ok so like let me break it down a bit what happens...
so its in the hierarchy, it came with the avatar so its on there the moment i open the avatar's prefab right
if i delete it off the hierarchy, the avatar runs into issues that 'destroys' it when i open up gesture emulator

i had to unpack the avatar prefab itself, delete the components off the seat prefab, then delete the seat prefab
Was that avatar prefab the actual FBX model file, or some other prefab which contained that and more things?

you can actually remove things from a prefab without unpacking, you just have to apply the change to the prefab
the seat prefab was inside the avatar's prefab, so if i opened up the original model's fbx prefab, the seats would already be on it and set up
unpacking a .fbx prefab is a bad idea if you ever want to bring that into Blender and update it

just a quick step by step pls, like
1 delete prefab part you dont want
2 right click on avatar
3 mouse over tab and click apply to prefab
or something like that. just saying right click and apply to prefab isnt really helping if I have no idea how to get to that point
so Unity has documentation, much of it is actually good.
But what I meant was if you change a setting of any sort on a prefab, you get a little blue indicator that it's changed. Right click on that very thing, and you will see "apply to prefab".
Or, at the root of the prefab at the top is "Overrides" which lists all of the overrides, and lets you apply them if you want.

Hey i have an error which is confusing me super bad. No idea whats going on with this or how to fix it.
So im working on an avatar right now. It works perfectly fine - no issues at all.
However when i go to duplicate the avatar to create a Face tracking version its giving me errors.
I have removed all colour swap, contact and size radial wheels from the avatars Perameter menu, toggle menu's and FX perameters + layers. But in the VRC SDK it is stating that those Deleted perameters/toggles are "not defined" and is still attempting to access them.
This FT version of the avatar does not reference the OG Avatar's perameter, FX or menus at all. It has entirely different components attached. And all the supposed perameters and toggle inputs have been fully deleted.
The only fix im finding at the moment is to completely delete the OG avatar's menus and Perameter layers from the project.
Anyone got any idea how to fix?
it isnt a vrcfury component on the avatar itself, its its own little prefab on the avatar prefab with vrcfury components and i just want the whole thing gone
If it lets you delete it from there, it's probably not part of a prefab.
if i right click Body Chairs, i can delete it, but the avatar itself no longer works, so I would argue its kind of needed
i can delete it without the avatar destroying if i unpack the avatar prefab but then everything else breaks
okay but there's no way I can know what might cause that from here, you'd need to figure that part out
also "no longer works" isn't very descriptive, I don't know what to suggest

you don't want that anyway - you just have to unpack the textures into Unity for them to be useful

ok well textures are generally image files, so you'd have to go look at your materials in blender to see how they work

if they use image files, find those, put them in Unity. If they're procedurally generated, you'll need to make new ones in Unity, those won't work.

Is there any way to have a toggle/hold button affect a radial elsewhere in your expressions menu and then have the radial still be able to affect the selected properties without having to disable the initial toggle?

it's a component you put onto an animator state - see the VRC docs for detail
basically "when this state is active, go tweak that other parameter"

well it shouldn't be a bool as it's a radial menu and I did get it to not show up as a bool but at least within VRCFury I don't see an obvious way to set the value of the global parameter
right but the data type in the animator doesn't necessarily match the one in the avatar parameters list
it's possible it IS a bool in the animator, even if a float in the parameters list
it's a float on all that I can see but I the issue is not being able to change the value of the parameter driver that is getting set within VRCFury

nowhere in most shaders, but you can convert them to normal maps with some tools like substance painter

I have the code for a curve that pulls a sword out straight form the wrist, but i have no idea why the rest of the body is moving. Any ideas?
Well, you could grab an already made avatar and learn how it works/how to change materials/textures, add toggles/logic and learn to upload whilst on the side, also learning modelling/rigging/texturing 'cause that's a whole different beast tbh.
For the former you can use sites like Payhip, Gumroad, Jinxxy, Booth and sort them by free. There's also places like vrcfree(dot)com or vrcarena(dot)com where you might be able to find something a bit easier to work on/a look you like better.
When it comes to making things from scratch you'll do best for vrchat using Blender for now and I'd say to make smaller things at first to get used to the workflow. There's playlists worth of blender tutorials on youtube that'll teach you everything. Just keep in mind blender is a lot bigger than just vrc avatar creation, you can render out entire animated movies using just blender so there's a lot in there you probably won't ever use.
At a minimum you'll need Unity 2022.3.22f1 to upload anything and I very much recommend using the Vrchat Creator Companion from the Vrchat site if you don't already have it.

I copied the code and edited for my needs. Working on unity.
The animation has a value of 0 at the start, 1 at the end. The blade appears correctly.
The rest of the armature starts phasing into the ground (ends up with half of the body in the ground). The arms and legs do get bent too. I cannot find anywhere in the code that references neither arms, legs, or the center or the body
idk why i even asked for help...

yeah that's normal, that's the default animation pose for the animator. When all the values are set to 0 that's the pose of the avatar. It won't do that in game 'cause you'll be controlling the bones through locomotion animations

You can use tools that make it 1 button but these tools also don't work 100% in every situation.
If you did that for the avatars I use/sell it'd just give you a model that looks like it's was wearing 4 different outfits one on top of the other.

They are on the model but when moved in poser they do not move the area I want the physics
The model itself has areas like that without the weight painted on them that jiggle in unity, and those areas move with the bones

if the mesh is properly weighted and still doesn't move, you could check if the bone itself set to deform
How do I add phsybone transforms to bones that are constrained?
for some reason on some avatars the finger tracking moves the fingers as expected and some other avatars it just does the gestures, any reason for that? any way to fix it?
Bone was set to deform, I think somehow these new bones are not attaching to the mesh?

It's probably an imposter avatar. You'll have to go to vrchat website and see your avatar info, then delete imposter version from there.

yes, vertex groups with the exact same name as the bones they are weighted to are a requirement for weight painting. as for how many, i'd personally do just one bone per leg, but I've never set up phys bones for that part of the body. using less physbones will have better performance but it's up to you what setup you think works better

have you ever come across this? i really don't understand, even removing all locomotion stuff it still does this
last time i had a problem like this i think i solved it by parenting the hip bone to a "root" bone at 0,0,0, but i haven't had that issue for any model since. i think it's usually an issue with the rotation or export settings. i would try applying all transforms in blender, and making sure the rest and pose positions are the same

How do I make an animation move my head with the avatar? I press play in the animation tab and it works perfectly but when I press play in the gesture manager it does not work properly. It is a trip animation and It perfectly trips in the animation tab but not in the actual play animation

Alright, i dont know what to do anymore.
Contact Receivers that when touched, lets me take my weapon off my back to my hand, and works 100% on PC.
so when my hand gets inside the capsule, it activates the animation to hide or move my weapon from my back to my hand.
i dont own an android/quest to test, so have to ask quest users, but no matter what i do.
its like my VRCContactReceivers are not working on quest side.
yet its the same build, just quest shaders and the audio removed.

- Restart Unity
- Reinstall all packages from VCC
- Close Unity, remove Library folder, Reopen Unity.

hi guys im not rlly sure how to explain this, but i recently added an expression with closed eyes to my avatar and an accessory toggle, which both work perfectly fine, but something weird happens with the eyes occasionally, as if they are partially closed. it only appears that way for others, and i am unable to see it myself (found this out by viewing my avatar on an alt) i tried to get a video of it happening but i wasnt able to get it to happen again. sometimes i would be able to get it to stop by triggering different face expressions but sometimes that didnt work. any idea what may be causing this?

Then the only other idea i have is to play with normal settings in the import settings of your fbx
Is it the thing with the avatar download size or anything? Because when I have my safety levels to show users avatars it just automatically shows the full version even without changing it on their profile

Sounds like another animation is driving the eye blink or similar blendshape
yes. sometimes it uploads fine, sometimes it throws errors and fails. This has been happening for days, across multiple Unity restarts, for seemingly no reason.
it usually takes like 10 upload attempts before it finally succeeds
So check your internet connection stability.

Why does a 3d model look normal in Unity but not in Blender with the material view on? It's pretty inconvenient for model editing

i am having a weird issue where my models eyes are looking down no matter what animation i preview even though its not animated in any of them. ive even tried a completely clean FX Layer with 1 animation and it does it.
found something that may be causing it - before i close the eyes, eye movements like blinking and looking around are working, but after i close and open my eyes, the eyes are still, how do i fix this?
youd have to look at your playable layers. theres no "one fix".
it sounds like you have an animation that does not exit its own state/gets stuck after animation fulfillment (loop not ticked?)

Put an avi together in your scene, then drag it from the hierarchy to the assets
Drag the object from from hierarchy tab into project tab. Preferably as prefab variant.
But if you unpacked the avatar in the scene then prefab variant isn't going to be an option, and original prefab is likely going to break avatar when edited.

Ok, this might be a stupid question guys, but if anyone knows avatars like cleo or hiya by purrinia, I would like to get the hair clip to look like hers. It's nice and clean. Currently, the best thing i have is to use the transclipping setting on poiyomi shader but u can see it's not perfect because it makes the hair behind it see through as well. Any ideas on which setting I should be using ??? The cutout just doesn't look as clean nd soft
Try using cutout rendering, with alpha dithering.

I have facial animations on my avatar, but I was using blendhapes on the head (to change the ear shape and teeth) but the facial animation overrides them and sets them back to 0, even though those parts aren't animated

if someone knows your avatar can go nude and they decide to report you, that's reason enough for VRChat to ban you. NSFW is entirely against TOS.
Someone probably reported you earlier when you weren't in a private world. Reports take a couple days to be looked at and investigated.

You had NSFW avatars, it was an open and shut case. If it was a perma ban this means it wasn't your first offense either.
An avatar creator I know didn't know the limits of NSFW and accidentally got banned for a week and had all their avatars removed so they had to cut out parts and reupload

NSFW is strictly against TOS, and VRChat would know if your avatar has NSFW toggles when they investigate it.

You can't appeal these types of cases, the avatar creator who got banned for the same reasons couldn't appeal it either.
Wearing NSFW is still against TOS, it's as shrimple as that, just take the ban for breaching their rules and try to be better next time.

It's usually when they want to appeal in case of mistake being made by vrchat so discussing in the public only do harm, the same way as prosecution IRL. But in this case they just admitted the guilt, so case closed then.
you can do this via animator logic - make sure you only alter that blendshape in one animation layer at a time.

Its an existing blendshape on the head mesh
Theres 3 different ones I want on at all times, one that makes the ears pointed, and 2 that make the teeth pointed. But the asset I have added that animated more facial expressions makes the blendshapes constantly set to 0 and I am not sure how to override it

And ignore the eyebrows; its the same situation as it is with the ears and teeth. But I've given up hope for those, since they get directly animated from my asset

I've used avatars that use blendshapes to customize them in Unity and all you did was slide the blendshapes into the one you want and they'll save.

you don't need to edit the animator, just find the animations which tweak these blendshapes

does this work to emulate something like write deafults? by reseting the animator to a deafult animation every time theres no input?
to emulate wd you create extra layer with everything set to defaults in animation and place it above main one. its called reset layer.

Anyone know why so many avis break for me in Unity 2022? The weight paint is normal in blender, so that cant be the issue. It completley breaks, even as you can see in the FBX preview
you could try resetting the rig to generic and apply, then doing the humanoid setup again

Hi. Trying to make a .vrm work in quest, when im about to build, it says "this avatar doesnt have an animator". When i add a vrchat animator, it tells me it's deleting some scripts from the .vrm, like "avatar descriptor" and others. Is this normal?
Or should i look into the other ways google tell me to convert .vrm into quest? Thanks

I'd turn that into an FBX with blender - especially if it's from vroid. There are also lots of tutorials for this process

that's a bone. Most likely it's the "boots" object in your first image, but that's a guess, not knowing your avatar.
the object will be listed as a Skinned Mesh Renderer in the inspector

It really depends on how you shortened the hair. Most likely, you will need to refit the bones (not remove them, unless you actually deleted vertices), or redo the weight painting. each bone has specific vertices that it are weighted to it, and if you just delete these bones then those vertexes will not behave as expected

Is there a clean way to make mutually exclusive animation toggles that both control the active state of a mesh?
IE: i have 2 outfit animations that both use the same shirt, but when one of them is on, the other is off, so the shirt turns off.
no matter what I do, my "metals" just won't look metallic in Unity whatsoever. I tried everything already, put the rendering to opaque or cutout, activated 'Reflections & Specular", tried cubemaps and matcaps, tried Clear Coat and Rim Lighting nothing works.

my main avatar has this issue where the legs bend outwards whenever the character is standing still, ive tried doing things like moving the leg bones around and making sure theyre straight but none of it seemed to have any change ingame despite going through multiple different fbxs with the bones moved around

Hey all! i'm dealing with the nightmare that is adding shoes to an avatar that has toe motion and toe bones and think i finally got my weight painting where it needs to be, however, the toecap of the shoe always seems to stick upwards when toe motion is turned on, would anyone have any ideas as to why this is?

no, I said it has nothing to do with the variables in the animator, like the state machine. Animation clips are called from the animator but (at least in the avatar case) don't affect variables there.
there are lots of tutorials about creating animations though. Basically make a new animation file, drag it into some animation layer, then you can select the avatar and choose the new animation from the dropdown at the top of the Animation window.

you putting it to no filter is probably the issue to begin with

Can someone help me figure out how to create this animator logic? Im so lost with this type of stuff. Im trying to have the value of float parameter EyeTrackingActive temporarily copied to float parameter EyeTrackingTemporary when the headpat animation is ON, and EyeTrackingActive set to 0. Once the headpat animation is OFF, the value EyeTrackingTemporary saved will be sent back to EyeTrackingActive, making it the same value as before it was turned off once the Headpat is off. Anyone know?

yeah I've only seen that for worlds, but I can't imagine it's anything more than a station and empties for enter and exit. You really don't need it.

so that bit where it's got tracking control set to animation - yeah, you'll need to undo that. But since this whole layer uses AnyState... you can't just add something after one of those main states, it won't be executed.
You'd have to rework this whole thing to NOT use AnyState, then you can add in a "restore tracking" state before Exit.

need some help making a toggle with toggle assistant im tryna put on a suit and have everything turn off while the suit turns on then have it return to previous state when turned off
I'd use VRC Avatar Parameter Driver for that. Not sure how Toggle Assistant works though.
though you could just make "not suit" be a condition for the other stuff, really depends on how you want to setup your animator

place rotation constraint on every bone of duplicate with source being original bone. doable on quest now.
You could go into that file and change that "Boo" into "Bool" and see if it works. Also is that a whole skeletal system in there or is that just a drawing on the model?

i think you are using old package. update VRLabs/Marker. (that error means scripts using obsolete namespace, Boo.Lang is no longer accessible. this fixed in version 1.2.9 of VRLabs/Marker)
This is a weight painting issue, however, most avatar bases have "shrink" blendshapes that ppl use to avoid this from the inside
Example: pants are toggled on = avatars legs are being shrunk under the pants

i just bought a clothing assets on booth for a rindo model, it came with 2 downloads, one for the asset and the other for its textures. this is my first avatar and i want to know how i put the textures onto the avatar?
have you looked the prefabs that already setup?
most of booth clothes include the prefabs.
there is prefabs but they dont look textured

Many booth avis and assets use lilToon shader and specifiy that you need to download it first. Did you look at dependencies of it?
There's also a chance that it tells you to import the separate textures. That'd be uncommon but not unheard of

That very much looks like you may be missing the textures
theres all of these files as well that i was supposed to download as well but i dont know how to use them

First, you import them to unity
preferably as a folder so they dont go all over the place
You want to assign a material to the clothing and inside that material, you assign these textures
NRM is always a normal map, going into the normal map slot of the material
The ones that say red, orange etc are color ones, they go into the albedo slot of the material
Metallic goes into the metallic map of the material
That's it. You just drag textures into the slots that match by name

This is the prefab view. Personally I never apply materials in the prefab
On the left top, you can click "rindoVer" to get out of the prefab view
You most likely want to put the clothing on the avi, so you should drag the prefab from your assets to your avatar (in the hierarchy on the left) so it becomes one of the sub-items of it
Material slots can be found on the clothing itself, ie if you click the skirt and then look at the inspector (right side)

So you understand why we say that, let me give you an example
Say you want to edit the clothing in blender bc some blendshape clips. Simple, right?
So you would go to blender, make your edits, overwrite this fbx of which you unpacked the prefab and your clothing will vanish, just disappear from the avatar

I did a quick look around here and didnt really see my issue, in unity audio link player wont play? like its always stuck on stop? idk why i used to be able to play audiolink in unity to test things.
also this was an issue before and after i factory reset my PC (just recently got unity and whatnot back onto my pc)
hello, i need help on my avi, i add the lips sink on my avi and put everything where it's should be but nothing do, the mouth still does'nt move when ur speaking. Did someone now how to fix it ?
you may have to unmap the jaw bone in the rig configuration
also, all viseme slots must be filled, nothing can stay empty or say "none"

You use the vrchat creator companion which helps you install the correct unity version. All you need to do is remember to tick the box to install android build support

My avatar has toggles for these drumsticks that i modeled, and they work fine, but I'd like to make it so that they spin whenever the player does a peace sign, and has the toggle for the object on. I've got an animation for an avatar that takes an object from Y rotation 0 to 360, spinning it around. I have it set to loop, however, it slows down as it reaches 360, stops for a moment, then starts again.
Is there a way to have it perpetually spin without the start/stop?
yeah i updated the sdk and plugins and it seems to be good now
select all frames in animation, set it to broken & both tangents constant
this has caused the object to no longer rotate

Im questioning why you didnt just use 2 planes
but you already have a transparent image so youd just need a shader that supports transparency
be aware jaez that it will NOT work for Quest, you will need to do smth else for it to work for a Quest version
