I'm not entirely familiar with what button on the Oculus Touch would open the quick menu, but its the same button you'd use to bring up the Avatar and Worlds menus.
Above the Worlds option, there's some empty space, invites'n such will appear up there.

There was a very basic API level messaging system in the past, but it was shut down entirely as it was an experimental feature not meant to be used yet, wouldn't expect it to be back any time soon.
The development will always be mainly focused on VR I would imagine, so desktop functionality like text chat has always been on the backburner, you could vote on the Canny to have such features implemented, but I don't think they'd be a priority.

Is anyone else experiencing super long delays for everything in VRChat recently? It takes like 1 minute just to get it to say "logging in" and loading friends profiles. Also when people invite me to their world it just stays stuck on "0/0mb 0% loading".
My internet speed is the same as it always is (2mb/s - Australia) and my computer is running on a GTX 1080Ti, I7 8700k
I tried clearing cache, reinstalling VRChat and restarting my computer. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening and want to fix it asap.

People not wanting to talk is more common than not having a mic, recommend just buying a mic in that case.

Well it might not be VRChat itself that is broken.
Could be a lot of things, such has GPU drivers, Windows updates, bad cache that needs to be cleared, people using crashing avatars, etc.

Concerning the removal of friends lowering rank-- if so, that'd be quite unfortunate. I had recently removed a lot of inactive friends or people I don't know well enough and never had that kind of problem.

If you'r'e looking for a rank up-- making maps I believe does help increase your rank though, at least from my experience. Of course you can't just make a map and expect to become trusted or get a higher rank, they actually have to be good.

You presumably need to play the game in a normal manner with your VRChat account, walking around, meeting people and also making some friends. Idling won't help.
According to many responses in this discord, a rough estimate would be 20-40 hours, but big exceptions are possible.
Make sure you are not using a steam account because those can not be verified and continue playing the game until you get a notification or e-mail.

That seems to be indicated in the 2017 upgrade patch notes:
You cannot change your microphone device from within VRChat. Workaround: Set your Default Recording and Communication Device in Windows before launching VRChat. If you wish to change your microphone while VRChat is still running, you have to disable the "old" microphone device that you're swapping from. This will be addressed in a future patch (this is a Unity bug)

GREAT, again the UNITY F@#%s up again. Guess VRChat really wanted to screw over avatar creators. I finally got everything working, Dynamic bone, shaders, animations, and props. But when I tested a few things and uploaded model I thought I can get back to fulfilling my commisions, but NOPE Reload Unity, no changes, nothing added. Dynamic bones is missing again, and I get a "Clear Cache and player prefabs" again. No errors, and reloading does nothing. not even resetting my PC.
I'm not the only one either, several of my friends are also having the same issue with uploading avatars with no way of fixing this. One guy even uninstalled Unity, and deleted SDK but still never fixed the problem

You said you had something working then you added a bunch of packages, shaders etc. my guess is one of them is causing your issue. I'm skeptical there were actualyno errors. It's possible they got cleared in play mode. But I would suggest making a new project with just the basics, import vrchat sdk, make a scene with a cube and avatar descriptor and upload that. Then try a simple humanoid model with no crazy shaders and animations and no dynamic bones. Then upload that

@umbral oracle it's known that importing outdated assets from not the unity store (aka not bought one) can cause problems

And if uou do things one by one you might be able to figure out which asset is at fault. I would turn off clear on play in console to increase the chance that the error shows up

I was able to upload the avatar with Everything I had, but when I returned to Unity I got the same error I've been having for a week

For me, a single shader broke, that's all. Your textures will still work though, unity might change it by import settings and such, but the image itself is never messed with

Reloading the world fixed the issue ezpz but after having been in a world for a good 12 hours or so my mic as well as the person with me’s mic just cut out all the sudden
