I know VRC eats up ram because people dont optpmize their avatars or worlds and have like 5 textures per piece of clothing. If I’m in a word with a bunch of people (no safety settings) I’ll usually get 40-50 frames. But then again I don’t go by the fps in the vrc menu I go with what my toolkit tells me (seems to be more accurate sometimes)

Lots and lots of video apps are Chromecast compatible, I can say it’s nice to be able to put YouTube or something on a TV, and control it from your phone or computer

Well id first suggest using the oculus store version unless you need SteamVR's options

Most people are extremely lazy and dont optimize there avatar and get a 'very bad' avater performance ranking.
Because of that they are blocked, if you want to see them, you gotta lower the setting to allow them to show up.

The difference in performance between excellent, good and medium is not extreme enough to allow you to see just the best.

Problem with the oculus/facebook products is that they dont natively run on SteamVR.
This means the software has to go true facebook's jazz and then get send to steamVR
So your running and using both programs to just play

It only works for private avatars but yes you can set up a gesture to turn on third person. It involves adding a camera to your avatar. When worn, you will observe the game from the camera’s perspective instead of your viewpoint. If you disable the camera it jumps back to first person. Whatever you do to move the camera is up to you

first time pc builder here - building specific for top of the line VR machine - would you guys recommend 5900x or 5950x for vr or does it not matter at that point?

thats pretty recent so i dont think either would be a problem as long as their is no specific incompatibility with the game you are looking to play.

If you do that you will also need basestations. Either from valve or from htc

That's a pretty expensive setup. I'm just going full index. I currently use a wmr headset with index controllers, and it works, but it's not ideal. The controllers and headset position don't sync perfectly, so the more you walk away from the center of the room, the more they drift apart

People underestimate how stupidly easy it is to make friends in this game in public
Literally waving at people is an extremely effective way to get people to more towards you, you ask how there day is going and done!
That person will probally stick around for a fair while, follow you if they arent together with someone else and just keep waving and saying hello to get a nice group going.

And yes- Its really that stupid, dont try to force meme's on people, dont be the world class actor your not for people. Just say hello.

Quest with ALVR allows fingertracking like with Index controllers (cause you're emulating them) but it's not possible to move around then until you grab your controllers again. Nice to see one time nonetheless. But i took like 1000 Screenshots accidentally.
