Does anyone here know anything about the 3DS? I got a used one for my sister for Christmas, and she was having no issues until thin flashing stripes started appearing on the bottom screen. She used to be able to get rid of the lines by heating up the 3DS under a light, but the lines got worse. Increasing the brightness setting used to get rid of the lines, but it is max brightness now and they won't go away. The bottom screen is completely useless, and it renders many of the games purchased unplayable. Can anyone help?

You'll need to replace that screen.

If it is "Just" a solder join on either end of the ribbon cable you may be able to reflow it, but i doubt it, so you'd likely need a new screen + ribbon cable. (would replace ribbon too to be safe)

Especially with the behaviour you described this is 100% solder joints or traces going bad.

it is better to buy a new 3ds entirely, that screen's pixel is basically dead and its harder to replace screens.

wiiu and 3ds eshops are going to be shutdown anyway so kinda irrelevant now unless you homebrew the 3ds.
