half the problem is attempting to implement "simulated weight". if everything is weightless, sword fighting becomes hard because it just feels like you're attempting to slap the air. games like boneworks implement "simulated weight" quite well, but not a lot of games attempt it because doing it wrong can make it feel like the game is in slow motion.
it's just a difficult thing overall to implement.
