I love it, the resolution, the lenses in general and the comfort without the elite strap is way better in my opinion.

I’ve used the 1 and 2 and while the quest 1 had less grip, it didn’t dig into your skull and make it unbearable to use after 5 minutes

yeah I had a much worse problem in the Quest 2 with my glasses. especially when I stripped the VR from my face then my own glasses always got stuck in the visor, which doesn't happen to me with the new Q3

as long as they are not metal frames you should be generally alright if you push the front of the headset away from your eyes when taking off

Hello everyone, I have a Quest V2, and I'm having a small issue with it. When I try to turn it on, it starts up normally, but after a few seconds, it suddenly turns off, as if the battery is depleted. I charged it all afternoon, and I can't get past the initial setup menu even after resetting it. Has anyone experienced this issue, and does anyone know what needs to be done to fix it? Thank you.

have you checked ur pc specs? there are certain specifications that you need to have in order to run it. also, like ginka said check to see if your drivers are outdated or need updates

I can bring up the main quick menu and all that, but how do I bring up the action menu where I can change my avatars height and etc with just finger tracking? I've try'd all fingers but nothing bring up that menu. The one that u can change height and toggle things off

When u pinch to open menu, beside ur profile name there are the 3 bars (or above) select that then scroll for expressions and edit there. There is no height options actually.. only toggles

but the only way to fix it for a longer duration is either replacing the potentiometers in the controllers, or replacing the controllers entirely

if your quest is still relatively new, you can contact meta support and ask for a replacement

hello!! i had a question , i have a very old quest 2 that is starting to bite the dust. battery drains insanely, both controllers have horrid constant drift so bad i cant even lock myself in place in the menu let alone open and close it. crashes alot too, and i bought it the month quest 2 came out so overall it is very ready to retire. Should i invest in another quest 2 or wait a bit and get the 3rd? Is there a huge difference between the two or is it just to be fancier?

It does work, but it really shouldn’t be used unless you can control how often and where it’s used, and especially as how many layers would be staked at once

we've never supported cutout on Quest because the Quest GPU really does not like transparency! Even meta says "don't do cutout, fade, or any form of transparency!"

If its ever worked on Quest, it was a bug or mistake.

The graphics chip is called a "tile-based GPU" and because of how it works, sorting out what draws in front of what when transparency is involved is really expensive and eats up a lot of power and frames. It's the tradeoff for... well, fitting on your face. 😄

Some games get away with doing transparency on Quest because they can control how much is on the screen at once. Since people in VRChat make all the avatars, we can ask them nicely not to do things, but... considering how many people ignore the big red "this is REALLY BAD for performance, please don't do this!!" errors in our SDK, I don't have much hope.

Know one reason it wasn't implemented was because of Unity 2019 at the time, not sure if there were any other reasons they shelved it.

I've watched videos where people say meta quest players get blocked usually and can't even join most worlds, and that they can't find a lot of other people. Clearing the cache either does little or nothing to fix that problem, it is an issue with being RAM limited, which at least the Quest 2 headset almost always is (it has 6GB of RAM/memory, 4GB that VRChat can use), there is nothing you can do except be in worlds that take up less RAM and using avatars that use less RAM.

That 7MB for avatars is for example almost always a lie, check the texture memory for a portion of what the avatar actually takes up (it only accounts for textures, but nothing else sadly).

And while I haven't heard of it being used as a solution, logically, if you don't run anything in the background (like music playing), only keep one guardian in the guardian cache and basically use as few advanced features as possible then it might be better, since each of those features also take up RAM.

If you ever plan to connect your Quest to PC. I recommend using ALVR. Or if you want to keep it simple, Look for the Steam Link App.

Both work better than airlink with higher refresh rates and lower latency.

Also, both are FREE!

ALVR also has a full range of customization options for tweaking things to your liking, but it is more advanced and requires sidequest

and you need to be able to sideload the ALVR client onto ur quest, plus you gotta use ADB if you're over USB

the various methods of streaming pcvr to a quest have their own differences, but in terms of the game itself it shouldn't change how it works

the game is still running on your computer and being streamed to your headset

if it's running on PC, it shouldn't matter how you stream it to your Quest. It'll always run on that PC, so you can see PC avatars and stuff

There's other reasons you may use a particular streamer over another, but it shouldn't affect the game too much.

There is a bug on Quest where Emissions on Avatars What particles are black boxes And there's no normals or roughness on certain avatars idk if thats optimized specifically for quest but it doesnt happen on PC

If you got the money, it’s definitely worth the upgrade. It’s miles ahead of the Q2. The increased resolution per eye, more usable for content, the increased FOV, the passthrough is more usable, though keep in mind it is still a bit static in a dark room, more lightweight and better counterbalance thanks to the redesigned normal strap

the tracking rings are there for a reason, tracking. Without them, you easily lose tracking compared to quest 2 controllers

quest 3 is really only a worth upgrade if you play standalone and dont have a pc

quest pro controllers are honestly the way to go going foward with vr controllers
