I'm wondering where the issues are. I wouldn't mind settings to unload some work onto my client, or to disable some safety measures, for better tracking (like trusting the data of friended users). Syncing between clients won't work very well at the moment though, the delay between users appears to be about 1.5 seconds.
Speaking of which, interacting with other people, and keeping the flow of conversations, is a little bit difficult with a 1500ms ping.

Movement most likely uses UDP, a really unreliable but heckin fast protocol often used for rapidly-updating packets.
The normal method for creating a packet is to send data in a sequence. Packet start, packet data, packet end. This is often accomplished by a thingy called a Buffer, or as the old java boy in me likes to call it, streaming.
Assuming movement tracks X, Y, Z, Pi, Ya, Ro-- it'll constantly be sending the server that data over and over again. If you send just the change in data, that doesn't work well with UDP-- it has to be the exact numbers.
To put a tl;dr: Increasing the network speed, while making things more responsive, will also increase bandwidth used by connection. In other words, it's not a form of optimization.

Changes in data probably doesn't work, as you say. There's a need for even tiny distances to be tracked, IK uses some difficult maths, there might be syncing problems, and the IK might get inaccurate after a long time since every change is relative and not absolute.
Increasing speed would decrease the delay, and at a cost like you say. But I don't know how much that is. If it's expensive because of AWS, then I understand, but if it's for the sake of clients with bad connection - come at me! I want it faster. (speaking of which, we're also limited by the speed of which clients send their IK data)

AWS payment models mostly attacks server uptime and bandwidth usage, so it would increase cost of the servers.. as you predict.
However, increasing the update rate wouldn't be an ideal solution for users with a bad connection. Solutions like accelerating traffic would, but not like VRC has the budget to do so-- that shiz is expensive af.
On top of that, if the data being sent is really large, another issue that comes to rise is greater CPU power being used. It's extremely doubtful VRC does networking computations on a compute shader, that's just odd design-- so for extremely low end systems that have trouble running VRC as is, that could be a deal-breaker, resulting in worse ping due to stressing out the computer too much to respond fast enough.

Yeah, more bandwidth = more cost.
p2p is amazing when it comes to counteracting that, but will always remain a fatal move for VRChat. Before the days of relay servers, it was entirely possible to just snap someone's funny router numbers with the p2p system. It works like direct connections to all user's computers rather than a managed connection to a server, meaning it's possible to trace back where an funny number came from-- hence the old video player exploit.
These days, with relay servers to counter that, the only funny number you're getting is from a relay server.

And given the security risk with p2p, it's practically certain VRC will not go back to it-- in weird enough cases, they can even get in trouble for doing so. Or not, legal stuff ain't my forte.
Also, the Steam Datagram Relay (as it's officially called) kind of works as an assurance to help keep VRC servers safe. You would get faster connection if you were to just ignore it, yes-- but that also eliminates the protections relay gives server, with the most important one being DDoS protection.
with the amount of [REDACTED] in the game, would not be surprised if a lot of them are itching for DDoS attacks.

I think it's from there audio so you have to mute them. My quest was blasted with a loud noise and I couldn't hear anything until I reloaded. I've also had my game just close on me. I usually mute low trust ranks in public lobbies to stay safe.

Open the radial menu by holding the quick menu button (or r on desktop mode), go into it's settings, and disable AFK detection
If you can't select anything in the radial menu, you likely have flick select on - move the cursor to one of the menu options, then 'flick' the cursor back to the middle. You can toggle flick select vs trigger select in the radial menu's options, as well

Hey everyone, I’m having problems with adding and removing favorited avatars and so far nothing seems to fix the problem I’m dealing with. In the game I’m usually am able to unfavorite any of the 25 avatars I have. however, lately it has been letting me unfavorite some avatars but when I go to check, none of the avatars I remove are gone. After this occurs i cannot unfavorite the avatar at all, not even through the vrchat website. I have attempted to fix the problem through uninstalling/reinstalling vrchat, logging out and back in and nothing works. If anyone has any possible solutions it would be much appreciated.

Whenever I open vrchat with VPN it would'nt connect(or some ocasions just crashes). It works when I connect to steam without VPN but I NEED a vpn when I want to connect with oculus software version of VRChat or when ruuning on quest standalone. (ISP block oculus/facebook)

But since my pc is under spec, I have to connect to vpn from pc then hotspot it to my quest. Otherwise if I connect directly with quest I get blocked by my ISP for accessing facebook/meta domains.

I think this'll work. I'm just woried if I just connect my quest to internet normaly and meta fiqures out my location, I might get banned when I want to upload my games to the quest store.
There has been news about Meta banning people randomly now if Meta finds out the player is from a highly sanctioned country, the chances would probably increase.
Ugh bypassing restrictions is frustrating :/

ive had similar issues with steam but the main issue i usually have is my network usage dropping to zero every so often when downloading updates then coming back up. restart steam (closing in task manager and all) and reopen it. if that doesnt fix the issue, id suggest just waiting a while and doing a full restart on your pc. sometimes steam acts up and waiting a while and trying again has helped me in the past
