So it's fairly simple. The video players are using a plugin loaded locally on your PC called YTDL, or YOUTUBEDL.

It downloads the video and plays it. It uses your local Internet connection to do this. This year, YouTube in an attempt to counter AI scrapers has put a very aggressive cap on API requests to download videos from less trustworthy sources.

VRC has zero ability to fix this. You are simply locally put into an API blacklist for a few minutes.

There is a way to fix it. YTDL patches do exist for VRC which logs into your YouTube account so it has a higher API cap.

World's like Popcorn time work specifically because they are not served via YouTube but rather a direct video link which YTDL can download from.

#

PCVR users can download VRCVideoCacher for example to have it patch your YTDL.

#

It'll serve far more consistent video streams.

#

VRC is not the developer of YTDL so they haven't any input when it gets patched officially.

#

It's pointless to be upset at VRC. Be upset that YouTube has aggressive rate limited YTDL because they can't serve ads over it. Be mad at AI companies for using YTDL to flood YouTube with requests.
