Hey, short question: I tried to join the "VOLT Dacneclub" world ealier this day and could'nt get past the loading screen. Once the download was finished, it simply restarted. After this "second try" I ended up back in my home instance. Other worlds work just fine. I also tried to join a instance I had created. Does anyone know what might be the problem here?

so, uh, apparently if you launch a world with launch.bat with the Valve Index, it completely breaks all controls
Finger tracking doesn't work and the keybinds are wrong for everything else
Moving the joystick triggers the gesture activation, the trackpad is being seen as a joystick, the buttons are also being seen weird. Cannot grab anything, and the index trigger doesn't work

if you just want it to sound mufffled and dont care about whether it's going to be in a "circumstance" where it can sound muffled (like under a blanket or behind a wall) then you can always edit the audio manually lmao

I verified integrity of game files. Reinstalled. Restarted computer. Still not working.
Gonna try the Oculus version to see if that works. Just kinda sucks 'cause I like managing my games best with Steam. Oculus is install management is non-existent.

@slow cypress do you have any gamepads plugged in or devices that could be considered full body trackers? Those could interfere with steamvr. Have a picture of your steamvr status window? Also go to manage controller bindings in steamvr settings (in the desktop) and screenshot the bindings page

No controllers plugged in. Steam VR show both controllers. Beat Saber works just fine via Steam. I checked the SteamVR bindings page too (while in VR) and it works as intended. IDK what changed between a couple days ago and now.
There apparently was a SteamVR update. It mentioned a fix for WMR controllers but nothing else. I wonder if that's related

Thinking about it now the last time I launched VRC was probably the 18 ('cause that was the last time I updated my custom avatar) and I just didn't get the update til after then
I don't think the open beta is a thing anymore.
Oculus version of VRC works for me. It's probably got something to do with the SteamVR SDK then.

@desert gust not at all, those are a lot of fun. Custom shaders is a feature unique to VRChat and it's a truly unique experience to be able to play with mathematical contraptions made by other users in a social environment.
Technically speaking, the effects work by partially enabling shadows if the world doesn't already have them, and so in some worlds, there's a small overhead to enabling shadows but it's fine unless you're in a world with 30+ people in it.

If current Vive HMDs, which are essentially displays with tracking, are as expensive as they are, you think throwing a laptop inside all of that is going to make it cheaper? Need I remind you laptops are more expensive than desktops BECAUSE they are compact. The cost of such a headset is going to be the cost of the computer as well as the cost of the display. It will NOT be cheap. And if you try to cut corners with cheaper components the rig isn't going to be as good / stable / reliable.
For IT you have that triangle of fast, good, and cheap. You can have two, just not all three.
It's far more likely wireless technology is going to catch up before then, and we'll see HMD's still need a PC just not the cable.
I have seen backpack setups with a laptop for a close to wireless experience.

Does the VRC client configure microphone gain based on headset choice? Don't know if this is a VRChat bug or Virtual Desktop bug, but when I play the PC version over virtual desktop on quest people complain my microphone echos everyone else. Doesn't happen when playing the native quest app.

@rough wyvern If you're trying to use it in unity 2018 then yes. It randomly deletes the control panel with no way of getting it back. Most of us still use 2017 simply because 2018 is so broken and breaks most of our avatars and the sdk itself

that would explain why they couldn't see everyone first and last name because not everyone use that as their email; same with the person age. it would also makes sense as to why they were able to tell someone outdated passwords, if they haven't changed their passwords in months at least. very simple but clever.

It's like complaining to a team of builders that they shouldn't be putting in the plumbing when there's still no doors.

The only thing I'm really curious about is if they're going to revamp the avatar favorites menu. I'd really like to see some sort of organization or categorizing.

There's always a small chance the author might set it back to public (if it was them that took it down), but that's pretty rare.

Favoriting models has always been a discussion point. Some people r for it more slots and some people are against it.

Honestly yeah, it'd be possible. I really don't even think it'd be that big of a deal to store more favorites server-side; AFAIK, you'd only have to pull the information from the avatar ID's
