Ugh, yes. Searches arent magic (well, AI searching sorta is, but this aint that), and can only work with what they get, and all I get for searching features is the name and description. If you want people to find your avatar, name it well, or include keywords in the description.

One thing that can help is the search does allow for negative searches. What I mean is if you search male, it will show results for female as well (since it contains "male"), so instead put male -female and it will show results for male without female. You can list multiple negative terms to further filter down. Undocumented features FTW lol...

I had considered that, but again, people don't read, so I had to adapt to that. The current search is meant to minimize impact for users doing "normal" searches (and many avatars have * characters near word edges for flair), hence just doing the wildcarding at word boundaries by default. For the astute who can and do read, other search modes do exist in the dropdown lol, including exact matching, starts/ends with, etc.

The only 'peak' VRC time i can claim to be proper peaceful was 3a4 months into avatar worlds being manually verified for performance.
We had a perfect mix of slowly gaining new people, heaps of bug fixes that allowed for whacky stuff, lots of crashing being removed (or tools being released to do so like particle limiter) and the game ran smooth as fuck as avatar worlds only had 'optimized' avatars

What I’m referring to are the probable optimization requirement updates on avatars in the future.

Just my opinion, but I think it’s meant to bridge the gap between PC VR, and a standalone in order to cater to them. Don’t get me wrong. I know that stand alone will eventually be able to handle such things and is the future. I just don’t wanna sacrifice high-quality and high Fidelity now.

And yes, of course there are plenty of ways to optimize and to have it damn near close but the majority of people don’t know how to do that .

Particles are tricky, its extremely hard to actually do them right without causing any major performance drop.
The lines on what can and cant be done is really vague from my understanding of it.

Also you can just merge the meshes and use animations if you just want to have good performance ranking.
Doesnt actually help in performance but the system isnt perfect with how complex performance measuring is and all
