Hai people! I hope I'm not troubling you... But I have new Quest 3S, personally, I prefer playing through Steam VR and launch VR-Chat from my laptop. But sometimes, when I wanna press menu button and go to desktop... Steam VR crashes, its not matter if its cable or Wi-Fi link... Also in big worlds it also crashes down...

I'm planning to buy 3.2 Gen 1 cable 5Gbit/S and planning to connect the internet via cable to my laptop and try both options to play

Right now I have 480Mbit/S cable and 200Mbit/S Wi-Fi, the laptop itself should be powerful enough for VR

The question is, would it help me to resolve those problems or not? Specifically buying some good-cables

(Sorry for such big and complicated question, also I am a not native English speaker, so...)

Laptop main specifications are RTX 3060 6GB 130W, Ryzen 5 5600H 45W, 24GB RAM, USB C 10Gbps (3.2 gen2)

Hi! I would definitely look into the cable link. Also, quest aren’t entirely good and people complain a lot about what you’re asking so I would try getting some better cable links to see if it fixes your issue.

Ahh…not really free, but it’s worth it. I use a gaming laptop and it has many presets and settings that’ll help your issue. It’s about $24.99 on oculus but the software for the laptop is free

I do recommend saving for it if possible because it is wireless meaning no wires

Vrchat has its own logging screen, you’ll just need to make sure you press something like “login with vrchat” and not the quest or steam option

Quests has a login so it can attached your profile and share images to Facebook/instagram if you choose to do so

If ur playing through pc, make sure the meta horizon app is updated, the vr itself is, and the horizon app is open. You might also wanna make sure you have Steam up and running !

Comfort strap yes. I can't say anything on the silicone covers as I only have the basic one that came with the headset for the cushion. As for the cable make sure you did your research that it has the proper data speed to use other wise the quest or the meta app may say it's not compatible and or act like it's not there and say it can't find it.

I saw the silicone cover of other vendors but the price is just outrageous and didn’t think it justified. I saw there was some bundle and I do need some way to protect my headset and controllers. The controller strap that manufacturers is like the Nintendo Wii which they suck for quick waist flick movement. The camera lens protection on the sensor lens is good for the augmented reality and tracking so I don’t got worried about that in the future for minor scratch mark.

I like SynTech company so self bias but getting the official Meta link cable is just a scam as there is no difference of Type C.

Popular opinion: the quest 2 is an over heating peice of crap that dies after an hour and a half of game play and lags/crashes way to much and has the worst stick drift/controller problems of any gaming system

Bandaid fix would be setting up some deadzone settings (Settings>Device>Controllers>Thumbstick Range and Deadzone in the quest menu)

if your controllers arent on a warranty though you could mess with using compressed air, machine cleaning solutions/sprays or just full on watching a tutorial that goes over how to "safely" pull apart your controller

if all else fails you'll likely have to send in your controller for repairs or buy new ones

one long-time fix for it is force updating your oculus-drivers

(drive you installed the app on):/Oculus/Support/oculus-drivers then run the application and re-open your oculus app, it might take a few tries for it to properly work

if that doesnt work then id suggest just avoid the oculus/meta app all together and just use steamlink, if you've got good wifi then its FAR more optimized

I’d personally contact meta to see what they could do for you. If you still had it, you could have had a possible replacement sent to you but if its the actual lens itself, I recommend reaching out to their support.

I'm tired of quest worlds saying PC/Quest and then just being quest crashers. There needs to be a way to let world authors know that their Quest version is not working or is crashing people. One world I joined had no floor collider for quest, so you would spawn in and just keep falling and dying over and over again.

Like, it is doable but something you would have to put together yourself, there is no module you can simply attach.
And while technically doable on Quest standalone (I think, most likely you would need phone or computer for processing) I would really not recommend it, face tracking on standalone vrchat with a Quest Pro is also not possible nowadays.

Mouth tracking is the easiest anyhow, just look up Project Babble.

For eyetracking all I can point you towards is EyetrackVR.

my head would pound every time i played vr til i got that. the weight of the battery pack on the back distributes the weight and it has a super comfy head strap, had it for almost a year now and i dont regret it

anyone here who used to have the "queued" problem when loading avatars fixed theirs? I got my quest 3 a few days ago and this downloading and queued problem is driving me insane, i've been looking online for solutions but they haven't worked such as making sure you're on 5GHZ not 2.4ghz, checking internet speed which mine is fast, turning off and on wi-fi and so fourth.

On my pc it is fine, avatars load quickly (new ones not preloaded ones) and worlds do too. but on my quest its like it struggles for 5mins to finally show a new person's avatar when they change it. It's especially annoying when my friend (who is a quest 3 user) is able to see the other person's avatar before i can with me still waiting there for 5 mins before seeing it.

Just to add on, i heavily encourage getting a warrantee on it and swapping it out with a new one before it expires
Quest 3/3s is much more reliable than the Quest 2 but its a good thing to do
