The hard part is telling whether or not the avatar is a crasher or not. Usually they're dumb enough to threaten you with a crasher though. you can either make yourself one with stuff from websites like deviant art, or you can go to avatar worlds in vrchat and use public avatars
and if the avatars have gestures you can use them with shift + f1 to f8

Specifically either left shift F1 to f8 controls your left hand gesture and right shift F1 to F8 controls your right hand gesture. You can have two going at once, F1 for both left and right shift is relaxed hand, which on most avatars, turns all gestures off.
Right now it makes no difference but soon there will be left and right specific gestures

When I used my Vive, I used a jury-rigged comfort mod, where I placed a small beanbag or rolled up sock just under the front of the top strap, so that it was resting above my forehead.
I found it helped redistribute how the weight rested, and lifted up the front of the Vive taking pressure off of my cheek bones.
Similar to just adjusting the top strap of course, but I found this worked in a way that a simple tighter top strap didn't quite accomplish.
After this adjustment could use my Vive for 8+ sessions without any issue.
When I got my Index, I discovered it had the opposite problem that my Vive did. Rather than placing too much weight on my cheek bones, it put too much pressure on my brow.
The solution I found for this, was to wrap some soft cloth around the lower part of the rear strap, to add more padding and adjust the shape back there.
Somehow that caused the headset to sit in a much more correct feeling position. Was in VR for 11 hours on Saturday. Zero comfort issues.
So it's something well worth just tinkering with a bit.

That’s good to hear Squishy. My issue with quest is it hurts cheekbones as well. My own counterweight gets off of the issue but then I feel pain on the top of my head instead due to the increased overall weight

Some people use modified versions of the game to do things they shouldn’t. All you need to know is only use versions of the game downloaded from Steam or Oculus. Don’t download it form anywhere else and you are fine.

To keep a balance. Memory is one thing, but the bigger reason seems to be a balance between the world creators and others. When favorites were first announced, many avatar world creators were against the idea since it would mean people would just come to their world once to take an avatar and not have to come back every time they want to use the avatars, like had been the case for years.
The number of favorites was limited to 3 to still promote returning to worlds and keeping traffic up, but eventually it was raised to 16
