Porting an avatar to Quest can be easy or impossible, depending on the details. Some avatars have an impossible amount of polys to decimate. Some rely on transparency. etc

Poor performing avatars in PC VRC are a big reason frame rates drop.. the CPU get's overloaded trying to do all the physics calculations.. and if you limit dynamic bone usage, sometimes weird stuff happens (like tails sticking straight up). There should be a way to authors to see what their avatars look like with limited dynamic mode turned on in the SDK for testing.

i use a 1070 as well, it isn't very laggy; but that's probably because vrchat may be more cpu dependant.

VRChat is really CPU dependent. On a 3080 and my framerate isn't affected even if I pump supersampling to 200% at 144hz. But most other games benefit really nicely from a GPU. 3060ti is probably a good balance of cost and power (my old 1070 still did OK if I kept my index at 80 hz, and did well with older headsets)

Technically the quest isn't nearly as limited as people think most avis are in the 100k tri range on quest. Over the 7500 recommended limit

If you want to avoid 99% of avatar based crash methods, you can leave all safety settings on, but just turn off custom animations for all non-friends.
That way you can still see everything normally, but you won't get any sound spam or visual spam, and anyone attempting to activate a crash won't be able to.

Needing to re-upload every avatar for Quest, was just far too fiddly for most to bother with.

I use it on one of my avatars that can spawn a mo-ped, to allow me to sit on it without my legs going.
And am working on one with roller blades that it will be useful for.
Want to learn how to enable and disable it with a toggle from inside the animator though.
