You shouldn’t need to change your real user height between avatars. It can fix problems but don’t make content that requires it. Always make sure your own content works right with your real user height set correctly to avoid needing others to offset their own

I dunno, I can try to get acclimated to smooth turning again but it just doesn't actually seem like an improvement

Even snap turning feels more "realistic" and organic than being put on a rotating disc that slowly turns in a way that is very incomparable to how an actual human turns to look at surroundings

I mean, when you look at things beside or behind you, do you slowly turn your entire body on a static plane without blinking or shifting whatsoever? I suppose you could do that if you want to creep people out

I'd say it's more like "snapping" your view to a particular focal point, semi-quickly moving your head to face it while motion blur fills in the space between that and your original point of focus

It's obviously not as instantaneous as in snap turning, and turning around entirely can be a mild hassle, but smooth turning feels so slow and unnatural, I genuinely do not like it

Perhaps I'm weird, but I actually find snap turning less comfortable than smooth. It's somewhat disorienting to just have the world instantly transition like that.

I've used smooth loco & turning since day one, but I also gave myself a one week rule of no VR-Chat when I first got my VR, getting used to other things.

I'd never played VRC on desktop mode before hand, so it was my first venture into the game. Was both for the reason that I knew I'd get hooked and never try my other games, and also a degree of nervousness.

That said though, I spent part of that first week playing Sairento with all locomotion options enabled. So had already been leaping, powersliding, wall running, and backflipping around VR.

So nothing in VR-Chat really had any chance of phasing me after that trial by fire.

Mhmm. I know it helps for most. Just a personal thing that it feels wrong to me.

It's one of the things I found, is that even though I did suffer minor motion sickness initially, my general mindset and reaction was never, "Oh, that was uncomfortable, never touching VR again"...
But instead much more, "Erk, I may have pushed myself too far, but that was awesome. Will take a breather and go again soon as I feel better..."

I think the thing that does cause me the most motion sickness, is bad frame rates, and trying to ignore them.

Like, in VRC it's usually not too bad, since I can just move my head less, and have a more audio based experience, provided it's just casual hangout stuff.
But in games like Gunheart where poor awareness or standing still for a second gets you killed, thus requiring constant motion, fighting through that does cause some strain.

I really think the whole "most trusted users are bad" is a prenotion. It's become a meme and if you go into the game with that in the back of your mind, every time you see a trusted user act mean or whatever, it stands out in your mind. I've met many many nice trusted users, and a few bad/annoying ones who do stand out. But I really don't think it's as bad as it is made out to be in the community.
