You could have been terrible to someone as a teenager, grown up and apologized to that person for it, received forgiveness, and still have your past dug up and used against you. I've seen it in the US as well. People's tweets from when they were a kid being dug up and used against them when they've completely changed who they are

That's what the public wants. They want to find something and feel vindicated that they punished a "star" over it. It gives them a sense of power. That's what all of these people truly crave for, a sense of power in an otherwise powerless life.
