That's why some people have watermarks on their avatars. I keep mine in my head for subtlety.

You presumably need to play the game in a normal manner with your VRChat account, walking around, meeting people and also making some friends. Idling won't help.
According to many responses in this discord, a rough estimate would be ** 20-40 hours**, but big exceptions are possible.
Make sure you are not using a steam account because those can not be verified and continue playing the game until you get a notification or e-mail.

I've been to that map. The pool maps available at the moment are surprisingly limited though. Either that or don't include pool in their name.
A friend and I went on a tour of pool maps. Most are either surprisingly tiny, have unconvincing water graphics, or awkward depths.
We found one where you were able to walk on the water, or could use the ladder to go under, except it was roughly 8 feet deep, making it all rather pointless unless your avatar was either Jesus or a fish.
The one linked above was small but decent enough, except that it pretty much only had two depth levels to it. Too deep, or knee level.

To upload your own avatar, you must keep playing until you get upload rights. There's no definite time, but being social, making friends and not getting kicked seems to accelerate the process a lot.

Nowhere near 99%, but it's definitely higher in public lobbies. In private lobbies, apart from the lack of multicore support and poorly optimized avatars, the percentage of bad stuff drops to nearly 0 %.

it's a pretty big known issue surrounding vrchat in the japanese community, the japanese wiki has guidelines on mmd model usage and whitelisted/blacklisted models/creators
