Like I said, you can use vive stuff with others, but the rift software won't allow the touch to work unless the headset is plugged in

You might be able to get the rift controllers working with a vive, but as far as I know they connect via a vaguely proprieatary bluetooth connection to the HMD itself.
So you'd need the Rift plugged in just for the controllers, which defeats the purpose.

As Jamie's said the opposite is much easier, using Lighthouse-based devices with non-lighthouse HMDs, like vive trackers with a Rift or vive controllers with WMR.

From what I recall there's two parts of the SC dongles you can fiddle with, and only one of them is needed to get vive devices working with, which is also the one that can be easily reset (and reflashed again)

I may be wrong, it's been ages since I flashed a few spares for testing some stuff out.

Ah yes I was right, note what bendotcom says.
Modifying them for vive use changes the firmware but doesn't touch the bootloader.

Hi, guys. I lost my avatar after upgrading from steam to a full vrchat account. It's not really an issue, but I can't find the world I got my avatar from (I can't remember it's name). This is a lame request, but I'm hoping someone will know the name of this world, because I believe it was quite popular. It is an open grass field with collections of male and female avatars that would appear the further you walked. There are large mushrooms and up a slope there are small mushrooms and clouds you can pick up. Does this ring any bells to anyone?

Have just discovered yet another bone I used to have on an older version of my avatar, that this one now doesn't have. Both prepared using CATS, but evidently the newer version was a bit more trigger happy when it came to deleting bones.

Although it's probably similar? Since the WMR I think does it's processing for tracking internally, and Lighthouse tracking (Vive) is very low cost performance wise.
