Are you sure you're on the account your purchased it on? I had this issue when my account got hacked. I had to swap account and i was unable to update any of my packs i bought on my old account. Basically stuck with whatever versions I installed for previous use on my computer.
I wish marketplace asset packs had to go under Content\Marketplace\ so they don't just litter the content folder ๐คฃ
i suggested this very early in the mp its lifetime, it was discussed but sadly declined. it had to do with a limitation of sorts, but its been yeeaaaars since I discussed this so dont know the exact details anymore.
Someone here (don't remember who, maybe Luos actually) suggested putting your own content in a single Content/ subfolder, like Content/MyAwesomeGame/, meaning you can easily find your stuff in the chaos that is the root of Content/. Not ideal, but pretty good solution if you ask me.

I've been moving, migrating and renaming folders from packs from the Marketplace for years now, and with 1 or 2 exceptions, everything worked fine.
But I have to say, I've never released a game, so it maybe causes issues when packing the game?

I imagine as long as you fix redirectors you should be fine...but if theres a lot of blueprints in it you might end up screwed.
I never store main project files in the root Content folder, and have all inside another folder in the name of the project
I guess I'm the outlier in this regard, and I'd be surprised if I really am.
Those that end up in root folder always be throwaway assets (usually just proof of concept) that I just too lazy to put it into another folder or my Developer folder.
At least it makes the content folder more manageable amongst the marketplace assets
I can't recall when do I first apply it, but I read/heard somewhere that putting project content inside another folder is a good practice, but I'd be surprised if it's not adopted and everyone else really just dump everything in the root folder.
Moving Blueprints is always hit or miss. I'm never sure what causes issues, but I've had quite a few Blueprints completely broken after moving. I ended up having a whole procedure about the order in which to move assets and fix redirectors (by type), that would minimize risks of corruption. But it didn't always work, and I spent hours if not days debugging issues that were caused by some random internal Blueprint reference disappearing when moved. After a while I got fed up, and decided to stop doing that, and I've never had to worry about corrupted BP ever since.
Also, BP (maybe even assets?) lose their custom thumbnails when moved, and I rely a lot on custom thumbnails for productivity in navigating collections.

I'm back with news on my current quest to answer "Why isn't the launcher notifying me about MP product updates?"
I think the launcher only notify for MP product updates on existing releases, and not for new releases. I've checked the MP API for all products that got updated in the past weeks and for which I didn't receive a notification, and in each case, creator added a new "release" of their product, instead of updating an existing release.
So since most creators added a new release to their product for UE5, most clients won't get notified of those updates. Yay ๐
Hello! I'm new to unreal. Came from Unity so I have some game dev experience but I'm just not sure on the ins and outs of Unreal. I'm looking at purchasing this pack but I'm unsure if there would be compatibility issues with UE5. I believe you. But afaik atleast some of the verification epic does is automated, and we know they use perforce internally. We know that the level of authors on the marketplace varies wildly. What's more likely, the authors by accident copied in a gitignore, or that epic slipped it in?

For what it's worth, the creator checked the submitted zip, and issue was indeed on their end.
It's not a huge/breaking issue, but it shouldn't be let through. It took me a minute to understand how on earth my .gitignore got changed.
not to blame the victim, but the ideal workflow would be a clean project to dump your marketplace assets and then you cut and paste the files to your project. you can also rename the folder properly, put in a subfolder and clean redirectors
I mean, that's also one click to revert with source control. But it's the same core issue. Glaring lack of sanity checks

Hi, does anyone know how to remove existing versions when submitting a file update? We used to have 420-421, 422-423 and 424+ versions but now we want a single 420-427 version which is seemingly not possible since i can't delete any existing versions and I can't have duplicate project file links.
Is the only option to upload duplicate project files?
I can't create a new 420-427 version because they are in use by the old versions.
Hi is there a way to install a plugin from the marketplace to a source engine build WITHOUT installing it to a downloaded (via epic launcher) engine then manually copy/pasting it to the source engine build?
theres a few downloaders on github, but none are official, or look particularly well maintained. I personally just always have the binary build of the engine i'm targetting available for exactly reasons like that

May be you can write a simple bash/shell script to copy MP plugins on the official release into your custom source version.
I'm not sure any other distribution method or download tool is legal or so.

Ue5 has a favorites system so you can favorite specific folders and easily find them
It's not a case of being easy to find, it's a case of maintaining structure. You end up with lot's of folders of different assets, having marketplace assets one easy place while not cluttering up your folder structure.
It would also keep parity with code plugins

Megascans is free for use within unreal engine. That's the Unreal Unlimited plan. Separately, you license unreal, which may fall under that revenue umbrella

It seems that the Nodegraph Assistant and Blueprint Assist are recommended often but I've been wondering if they complement each other or if they cover more or less the same functionality? Is there one you would prioritize buying?

Hi y'all. I am about to be putting up the first asset kit that I've made with the intention of selling on the Marketplace. I've never tried selling anything before and I would like some opinions on the price point for this. It makes a ridiculous number of of variants (8^14). 32 meshes. 1 master material, 60 material instances, 45 textures. Is $40 too much? I am trying to sell it for a reasonable price.

Yeah. The modular stuff sells for between $20 and $60. Some kits that aren't modular are selling for more than $100. Some of the low poly stuff is selling for $5-to $15. The range of prices is kind of crazy. I don't want to price it too high because nobody will buy it, but I also don't want to price it too low because then I would be missing out on what it could have made. Of course something is always better than nothing. So I am just looking for a reasonable amount. Not trying to get greedy.
I don't think you'd be missing out if priced low (of course not too low), because you'd see more sales, at least it worked for me pretty well (I adjusted and cut 5-10$ off my products)

About 90 hours including the modeling, UV mapping, and texturing. Another 10 or so getting everything in the engine, materials set up, and some screenshots.
I personally think it is worth about $50 but something inside me is screaming "that's too much".
This is a somewhat similar kit, but it is just blade and hilt not all the pieces. It makes 49 swords.

Are UAssetGuideline a new 5.0 thing? I've noticed it today in the CitySample subproducts, and I think it could be useful about the discussion we had the other day, related to creator overwritting config files from their products.
They covered that in one of their dives into ue5 streams... It's exactly that ...a way to make sure that a setting can't be changed by anyone

yo, heads-up: dont buy from https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/profile/MahmudjonShokirov all his content is stolen, that explosion pack is originally from Devero, but if you wanna do a proper search to find out where his sound-packs originated from, it would help me to make sure the fricker gets banhammered from the marketplace.
Unfortunately I'm suck at sonic detective, but digging into his classifications in both his site and Unity Asset Store profile, he seem to cater towards archvis and audio stuff. No mention of (realtime) VFX in both sites.

Question for people who have gone through the process of getting an asset listed, I submitted a project and it was rejected for using assets from another Marketplace pack. Which confuses me as other the only non-Epic assets I included are CC by 0.0 assets from other creators. Am I not permitted to use those as well?
It should be CC0, which is public domain.
CC-BY require attribution, which marketplace licence doesn't enforce.

If you already reach out to the local bank about it and no history of PayPal transfer on their book to the withdrawal date, you'd have to contact PayPal that your money didn't go through.

Are you on a vpn? Maybe that's interfering? Are you buying through the launcher of just a regular browser? Maybe try a browser if using launcher or vice versa
Funny thing is I contacted Support about this and their response was. "Oh don't pay attention to the country registered, it doesn't affect the marketplace neither as a buyer nor a seller.
I am on a non VPN network. Tried both from the browser and the launcher, tried it on my mobile, laptop, mac, all browsers. Mobile network, Same situation.

Maybe checkout what your IP is geolocating as. In private browsing mode google "what is my location" and it should guess from your IP, or look for an IP geolocation lookup service

I just bought an asset pack (fake interior) that uses Quixel's assets (buildings) in its demo map. Though they went to great length to hide that they're Quixel meshes, so I'm not sure if it's even known to the MP team.

Yes, and ulxqed2dw for the ground level. I've looked up close, and even though the mesh has been edited and material recreated, there are some similarities that leave little doubt.

Ok, so here's an update on the my marketplace checkout situation.
For some reason my registered Viennese address which is in Austria had a registered country other than Austria, which would cause anything to fail validation during checkout.
Having fixed that though, validation failed across all checkout options. PayPal (Credit Card), PayPal (Bank Transfer) (PayPal (Balance), Credit Card. Despite all being registered at the same address as my Epic Games account.
The only thing that worked is via a 3rd party mediator, which facilitated the payment via my bank account.
Apparently Epic Games or the bank they work with changed something to their verification process that is so strict that a single tiny mismatch will cause your transactions to fail.
As I was writing this Marketplace Support emailed me. Here is what they had to say.

Well great. All my financial accounts have a multitude of anti scam/theft protection in place that I don't need Epic Game's neither to protect me nor make my life difficult. If Epic Game want's to protect us they can start by protecting our hard work which is being pirated all over the internet.
What is your take on this? Should people that move around a lot be worried?
Many EU financial institution have rules like screenshot your ID + present a bill on your name & address. Plus your regular card/email/etc checks.
Sometimes even language on which these documents are issued can be a barrier.
Not to mention, someone reformatted the address or something.
Hence my point. The financial institutions I work with have all those measures in place and then some. Epic coming up with their own and screwing everything up is plain ignorant to put it politely.
I already have to go through 3FA to to do a simple purchase. I don't need Epic to safe guard me.

yea, people who want to use quixel-stuff need to have a license. while us UE users have a license, since people can choose to use your pack in unity, unity users would have to pay for a license. hence you cannot add it to your pack.

Not really, because it's an older beta version that is prone to crashing and overall unstable. Unity and standalone C plugin is updated to v4.0, way ahead of Unreal plugin's v2.0-beta, because nobody worked on it.

The thing with cel shading is that indirect lighting is often disregarded. Lumen GI is indirect lighting, so in practice often times it doesn't matter.
That's fair, I suppose. I'm just looking for a cel-shader that's the least cumbersome to use while also having the most features - the cel-shaders for Unreal that I've tested so far have been something of a mixed bag.
Cel Shading probably won't just be a post process material you slap on and forget. Tearing one apart and tweaking it for your purpose will be the way to go. Additionally, you'll see best results with art made for the style, lighting designed for the style, etc etc.
But i agree with Makoto, cel shading clamps color ranges and loses a lot of subtle shading, which is where a lot of the benefit of GI comes in. It's the subtle details that makes GI really impactful

I mean, if you really want to leverage Lumen, you can have the environment meshes still in Nanite and uses PBR + Lumen, and selectively apply cel shading to just characters (and in extent objects held by the character).
And environment art is another whole debate.

There's a minimum cost I believe, also pricing can be odd. Pricing too cheap makes it look worse than similar products. So you might miss out on a portion of sales just from being cheap.

Yeah, without just using a buzzword, it is ai powered, and if I compare to blender plugins that run from 50-100, it saves the back and forth transfering you scene, which in hourly costs of an artist really adds up quick. Maya and max animation tools tend to be on the more expensive side. Seen some for 500ish

This is my initial review based on the first couple of weeks of use. I may update this review later after some more experience. My two main impressions are:
- This. Plugin. Is. Incredible.
- Why on earth does UE not ship with this kind of setup out of the box?!
I have been re-writing my games existing character setup using the General Movement Component system. At first it's a bit confusing and a few things take some time to figure out. But once you get into it you start realizing how insanely POWERFUL it is. There are a LOT of inbuilt functions to help you out.
My previous UE Character setup was turning into a mess of too many events and functions. I understand UE replication but was still having a lot of trouble. GRIMTEC's video tutorials explained why.
The GMC setup is MUCH leaner, the replication is spot on, and I've even added some cool new functionality that I just stumbled upon messing around!
If you are making a multiplayer game you REALLY should have this plugin. I know, it's a little on the pricey side. But GRIMTEC has solved so many problems for you (some you didn't even know you had). It is absolutely worth the money.
Don't go down the rabbit hole (as I did) of adding lots of movement related functionality to the default UE character. The ONLY thing you can do (in BP) is set and forget variables in the built in movement component. You can't even reliably change those variables in the event graph. Your only option is overriding the movement component in C++. Go watch all the videos on GRIMTEC's channel as he explains why.
If you are doing singleplayer then you can just use the default UE Character. Editing movement in the event graph is just fine in that case. My comments are above are related to multiplayer. Multiplayer replication introduces a lot of problems that singleplayer does not have.
That said, there would still be value in this plugin for singleplayer. For example, being able to swap out collision shapes at runtime. I am now able to do proper prone and swimming with a horizontal collision capsule. The GMC setup is a bit different from the default character, so you have to learn how to work with it. But it gives you a lot of control you don't have with the default character.
And if you have any inclination to add multiplayer later, well.. you need to be adding multiplayer right from the start or you'll have to refactor everything later. So it could be good to build on a General Movement Component foundation.
so does this combine with a locomotion system like ALS, Kai or moveit? Or do you use this "instead" of those?
You would probably use the GMC instead of those other systems. I believe the ALS is just based on the default UE Character class. Kind of a pain in the ass there are all these competing systems that can't easily be combined. The GMC is a complete rewrite of the character movement system so you kinda have to go all in on it from the ground up. It doesn't actually do any of the things that ALS does - it doesn't include an animation graph or animations.. it just deals with properly replicating the character capsule movement (and changing the capsule shape at runtime ie. horizontal prone capsule)
I'm not to clear on how difficult it would be to port over ALS animation graph and animations to a GMC base character. I'd imagine it would be quite a bit of work. I'm building my character up slowly from the ground up so as to understand and have control over the entire process.

Turbosquid doesn't have bad UX, you just need to watch out for bad uploads. Turbosquid staff is one of the only ones that will actually hold the product accountable for what it's advertised as, and is a great platform imo

They received a megagrant to help with the creation of assets used in USA military simulations. While no one can speak to the specifics of any agreement, it appears that at least some of them get released to the marketplace for free.

plugins need to be purchased per seat, so in this case, you both would need to purchase it.
Watch how that first paid asset sells much more then usual though. Popularity typically comes before the cash. Luck and skill can serve em up simultaneously. Personally I think its clever and rewards users with great assets.

hey all. I'm trying to gauge interest in a series of plugins. They're 100% c++ for best performance, but completely useable through blueprints. All of these are as modular as possible, you install the plugin and add the relevant component to actors you want it applied to, no nonsense and can get it working within a few minutes.
One would be an attribute, leveling, and damage system, another would be an inventory + equipment system with a sample drag and drop widget and the last would be an interaction system
They'd likely be in the 20-30~ dollar range each, which I believe is pretty fair as the closest thing to compare them to is much more expensive and (to my knowledge) far more work to get working with an already running project. Is this something anyone feels like they'd want to use or see a market for?
combining the three would allow for things like interacting with an object and it applying a stat buff to the player, using an item and it granting health like a potion, or equipping items and it giving you increased stats, etc.

also, disabling create material/import texture on import solves that "add 500 color materials"
meshbake can merge the obj's, and collapse material slots, but its a manual progress that can take a lot of time depending on what you are going for, and unless you modify the code/unreal's importer code, automatically running it is not supported. (afaik)

Not sure if this is the issue or not but the unavilable label can happen if you have an editor currently running. If so then save and close it first then try again

hey all, I'm looking for some advice on a price point and possible critique of a plugin I've made.
Screenshots sum it up pretty well, but it's a complete attribute, damage, floating combat text, and floating health bar system all in one... as easy as adding a component to your actors and setting up your stats.

HELP PLEASE ! Every day I keep getting pushed the same updates over and over to my epic launcher. These are not new updates just the same ones over and over.
This has been going on for a week already and each time an asset gets an actual update it adds the the daily list of repeat updating with nothing new. My launcher is slowly turning into one giant orange update ball (exaggerated joke) ๐ฅบ

Does anyone know of any help article or something regarding how tax should be handled when it comes to the UE Marketplace? It's all so confusing.
They use PayPal's Hyperwallet, but I can't tell if that counts as a EU or US business, whether or not they've already deducted taxes, etc. I just have no clue what the correct procedure here should be.

I've looked all over the government websites for it here in Sweden, but everything seems so antiquated that there's barely anything related to selling digital products on an online marketplace.
The good news is once you've done it once, you get a slight feel for it so you can generally get it right on other account setups in future without having to get the advice again

Yeah I am thinking the โeasiestโ way is to have users save their json from the api and upload it via a form on Orbital. You could just store the product ids tied to a userid. Maybe there is a better or easier way. I have like 300 items and 4 devs on my team. Would be great if they could search/sort what Iโve purchased.

Well regarding my purchase woes. After a month there is no update. I'm effectively blocked from purchasing anything from Epic's ecosystem. Marketplace support hasn't responded and, I can't stress it enough, that it's almost one month.
are you sure you sent to the correct e-mail address? Did you receive a ticket number for your support request? I find it hard to believe there is 1 month delay in responses from Marketplace team so most likely you sent it to the wrong email or the request got lost. So either send them again an email at uemarketplacesupport@epicgames.com, or if you received already a ticket number for the initial request, do a follow up and ask for an update.

Thanks for all the info. I tried replying to the original ticket/email, which they used to reply to. The other day I had an issue with one of my asset packs I was updating, we exchanged a couple of emails, they asked if they can help with anything else, I mentioned the purchase issue and they vanished. Have sent two emails since then. Still nothing. They supposedly have escalated it to an upper level since May 5th. No sign since then regarding this. I'm just watching the sales go by and I'm unable to purchase anything should a need arise for a commission or work. Just awesome.
I remember your original posts. I wanted to add last time you talked about it. It was never about them protecting you and your bank from unauthorized purchases. It was always about epic protecting themselves from fraudulent purchases.
I wonder if they've just flagged your acct for suspicious activity, and are taking a while to resolve everything due to possible fraudulent activities

I'm trying to figure out why it won't let me install a plugin from the marketplace. I built UE 4.27.2 from source but the launcher isn't finding the engine so it seems like it won't actually let me download the plugin (the plugin says its compatible with 4.24 - 4.27, 5.0). Not sure if its relevant I don't have any prebuilt UE engines installed
you can't install plugins unless you have UE installed from the launcher
you can download UE and manually delete the folder to save space, and the launcher will still download/install the plugins
u need to download unreal from the launcher, then install the plugin, then move the plugin from YourLauncherInstalledUnrealPath\Engine\Plugins\Marketplace\ to your project or custom engine

Anybody here ever got their marketplace submission declined with a "Product is not ready for review"?
We send a blueprint asset pack wit demo and docs, zip file, password in version notes, tested to work in 4.21, 4.27, and UE 5, yet it got declined without any specific explanation why.
Anybody else run through this trouble before? We're kinda clueless on what to fix here.

Isn't that's why the version notes entry is placed on the web form for?
I actually found the 1.4.1.c password part because I did a ctrl-F on the marketplace guidelines, since I got no idea what the version notes is supposed to be filled with.
That, and the part where the web form keep insisting people to read the submission guide anyway (that constant reminder box above), as well as the weird inability to save the submission draft unless all forms are filled.

Is it possible to buy a model on marketplace and then get it as a standard obj/fbx to use outside? I'm asking as I look for a way to release one for limited use only, if I don't want it to be used elsewhere
Marketplace license is pretty liberal for most assets. Customers are allowed to use purchased assets in other engines unless itโs certain epic content
And yeah, you just right click the asset and click export
If you wish to put such restrictions in place you will probably have to look at a different marketplace

Having never been through a major release transition before, do you think most marketplace sellers will continue to support 4.27 for some sustained period of time? I know most may support only 2-3 last major versions, wasn't sure if that means ue4 would get dumped all together once 5.1/5.2 release or if support for 4.27 is likely to stick around a while like an LTS
It really depends on products. For characters or vehicles, creators will most likely drop UE4 (some already have) since UE5 has some incompatible changes. For environments, creators might be tempted to use Lumen/Nanite for example, and supporting UE4 wouldn't be a wise investment.
Dirt and music pack will probably still be compatible all the way back to UE2 though ๐
Yeah definitely depends on the tech used in the pack as UE5 has some big changes (nanite, lumen, chaos, etc). Iโm most interested in the skeletons for characters (and clothing) as we have the new UE5 skeleton/metahumans while most still use the UE4 skeleton.

Update regarding the purchase/checkout issue.
According to the Unreal Marketplace Support team the country on my account was set to my location when it was sent over to their ecommerce team for review. Which was in conflict to the registered info by me, thus preventing me to purchase anything on the Epic Games site. They have properly set it up this time to reflect my registered info.
Their ecommerce team informed the support team that this check is for tax compliance purposes, not fraud prevention. Because of this, it cannot be disabled on accounts. The VAT country and the account country must match, and that I should not be prevented from completing purchases moving forward regardless of my geographic location.
Let's hope this keeps functioning.
When it happens to me, I report it to the creator, which either fix it or forward the issue to Epic.

The screenshot shows Unavailable or Write a Review... Write a Review will only show up if you already have it in your library, otherwise it would say Add to Cart... in your library you will have the option to Install to Engine

I googled "Seller Profile Discontinued" and cant find anything about it. I created a seller account long ago (3 years) and never made anything. Now, I want to try and make some things but I cant even move on with the process since I am getting this message on the portal.
