staggered for has been the best type of looping i ever made, its like a delay loop, but you can squeeze every last drop of your projects potential if you want, or whatever else u want thats lower
A regular delay loop is like, still in our hearts, & ill always use it for things that involve mostly NET as to lower it, but ill never look at it as dearly as i have when i first built it
the only time we can appreciate a RR for is probably when compiler

can confirm, it takes awhile, but it happens. Its like since it all pushes against one end, it withers the gasket & thus starts leaking, if data is left on other chips, they can & will deprecate.

A better, local way is via raycast detection, if you can find the offsets

Was gonna suggest something using the player’s finger direction but then I tested it and found out the chip that gets the finger direction doesn’t account for the player making a fist. Thanks rec room.
I feel like they should just be called hand forward/upward vector instead of finger/thumb direction it just feels misleading
We as a community need to find a better way of getting if the player is making a fist, since they won’t give us the chips currently

Two notes
- the delay between the prompts is used to run the next prompt on the next tick so the delay can be 0 with no issues
- prompt multiple choice has a cooldown of 8 prompts per 30 seconds, so I would recommend using a cooldown system.
I have ideas on how to allow you to "infinitely" prompt people
Keep track of how many times you've prompted someone with a List<Float> variable
Every time a value is older than 30 seconds, remove it from the list
If the list has 8 elements, wait before prompting the player again
this only works for local prompts though
^ alternatively you can store a timestamp 30 seconds in the future and check if the current timestamp is larger than whats stored in the list

That's a pretty interesting way of doing a gilder! I made one by holding an item while in the air, that will auto equip to your back when on the floor.

I'm doing a similar thing with the recode of ^LastManStanding
When you start gliding, a "Glide Controller" will be equipped, by holding click, the glide direction becomes the gun handle firing direction at 60hz
This means you click hold click to glide in a specific direction, but also be able to physically turn
I might try doing stuff with locomotion events for better control
Sounds interesting, maybe with locomotion events you could ditch the glide controller and just use the player's movement direction for simplified controls.
Though I guess gliding up and down wouldn't be possible.
The glider itself is velocity based
The locomotion chips would just be for controlling direction

I have an invention that you can use to create such grabbable sliding objects. It works in any arbitrary object orientation. It's free and republishable. Only problem is that it is a bit tricky to set up without instructions. I am creating a tutorial room on how to use this invention but it's not done yet.

I hate it when roles in murder mystery aren't interactive so I'm specifically avoiding that

I just published it. The room is called "SliderTutorial". The invention is called "Slider v1.0". You have to make a copy of the room since saving the room is the last step to initialize the circuits. Please let me know if you encounter any problems with the tutorial, as I haven't asked anyone else to try it out yet.

Run a vector3 create into a Create euler angles. Then multiply the quaternion output with this Create Euler angles. Make sure the euler angles is the port on top of the multiply. And make the ports on the vector3 look like (90,0,0)

no, the sphere is the best performing collider, so it kinda makes sense
people think box colliders are the simpliest collider but like, spheres are literally point distance

If you want to check if 2 spheres are colliding, you check if Distance(A,B) - (ARadius + BRadius) is negative/less than 0

Trying to make a little system for a basketball game with certain “abilities” one of them is a super jump/dunking ability.
I know how to make the circuits but I’m trying to think of ways to execute the jump.
I was thinking of make it so, the more you walk/move around it’ll fill up a bar and once its finished you can have the ability.
I was thinking maybe you can just jump to use it since you’re not supposed to jump in basketball anyways besides when you’re going to throw the ball

If you want it easy I would say make it when they walk but follow the ball ish so they don't just spin in a circle and get it fast.
If you want it harder do when they block the ball player, make a shot, or pass/carry the ball.

Essentially you get the average normalized velocity over a period of time and check how similar it is to cardinal directions rotated to match the player
That’s cuz that kind of control was considered a gimmick, and only used for silly toys. No golden Timmy got his hands on this, or saw it as interesting, thus it’s not as common.

I’ve polished it since (adding effects when hitting player plus not having it enabled when not swinging), but surprising how simple this is, and it feels so fast and cool when you add trails.

Does it work when the player you’re trying to hit is moving away from you?
Using a trigger volume + clamp will cause it to lag behind slightly, meaning you can’t hit someone when they are running away from you. It would be cool if that was fixed
Two things, yes it should works on players moving away, and it’s not a trigger volume that a collision volume, it was added this update in beta.

I'm pretty sure (could be wrong about this) that it uses the Noise chip considering how the feet move in a sort of pseudorandom way? And how it only moves once they have stopped selecting the main object, allowing it to move with circuits.

well, i understand that yet games have beta. Im not trying to rush the devs or come off annoying but the term "beta" or "alpha" could be used many games are unfinished and published on other game platforms so i don't see why we can't do that with rec room?

I make and work with mechs. I have some friends who know how to make mechs work just like I do. The code is very confusing, but fun to work with sometimes! Its very rewarding afterwards though!
I might hold off on making titans until we get some way to collect movement inputs
There are a few ways to make that stuff. Its very simple in that, it doesn't require years of understanding, but complicated because of all the moving components.
Thats why a class I know of teaches the fundementals of making and designing/coding mechs.

There’s probably a better way to do it, but my guess is getting the positions of all those player’s parts, and setting the body part int to whatever is closest

Most of the the circuits on the knife itself are just sending the damage to the damage event I use for the pvp system
The hacking is easy too, those orange hack points are just a couple delays and visual chips attached to a trigger volume that only detects a tag the knife has
