Well, yeah it's gonna happen when the framerate is low. That's what causes MS or reprojection to kick in, both come with their own kind of visual artifacts as they synthesize frames.

BlackWriter that's normal for motion smoothing. It's more violent wobbling than on Rift's solution. But the afterimages when in low fps without motion smoothing is a new thing, I see both things you're describing

with reprojection off there's nothing steamvr can do if you miss a frame (or two, or 10) and you'll feel it. It's nasty. Worse than the visual side effects of MS or reprojection.

Alright, lying down with the Kinect is a no go. That doesn't really work. You can sit down but for some reason lying down fucks up the skeleton tracking.

It can do it, but your legs are locked in T-Pose if it works ideally, and 80% of the time your legs/hips will instead rotate through your face into broken positions.

hey people, not sure if this is the best place to ask, but maybe someone here might know... i recently upgraded from a 1070 card to a 2080, and while i can notice a huge different with opening 3D stuff in chrome, in vrchat i'm still often getting 45 fps or less. maybe it's slightly better, but hard to judge. i did think though with my vive pro the difference would be huge.
maybe there's some drivers i need to replace that aren't yet?

Steam VR can turn off and customise Vive's chaperone boundaries without needing advanced settings. Just doesn't support Rift as much.

Before I ran SteamVR room setup, it used my Oculus boundaries
Now it uses the SteamVR ones that are always visible

There's absolutely a way to customise or turn those off, and by default they're only visible if you move near them. How it all works for other headsets I can't say though.
Personally I have mine set to show only the floor line without the walls, but be always visible. Had them set like that long before I installed the advanced settings menu.
I mean, in fairness it's not like the Oculus store offers or intends to offer any support to other HMDs.
You straight up have to use third party hacks to use it at all.

Well that'd work too, but lighthouse receivers are good too, and much longer range.
Actually... I guess that's one small downside/flaw of a belt. It'd need to be seen from at least two sides to calculate a good mid point. Which cuts down the potential place space to being within range of both lighthouses/sensors at once.
