You'd only ever need an active cable if your PC didn't support USB-C. otherwise any cable with at least 5gbps transfer rates is what you are looking for. Never cheap out on a cable other3ise you're just gonna bottleneck your connection

Active cables are those that have Teo separate connections, one for data and the other for dedicated power. Bout the only way to get decent data transfer rates while also keeping your headset powered over standard USB-A

The reason I ask is because the key phrase here is "certain game worlds" world creators have the option to disable scaling in their worlds if they so choose, which makes perfect sense for games.

Right! Which was never an issue before, if it scales to a specific height then that makes sense.

Me and my friends have had issues in two separate worlds where for some reason it'll force us to be really big or really small for no reason, and then we cannot adjust the height anymore.

It's not always the case, a good part of it is just provided instructions that has the buyer use an SDK included in their package, and if you've never uploaded before, you wouldn't necessarily know better

Now I have some terrible home connection but it’s weird that recently when loading the game or a new world it would take awfully long for the world loading to even get pass 0% or see avatar icons in menus, anyone else have a similar issue?

This previously wasn’t a problem as it would be slow but still show progress, but now it’s like the connection is fully dead till it wants to work, and doesn’t stutter again

Could be a variety of factors, your connection quality definitely one of them. Couple things you can try is giv8ng your headset priority bandwidth in your router settings, or reinstalling vrc. Clearing your boundary cache etc.

Connected it to mobile app. Was able to connect using cable to pc. But can't air link it. Infinite search for pc. My smartphone with 5 GHz support says that modem works at 5 GHz.

Now deleted it from mobile up and reinstalling oculus app on windows using option from oculus installer.

and it "works"
would recommend checking it out if ur into tinkering with fbt, whether using on steamvr, or on quest

since u can actually get the server running on an android phone, or even the quest itself too, but these 2 wont work with joycon afaik

There never will be due to hardware limitations. Quest standalone will only ever auto load poor or better avatars. Since most people like to use unoptimized avatars and are very poor, those will always have to be manually turned on regardless of your shield settings.

The best combination would be Q3 with airlink. Better lenses mean better resolution. Standalone is also a bit better, though only by a small amount.

Yes and no. Q3 does support wifi 6E but you need a router that also supports it. So it depends on what you have since it is a newer standard it is more expensive

it helped me at least though going from Q2 to Q3, Q2 was horrible and unusable on my WiFi, meanwhile Q3 works perfectly fine (6E is supported)

the Q2 also worked fine using another brand of accesspoint(TP-Link), but that one was broken I think, idk, every power outage or reboot I'd have to fix it again for hours 😢 hence I got rid of it

Q2 supports wifi6. That's 1200 Mbps. Which is not bad, it depends on other factors too which is why I don't really use wifi performance when comparing the two since it is all relative. Wont do nuch good if you have potato wifi lol.. It's already obvious Q3 I'd better in virtually every way as is.

also speed wasn't the issue, link speed was like 1.2gbps and a speedtest hit my max capable download speed at home which is over the max airlink speed, so that all should be fine

this accesspoint probably does something different than the others which the Q2 can't really handle, it's weird, I had hoped it was my pc but it wasn't so I just returned it to amazon and waited for the Q3 with better WiFi

Basically you'll set up SteamVR so that the headset tracks itself and the controllers track via base station. You'd have to leave one of the Q2 controllers on to "trick it" there are youtube videos explaining how to set it up, and use VR Space Calibrator.

You can't download anything from the phone app without your headset being paired. All starting a download from your phone does is tell your headset to begin the download if they are connected.

It's similar to the Xbox app or the ps app when you download games from the app, instructions are just pushed to the console.

The only way for you to see your own imposter is while viewing the detail of the avatar (and there will be an extra button below where the avatar is spinning).

They do not work in first person.

They are a nice solution to not seeing anything, but they look rough up close.

The most you can hope for is auto turning on avatars from Poor or better. If someone has a very poor performing avatar you will always have to manually turn them on. Regardless of settings

The only correct response would be to ask someone to upload for you, typically the one you commissioned. That involves giving them your trust and login information.

Most people here would also advise that you do not do this. Sure way of getting your account stolen. Proceed at your own risk.

Q3 is better in virtually every way. Better lenses, lighter weight, better processor. If you had the choice between the two. Q3 is a no brainer, if you wanted cheaper Q2 is the answer

Q3 might also need an elite strap or so which is + 40/70eur depending on which one, while current promo for the Q2 is it includes it, so it's more like double the price. But Q3 default strap is better than Q2 imo

Just to chime in as well, the official quest elite strap has been reported to randomly die after not a lot of use as well as being prone to cracking, I'd consider looking in the direction of aftermarket accessories

It's not just about avatars and worlds. Take this for an example. I pay for a world creators patreon because I like their work. In turn, I get VIP access to their worlds. In order to make this happen. I had to sign up for patron > link to discord > link discord to a bot that links to vr chat > wait x amount of time.

Now things like this can all be done in hose within vr chat.

On standalone, the quest runs at about max capacity the whole time. If it overheats even a little bit crashing can occur. I've cut down on my crashes by having a fan blowing directly on it.

Dude Im absolutely despiseing this new update. Low memory every time I change into a different avatar and for others when Ive clear content Cache already. Not only that but now the shaders or graphics on some avatars are absolutely garbage. Pc users get nice things yet we cant? This is honestly ridiculous. Its like they dont care about quest users.

Obviously PC is gonna have better quality, its a whole computer doing the rendering as opposed to a tiny chip built into the quest. You have to keep your expectations in line with that. low memory is there to keep you from crashing to home and will eventually clear up on its own, just give it time. Shaders will be updated with future patches.

Yes. You start the process in headset on VRC, in your settings is an "Upgrade" option, which will generate a token that you then use on VRC website, if you havent already made an account, you would do so at that time.

Hmm, o.k. well i tried out an old game that I played on the oculus rift DK1 !!! years back (Lunar Flight) and thought i might play it in VR through steam VR. Instead, I was presented with a flat screen inside VR onto which the game was projected. So I wonder why it was possible to play that game in stereoscopic VR back then, but not now with new equipment? It also says that it supports Rift DK1 and 2, but nothing about Quest. Why is that so? All that is needed is a side by side output of the two perspectives

Avatar audio was never supposed to be supported on Quest. Additionally, an update to shaders is pending, but oftentimes, the reason an avatar is broken post update is because it was using a modified SDK, avatars that are created with the official SDK were not affected.

You will never be able to touch the portion of storage used for the system, thats just the nature of how this and anything else works. As for clearing the cache, there really is no way, per se. You may be able to via SideQuest, but im not familiar with it enough to say for sure. The most you can do is go to Settings > Storage > Manage Storage and filter for the available options and change the sorting to Largest to see what the biggest offenders are and delete them one by one manually.

One thing you can delete, which can take up space is your Boundary cache, if you have multiple boundaries set up. sometimes that helps a bit.

Then your issue is based on the birthrate you used when you first made your account. My recommendation is to log in via quest, and set your correct age as a litmus test. Content gating within vrc is based on this. Before that, it's likely your content gsting defaults wete never changed. Check your privacy and safety settings to make sure you can toggle the tags individually

If thr problem persists then there is a disconnect in the system from when you turned 18 and they may be able to help you correct your account. But see if you can modify your gating settings first
