Never had one, i used virtual desktop with the honor router 3 as dedicated streaming router back when i had a quest 2

Paired with a 10.000mah or 20.000mah and PD protocol over usb c to c and that thing stayed charged at aroud 80% not loosing not gaining

You can get a wifi 6 router and the virtual desktop app for about the same price as the official link cable

You can use any USB port that is at least 2.0, but 3.0 is highly recommended.
It doesn't have to be USB C, you can use an A-C cable

A Quest is the standalone vr headset version of the Oculus Rift and Rift S

Left is the Rift S, right is the Quest

Quest has it’s own hardware which is why vrchat on quest is more limited than the pc version. But you can connect the Quest with a cable to your pc or wirelessly using Air Link

If your PC is too weak then PCVR will ultimately be so sucky its unplayable; I still think the Quest is still a good VR headset for people who have never used VR even if you are limited to standlone. You do miss out on content and it won't usually look as polished as it does on PC, but you will be able to communicate with PC players in worlds supporting both platforms

VRChat is working on Physics Bones which is an in-house alternative that while has more features, also will be much more optimized. There was talks about apossibly allowing these on Quest due to how much more performant they are compared to Dynamic Bones, but there is no guarantee and it won't be soon.

Thought I would share this solution to Quest 2 tracking and also see if anyone knows why this was an issue to begin with, as I have now been through 3 separate Quest 2 headsets and finally fixed my problem! To start, I am using a Quest 2 with the VR Cover facial interface and Anker rechargeable batteries. After months of using my first Quest 2 I started having tracking issues. No prompt would appear or anything just the visuals would freeze and then go to a black screen. I also noticed that head tilt would cause issues. When I looked straight up into the sky my tracking would return, but then immediately go away when looking down. My solution was 'slap the headset till it fixes kinda'. That worked for a time, until it didn't. Then I went to a new headset which I brought over my facial interface and batteries again, and within a month same problem. Finally on my 3rd headset I thought 'maybe the facial interface is causing a problem?'. Sure enough PROBLEM SOLVED. No more tracking issues, just went back to the stock facial interface and BOOM, perfect tracking. WTH? It works though for some unclear reason. I still don't understand why but I'm rolling with it. Hope this helps someone else in the future too.

Launch the game and immediately pull the battery from your controller.
Try to have it disconnect before the game has a chance to load. Once the game shows the login screen you are safe to put the battery back in.

Hello everyone! I’m not sure where to specifically go to help for but here seems to be the best start. I’m playing through oculus rift for Vrchat (which is ran through by steamvr) and i’m having…rendering issues? Basically the moment i launch vrchat, the display in game gets all wavy and such (There’s no lag or stuttering) (best way to describe this is that it’s almost like the frames are not synced together; so if i turn my head the video comes up fine but in certain sections it…blurs? Or at certain points the video has sections that get all distorted and wavy) i thought this was a refresh rate issue with the oculus so i changed it to lower and higher settings…nothing. I go and change the graphics settings in game…nothing. I even disabled my intel graphics card to see if that helped…nothing. Here’s the catch though; if i play it on desktop or on oculus quest by their selves, perfectly normal. I know this is an issue in oculus rift specifically but idk how to fix it. And suggestions would be helpful!

This isn't because their avatars are pc only, because I can open their profile and view their standard avatar. Is there a setting I can change so that I can just see everyone's actual avatar instead of having to open everybody's profile individually?

You would have to go into safety settings and turn the avatars on with each rank like new user user known and trusted hope that helps

@dreamy ledge @quiet dagger check to see if vrchat runs on the quest 2 first before oculus and on the pc/laptop by their selves. If they both work fine alone then it’s the communication between the two in oculus rift. After that point uninstall and re-install oculus app and if that still doesn’t work then open up task manager, go into performance and see what happens when you launch it. If nothing is wrong then check to see if your computer’s firewall is blocking Vrchat

i got to set up the headset for the first time and not even halfway through setting it up, im already blown away by how good it is compared to what i was using at the time

headstrap is good (probably because i have longer and thicker hair), i could hardly see the binoculars effect, no screendoor at all, the only thing that kills it is i might actually be allergic to the facial interface

but im ordering a different facial interface, kinda stinks though because the standard facial interface was actually pretty comfy. but the different one im ordering might be a lot more comfy

Vive trackers can't use Oculus Base stations. Both Vive 1.0 and 2.0(both Valve and Vive versions work) base stations are compatible with Vive 2.0 (2018 edition) trackers. It's recommended to have at least 2 base-stations. Since you're using the Oculus Rift you will also have to use OpenVR space-calibrator.

You made a big mistake buying a headset that needs HDMI or Displayport

the Quest 1/2 only needs a USB C port to link to your computer

you can buy offbrand Anker link cords for USB C to USB C, or USB A to USB C if you have no USB C ports on your computer (which you implied you do by getting that adapter)

SO i got my Quest 2 today, the Cable is allready here and it registers in the Oculus software, the speed is about 2gbps and it is connected, but steamVR wont register it(which it did before) and the Quest 2 doesnt want to go in to the "VR World" what should/can i do ?

and OculusLink doesnt want to show up in the Device settings

You can send that evidence in for a #moderation-reports ; not much will happen if you just report via the ingame function

the channel I forwarded ye to has a link to vrchat's ticket system. Thats where you make the report

its ESSENTIAL you include the evidence by uploading the video to the ticket, or uploading it to a website like YouTube and linking that there

Quick quest 2 question. When in-game with a link cable, how come the middle section gets a lower quality rendering when things are far away? Tried two cables and it happens, yet in the Oculus app variant, it's as clear as can be. Is it some sort of new PC VR rendering?

if you ever do that sideloading stuff to your quest it might cause problems to vrchat for some reason

you shoul uninstsll vrchat, restart quest, then reinstall again in that order no steps missed

Hello all, recently bought quest 2 to run on VRChat. However, my place is super small & i usually play my games on my bed. Im hoping there is a sit option where i can sit,, while using the controllers to run? & if so, how do i reset? i set room size & when i sit on my bed, the game knows im sitting I need to fix that & make the room a lil larger.
