Yee that would def be the most optimal positioning. Knee trackers don't do much when standing, and only really come into play if you're sitting in a way that puts your foot close to your hip. Otherwise the normal knee IK is good enough in most scenarios.

VRCFury can convert to blend trees, and Thry has a VRAM tool. They are the easiest things to do for avatar optimization, I am not joking, and they will be the most impactful

I've been meaning to make a guide for both, just haven't gotten around to it

Also, to go back: The other problem is that unless people are adamant about blocking very poor, this won't really work. I simply cannot block very poor because most of my friends and people I meet are in very poor

If you're going from your current processor, you would need a new mobo and CPU anyways, so it only makes sense IMO to go for a 7800X3D. 5800X3D at this point kind of only makes sense if you're on a super tight budget or if you are upgrading on your existing AM4 platform.

Though it's really shitty that you even have to consider that given how awful VRChat is with performance.

Also I saw the 7800X3D on sale for $350, so it's already reaching down a bit (but I can imagine 64 GB of RAM to make sure VRChat runs good won't be cheap).

I can't universally block very poor. If I could restrict it to non-friends, then sure. But simply blocking VP isn't realistic if I want to actually enjoy VRChat.

Download size doesn't matter much. Some avatars with 200-300 MB of texture memory can be 60-80 MB, and some that are 40-50 MB download can have 300-500+ MB of texture memory.

There are tools to exist, but they are not super useful. They could have more granular settings to allow users to customize their experience. Namely texture memory limits separate from VP rank.

It is already in the game via avatar culling, but unfortunately it doesn't work great. Like I said before, avatar animators are a huge, if not the worst part of avatars, and animators are not culled by the avatar culling if you've already loaded an avatar.

So if you load everyone's avatar and then cull them, you'll likely get awful performance, versus if you were to reload into the instance and hide all other avatars.

I see, what gave me the idea was this minecraft mod called distant horizons, which lowers LOD as you get further away from terrain but still keeps it rendered, so the performance impact is negligible, though in vrchat there's a lot more than just that at play, because it all has to stay updated to the player, I'm not well versed enough to say anything in regards to this

It's legit. CloudFlare Warp is a bit of software that optimizes the nodes that your network traffic travels through. When you use the internet, your packets don't just go from A->B. Passthrough is nice, way better than Q2 imo, some have issues with the mic being quiet (like me) or charging (also me, at random it decides to drain while plugged in)

It drained till 20% yesterday, to charge up again till 29, just to drain again from there

The other time I had it drain was till 10% before I stopped playing

make sure you use a good cable and that it definitely does 9V 2A handshakes.

If the cable is possibly having bad contacts, it may fail the proper handshake

To get it to run, has been pretty much a out of the box "just works" experience. (You just need to make sure you intput your Oculus ID)

Recently I got a really nice and VR ready PC, today is my first day using it, I wanted to try out airlink for the first time as someone who's (for years) played on standalone and for the most part VRC was actually one of the only apps on steamvr that came to mind. I still have a lot to work to do and I'm having a hard time fixing/understanding the nooks and cranny's of moving to PCVR and would like some help with getting the best experience out of my PC. You can play Quest games no problem, just not while playing PCVR.

Virtual Desktop technically runs as a Quest game, so you can't do both at the same time.

If you get the Vive trackers and the base stations it might work on the Quest 3 since you can do that on the Quest 2.

I’ve been running games on Virtual Desktop for the past few days now on my Oculus Quest 2 and for the most part it’s been good but I’ve noticed how bad my latency is regardless in the change in settings even when post online say how easy the change is, I’ve looked into almost everything I can do on VD to maybe fix this issue but I still have latency between 55-80 when I know my PC can run better.

After hours of troubleshooting I really need help on this issue.

I’m running a:
NVIDIA GeForce RTZ 3060 Ti
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900k @ 3.50GHz
31.86 GB RAM

With a 5g router connected to my PC.

At this point it's looking like playing on standalone seems to be somehow smoother at times then my pc- ._.
