Yes but Block Party keeps you engaged that way; you still have to try but it's not super hard. I get bored of Block Drop quickly because I feel like you barely have to think in the first part of the game. Block Party keeps me engaged and relaxed at the same time. That said I can also consistently make it to round 25 so Block Party is low-stress for me anyway.

there should be a ticking sound that usually helps

if u have it turned off its quite hard to time jumps perfectly

Anymore, I just get a feel for it (it takes no active thought). However you can also time it more exactly by counting how many times you can jump up and down before you go. If you're inconsistent at it though, just don't jump as early. Even a small advantage will normally get you a powerup 🙂
