worked because the Steam counterpart is worse than installing the Epic Games Launcher
Steam has a cult-following. Its the only cool thing to fanboy for in the gaming community apparently. Epic should do whatever it can to compete.
The epic launcher is hot garbage
I am biased though I'm like steam user #1925
I'm not a fan of Epic myself, but my tastes in gaming make it hard to be loyal to Steam
I still think that Kingdom Hearts being EGS exclusive is a necessary evil
Devs to a large degree also prefer that people purchase on Steam rather than Epic or Itch even if they release on both platforms because Steam has a legitimately strong discovery algorithm. Get a lot of purchases? Game gets served to a lot of people, huge opportunity. Hit 50 reviews to achieve the threshold which enables "Overwhelmingly Positive"? Massive breakpoint again.
Games are capable of going viral on Steam, and that's because Valve has actually done a good job with the design of the store. They also maintain download infrastructure better than consoles with paid online, multiplayer infrastructure in the form of Steamworks which is top notch, and, most importantly, don't swing their monopoly around.
Steam has so much market power that if Valve didn't compete purely on being a superior experience for all parties they'd have the FTC digging so deep into Steam that it comes out the topside in moments.
they could probably go to a 20% share without too much issue, maybe less, but Steam does offer more than any other platform which takes a similar cut in an actual sense
Yet every million copies on Epic gets them about 8 million extra dollars. So selling all those copies at launch made them a lot of extra cash.
Yes. It's, from a financial standpoint, in a genre as minimal as this with essentially no competition, best to just go to the platform with the best cut, especially if you're getting paid to do so. Don't forget the significant money Epic paid to get them on Epic. Total is probaly over 10m for being on Epic instead and then releasing on Steam later.
it's mostly in the more competitive genres where people are actually better off releasing on steam and getting surfaced through word of mouth by reaching out to communities known to pick up niche games and spread them around like with cool puzzle games such as https://store.steampowered.com/app/653020/Lumins_and_Shades/ for example
Lumins and Shades is a cute 2D grid-based puzzle game about turning on lights and making memories. Work together with Lumins, who live in light, and Shades, who live in darkness, to bring light to the world.

Sadly, yes. I still believe we have the right to be upset, Torn banner handed this horribly...they aren't going to keep their word and nothing is going to be done about it, no in or out of game compensation to help remedy...nothing.
I've...we've been fighting for this for about a year and a half.
It's over....we lost.
