There's a horror map I forget the name of, that involves collecting teddy bears whilst being chased around an open map. Is one that just stood out to me a little due to it being based around active threat based horror rather than scripted horror like most. Might be worth finding.

Eh, I don't know I feel like VRChat sorta dragged me into this self inflicted torment with no avenue for me to improve or make it better. Chasing a past that once existed but that no longer exists and feeling alien within a public space that doesn't resemble what you were used to back in the day. Knowing full well about these issues manifesting before and not taking opportunities and what-if scenarios that could've lead to better situations and a much healthier outlook on VRChat. Knowing that improvements to the social structure, social features and monetization methods to improve quality seems unlikely at this point and it being hard to see any opportunity for community input on improvements. I do find comfort in memories and recognizing the good vibes of the past when everyone were new and not corrupted by influencers and other community politics. It's rough though, but again that's par for the course of a social platform becoming successful.

I honestly really can't stand scripted horror. Jump scares feel cheap, and rail roading the player along puts me to sleep since it kills all immersion.

@brisk bone Hmm. So I guess you've always preferred public worlds specifically and miss the early days of them? You seem to have connected your experience of the game into concern over it's overall state, and how new comers experience it as much as how your day to day experiences might go.

For me, I obviously started out in public like anyone, and over time gradually transferred towards mainly F+, and also privates plenty often. So for me my experience of the game has remained stable over the last year and some, only changing slightly based on making new friends/friend groups, or seeing less of others. I do have fond memories for the old unpredictable and highly explorative days of public instances, but there's no sense of decline for me either.

My normal routine these days, is to check my favourites list in social to see if any close friends are on. 80% of the time there'll be someone I'm interested in seeing, so I end up in a F+ or private instance. If that's not the case, I check the general full friends list to see if there's anyone I've not visited for a while, and will try hanging or reconnecting with some rarer people. If nothing in there feels appealing, I'll go public and see where it takes me. Usually until someone joins on me.

@drowsy solar Usually I honestly just go to the common more populated ones like the BlackCat or Shrine, but that's because I'm specifically looking for the more chaotic/unpredictable scenes in those moments. For newer users, I'd probably recommend trying out some of the more mid population worlds. Places that are still active but a little more off the beaten path.

You can also press a button combo (i forgot it sadly but a quick google should show it) for if you got friends that dont have a VRC account.

having a bit of issues with the menu. when I go to avatar or social and my cursor hovers over them they just start sliding to the right but im touching my thumbstick or holding trigger to move it and its not a controller problem because I went over to pavlov and it worked fine. and I wasn't moving to the right constantly so its not a controller problem

With some clever design and some of the more recent tricks invented by the community, it'd be possible to create a 3rd person camera for an avatar, but it'd require someone to properly know what they're doing. Not an obvious process.

In your steam library, right click on VRChat and select Properties. In the General tab you will see a button called "Set Launch Optons..."

Paste that line into there.

#

There were more changes to FBT than just calibration this patch, so this is not guaranteed to fix any issues you may be having. If your issues are more complex, it usually boils down to old model fixes breaking.

It's just that this "New and Improved" way is more complicated then just a T-Posing Avatar that I can accurately align myself to it 100% of the time in the 1st Try is perfectly fine and doesn't need to be changed.

On top of that, why not have a Option for how to do it, if people prefer a Static Avatar in T-Pose then give them the Option if it's easier for them

Still don't think it was neccessary for change. If their worry there is tracking issues 95% of the time TrackingIssues is due to the User's Tacker Placement and Coverage of the Play Space

If they wanna "Fix" Full Body then give them more reasons to get Full Body, make it easier to make Full Body Compatable Avatars, give more ways to interact with the enviroment as a Full Body User... give people a Reason to make that pricey Investment into Full Body. Blade & Sorcery Did this well with their Full Body, like one example is if I kick a NPC I actually Kick them. I can literally Drop Kick a NPC, I can Hip Thrust them.

I know VRChat isn't a Fighting Game but I'm very certian the devs can think of some way to make going Full Body a much more worthwhile Investment,

You can do what you want via Udon as you can track foot and hip positions with the world. Also FBT tracking adds a lot more depth to avatar creation.

Quset Link to Index comparison: unless i'm blind, index and quest FOV feels the same. refresh rate is more immersive, lenses have way more glare than quest though. index headset is way more comfortable, also it's probably the refresh rate but i don't feel as dizzying in it compared to quest. don't like the controllers as much. CV1's were most comfortable, then Quest, then index. maybe i have to get used to them. all in all straight upgrade for fullbody, can get used to controllers

You do. Just don't feel it. It's nothing bad. Just after using a bunch of headsets side by side, you can feel a difference in the controller tracking between something like qust on PC, and Rift S. Wmr also has a slightly higher latency as well

Again, it's so small you'd never tell if you just used one. But it is enough to affect expert+ beatsaber

only quest has true finger/hand tracking. The index controllers only track how much you open or close your fingers (but still each finger individually). Vive doesnt track fingers at all and the touch controllers that come with the rift s and quest have a gesture system to kind of imitate finger tracking

@vocal shard I would like that too. I love the idea of a radial menu, but the Action Menu is a frustrating implementation of one.

Previously, to toggle gesture lock, you could push a single button bound to your choice. With the Action Menu, there's a minimum of three actions: push to open, flick the joystick to the gesture toggle, then push again to close. I wish we had the option to have the Action Menu close when selecting something, and the option to have the Action Menu show while a button is being held down, rather than a toggle. Regardless, reusing the old gesture toggle binding for the new Action Menu seems like a cheap move - radial menus are awesome but not a replacement for direct button bindings.

A friend of mine had the faulty trackpad issue on one of his controllers, and sent it in to HTC for repair not knowing any better.
Took two months before they contacted him to say they'd investigated it.
Told him it was damage caused by the user, and that he'd have to pay a £90 repair fee, or pay for them to ship it back unrepaired. Basically lied about the fault and held it for ransom.

He was stuck going around VR-Chat with his avatar in a sling for pretty much 5 months. To get one controller back, and had to pay for it. He wished he'd just bought a new one on day one or tried a self repair. Because he'd have had it within the week that way.
