You should make a VRChat account when possible, most people turn off personal space as it hides people that come too close to you which can be annoying sometimes.

comfort turning makes it so your view in VR snaps when you turn with the controller

For a more stable experience a GPU with at least 6 GB of VRAM so like the GTX 1660, RTX 2060, RX 5600 XT

Again a 1060 3 GB will be okay, I used to use one with a Rift CV1 but at times the experience wasn't exactly great due to a lack of VRAM causing low FPS until I restarted VRChat and SteamVR I did notice that running VRChat from the oculus app instead did help lower VRAM usage but this was about a year ago or so.

Apparently it's because there's two versions of the sound drivers: Speaker (vive pro mutimedia) and Vive pro (Nvidia HD audio)
The mic seems to change as well, sometimes I'm low pitch, other times it's fairly high and totally different, apparently

You can't change an avatar like that since it's someone else's that they are just sharing, your best bet is to make on yourself, or get in contact with the avatar Creator and see if they might give you a copy to modify

I have a question regarding steam bindings with the oculus touch controllers. I have an avatar (not one of my creations but one I found) that pulls out weapons when my thumbs touch the joysticks, so I went to the steam bindings and set "joystick touch" to "none". Now when I touch the sticks nothing happens, which is good, but when I move the joysticks to walk or turn the camera my avatar will pull out it's weapons.

I guess the best way to word my question is: Is it possible for me to set the steam bindings so that moving the sticks doesn't activate the touch sensors on the sticks?

@rough pewter you need to have your fingers resting on the trigger and the grip button at the same time that you touch the stick. The touch Controllers aren't configured like "this button activates this gesture"

It tries to read your fingers position on all the available sensors at the same time and use those combinations to track the gestures. If you have your fingers resting on the trigger and grip button while your thumb is touching the stick, that should be the neutral hand position and no animations should play unless you configured the avatar to play an animation on the blank gesture slot..

you can download a text to speech program and then use something like a virtual audio cable to redirect the tts to a virtual microphone and use that. Most vr mutes just gesture to communicate

The problem for me isn't that people want more things, its when people use clients to take matters into their own hands to change limits, not caring why there are limits in the first place. For example the number of avatar favorites was a compromise between the creator side of vrchat, and the normal players side. Since avatar world Creators were very opposed to having avatar favorites, and adding them created a huge upsetness

One of the main focus of avatar worlds was that people always had to constantly return to the same worlds to use the avatars, and in turn it helped a lot with the world Creators traffic... Personally I would snag a Vive. As far as I'm aware the Index base stations & peripherals are compatible, so that will let you sorta "piecemeal" upgrade into an Index over time to ease the cost burden.

Probably any headset that supports SteamVR tracking will work, if you can find one on the lower end price-wise, and because of the SteamVR compatibility will let you sort of slowly upgrade into an Index over time instead of having to get it all at once.

i mean, the way people usually avatar crash is by using particles since that is the easiest way, particle limiter fixes this, if someone uses a client tho, tough luck even with animations and shaders blocked they can still yeet you out

The only method I know of personally to check an exact %, is using the OVR-Toolkit overlay.

Legit question, why would someone participate in the virtual market. They 100% will get their assets ripped and made public by bad people with clients. As an avatar creator, I really don't think the game is safe enough to have that kind of event. Are we even going to be protected from them?

Like, I'll just be off doing my thing and all of a sudden I'm launched into the sky and my character model starts spazzing out across the screen. I have to ALT + F4 when it happens because the menu doesn't follow the player for some reason.

A few times a night my audio will just toally cutout and I have to restart the oculus service, sometimes reseating the display port and USB.

File size can be challenging in worlds. My own safari world is currently around 360mb. It's a constant battle trying to find ways to keep it smaller without sacrificing stuff.

Yeah, it really depends on what you're trying to make. Worlds can be incredibly simple, easier than even basic avatars, or incredibly complex, if the scope is ambitious or something more involved.

Starting out, making a world for VR-Chat can be as simple as collecting a few 3D assets, and placing them in a unity scene. Check they have appropriate collision, and add the world_descriptor where you want the spawn to be. Boom. Functional world.
