they make a badass game engine, best in the world, but they can't build a desktop ui to save their life

I don’t know how I feel about the user initiated refunds unless they keep the same policy where once you download it you can’t refund it. I don’t want it to turn into a asset demoing system like steam has

The way steam does it is only a win for consumers, it’s a detriment to developers. Don’t buy my game if your intent is to refund it after you play it.
i'm unconvinced. people like steam so much many gamers dismiss titles that come out on other stores
The data I have doesn’t suggest that when it’s between epic and steam, epic also said their data shows the general public doesn’t care what store they get games from as long as the price is good
Epic has less users for me but makes up more revenue share because their users don’t abuse refunds. I think on epic my games have a 3-5% refund rate and 20% less sales than steam but steam had a ridiculous refund rate so the extra 20% sales or so you get don’t matter + they took more cut so that deepens the divide even more
I’ll always defend epic unless they royally screw up, they have been very good to me. My only gripe with them is they tend to prioritize AAA games too much, I guess that’s because third party sales were down in 2023 so they tried to make up for it in 2024 by pushing big games. Once they add the discovery options they talked about like their fyp feature I think it will be better for smaller studios there
Fab updated the sales reports page today, it now shows vat tax and had a slightly clearer layout with more information compacted together
They also autofill the month dates in and auto submit the report when the page loads which is nice

Day four of waiting for someone at Fab to push my store page tag update without doing a full review of the new version of the asset I didn't submit....
It's so satisfying they finally auto fill the sales report. Picking the dates manually is so painful with that UI/UX design especially in mobile.
That's so disheartening. The lack of written reviews and questions only emboldens scammers and repels honest creators.
What's dissapointing is they tried reporting 3 times and each time, epic restored the scammers page/product...

Pro tip. Add an spacebar to your description and remove it again if you only change the thumbnail for example. When I do that it works

Yeah and it's really hard to find things you're looking for since you need to type things perfectly. For example just putting a space in the wrong place, like "Easy Rain" instead of "EasyRain" makes it so products don't show up at all
This WAS the case with the UEM as well, but the workaround was easy, I could add a custom tag in the product page and that solved it.
I know better SEO is on the way so just gotta sit tight for the time being but yeah, it's an adjustment. I'm really glad to see Black Friday is doing well though.

turns out that after a couple of sending back for fixing from FAB support (each time they added a new pdf with a new field for the problems which is doubtedly professional, instead of listing all the issues they kept adding more issues to fix after I corrected the previous ones) the submit for review stopped working, so I've duplicated the listing and send for review and now it works. My experience so far is bad. When you send an email to support there is no ticket created and an acknowledgement they have received your email

ok so info for you guys, it may be that after 3-4 corrections (2 from link not working, they told me to use filesharing.com for file hosting then the website did not work at all) the submit for review stops working, so dont panic make a new listing (duplicate), lost 5 hours of my life

welp this is a weird one, figured I would ask first and I also dont see anything in search. Two machines side by side, same network. Windows machine can download the electric dreams sample project no issues from the launcher. Macos Machine cannot, i get a could not find any manifest download" error in the log. The manifest its looking for on both machines is the same according to the log. This isnt just that one sample, 90% of the ones I tried (create and add to project) all fail the same way. any ideas?

Is UDS the best weather system? I've seen more expensive ones but I'm struggling to see what makes the ones that cost more better?
I dont think it has deformation but its pretty polished for what it is

Yeah it does seem to be really good and it's on a 50% discount which is making me really tempted to get it.
I've used UDS on a project and was pretty satisfied with it, also seems to have good support.

IMO sky creator has the best clouds right now. UDS i find kind of annoying when you only want a couple of its features at a time because the list of properties is massive, while Sky Creator lets you easily enable/disable each feature individually and then hides the appropriate settings

sky creator has realistic cloud types, multiple cloud layers. UDS clouds are pretty but all look kind of samey to me
that said UDS still does look great, and at what, $20 right now? absurd value for dollar
$20 to make a third of your screen look good without too much trouble

each of them is using the normal Unreal atmosphere components: directional light, sky light, sky atmosphere, volumetric clouds, exponential height fog, volumetric fog materials, etc
so there's no reason you can't mix and match the parts. like i said this is a bit easier in sky creator than UDS but it's achievable either way
the main value adds from the systems are:
- great cloud materials (both much nicer than the built-in UE clouds, including the 5.5 clouds)
- automating the atmosphere components to work well together
- good default exposure (which people tend to struggle with at first)
- weather systems, with particles, sound, and material integration
Have you tried any other of the Weather plugins you can get?
... was deciding between two assets and again bought the "wrong" one .. product page says compatible with 5.4, when I open the project there's a ton of deprecated errors.. oh well
wish there was some kind of 'vetted by staff' program more premium creators could try and submit their assets to get a badge of approval, similar to how some other content marketplaces do it

fab products -- at least the unreal-specific ones -- get vetted, but new version compatibility isn't part of that process (yet)

Report that to epic(and the seller) if a product does not work as advertised you can get a refund
Yeah that works, tried it out myself. You can disable all the components in sky creator. But in UDS its not that easy.
I did not find a clear way to do that on fab, report button seems to be about legal issues only, author profile has non working webpage and yt and fb - not keen on using either
The new Sky Creator 2.0 update will bring even better clouds then there already are.
I think in UDS you can only really disable the volumetric clouds. But everything else you cant, or at least i havent figured it out yet.

Yeah thats true. I think the main advantages of UDS are that it has a bit more features, is more fleshed out (which makes sense because it got released multiple years before sky creator) and of course a lot more affordable. But sky creator also works really well and it gets better with every update. Especially, as i already said, the (upcoming) clouds, which are by far better than UDS. This was also the main reason why I bought sky creator and i think you cant really go wrong with either of them. And if you feel like it, you can combine the two systems and get the best of both worlds. But you probably have to trick here and there to make it work properly.

Well I'm making a game that will have a range of different environments so having good looking clouds will matter to some extent
Well then i would either look for a separate asset pack which includes a variety of volumetric clouds/skyboxes or i would go for sky creator (if you have that much money). Especially considering the next update will bring extremely customizable and complex clouds. But sky creator currently doesnt have features like snow deformation. There is a roadmap which you can look at.
But thats just my amateur opinion.

Because the fab plugin is a window in the unreal editor, they would have to open unreal then run a script on startup to open fab then run another script to link to the product within the plugin

Did anybody else get paid out a lot less on Fab than what the sales report showed for November. I am looking at almost exactly 30% less than what my sales report for the month shown. Even if that amount disparity was refunds that is extremely high and not shown in the sales report. Never had more than one product refund per month

The payout you received now is for the month of October. You get pay on the end of the Nth month for your revenue of the month N-1.
Well you are lucky. They still have not paid me out. At 11:30am EST this morning they decided to close my account, and have not paid me the outstanding amount that should have come today.
Payments for November don’t go out until December 30th, you are seeing marketplace sales on that payout from today

Hello guys. I have an active listing on Fab and now I've added all the other UE version and I want to send it for review. But nothing is happening after I submit for review (It should turn in in to "In review" as I know?).

As of this morning, I have still received 0% of the payments from October due to yet another arbitrary closure of my account. It is now abundantly clear that they have chosen to intentionally withhold my payment for an additional 30 days without any justification.
From what I can see in Discord and other forums, others have already received their payouts yesterday, as expected. I was well over the threshold for payout, and my payment reports confirm the amount listed as pending. Yet, mere hours before the payout, my account was closed—timed in such a way as to cause the maximum disruption to me. The "deadline" they cite was 30 days ago so if I was in breach why was the account not shut down on the deadline?
This is not an isolated incident. This same pattern of mistreatment has happened before, and the odds of multiple “bugs” occurring repeatedly across different systems and over several years are astronomically low. Either their system is entirely broken, and they keep designing in the same bugs to all their new backends, or this is a deliberate and targeted effort against me.
To further support my concerns, I have not seen similar issues reported by any other users. If this were a widespread problem, I would expect to see more evidence of others encountering the same kinds of disruptions. The lack of such reports only adds to my belief that I am being unfairly singled out.
I have already submitted support tickets regarding this matter, yet I have not currently received any response. Based on past experience, I fully expect that I won’t hear anything until the middle of next week—only to receive a generic, canned reply that fails to address the real issue. This situation is beyond unacceptable.

I have to ask, did you submit all the trader verification documents/forms? We all had until like october or so to do it. It doesn't seem like mistreatment or an arbitrary closure, they clearly state why they closed down your account.

To provide some additional context regarding the ongoing challenges with my account. This is not the first time I’ve faced these types of issues with the platform.
Back in 2021, during the forced transition from PayPal to Hyperwallet, I attempted multiple times to submit the required verification documents, only to be rejected each time. Eventually, on June 16, 2021, I gave up, as all of my assets were free, and it simply wasn’t worth the fight. My account was subsequently closed, and I moved on.
However, 11 months later, out of the blue, I received an email stating that my profile needed to be verified. This came as a complete surprise, as my account had been closed for nearly a year. I decided to resubmit my documents, only to be rejected yet again. Frustrated, I reached out to support, asking why they would contact me after all that time just to reject me again. Without any explanation, they approved the account.
At the time, I had no intention of reopening my seller account, so I ignored it. I only submitted the documents out of curiosity, it had been 11 months since I abandoned the process and was contacted out of the blue. This was very strange to me and I needed to know the "why" behind it. It wasn’t until January of this year that I reached out to support to reactivate the account after I was asked to take over a project that was live on the marketplace. Everything was fine until the platform announced another forced transition—this time to FAB.
Knowing what I’d been through before, I anticipated issues, so I submitted my documents on October 1st to allow for any potential problems to be addressed before the deadline. To my surprise, my documents were verified without issue, and I even received confirmation. However, nearly two months later, my account was abruptly closed, with the platform claiming they never received the documents I had submitted and they had already approved.
This repeated pattern of poor communication and arbitrary decisions has left me deeply frustrated.
Weird, your stuff is still listed as available on FAB. The email you got from your confirmation of trader verification also does not match Epic's email address
If I look at my own confirmation email, the email address is different. help@email.epicgames.com looks suuuper fishy, not gonna lie.

I reached out to support and fully expected next week to get a canned reply. There were a bit faster and have sent me a canned reply this morning around 08:40EST. So the canned replies at least are a bit faster then they were last time.
The suspension email was in my junk which was strange, since the invite for the previous sale was in my inbox. I was only alerted when I had not received the payment I was expecting. I logged in to verify the amount to check the current exchange. Our dollar tanked after the election there so the few sales the project had would have been a bit more impactful. I noticed in my unreal sellers portal it had a red banner saying it had been suspended. I actually at first did not even think much of it. I assumed everyone had gotten it as part of the move to fab. I went to check thinking surly people would talk about this banner, but could not find anything so I started to dig deeper. I found the suspension in my junk mail folder. While I do have access to select parts of the FAB publisher portal, others are blocked off with the suspension notice, so it was not easily apparent looking only on FAB.
While it thankfully will not make or break our family holiday season, it would have eased the finical stress of the season. I am currently on parental leave from my work after the birth of our 7th just over 1 month ago so this comes at a very bad time.
assuming this is your page, everything is still up. I wouldn't be too worried about outstanding payments, you'll get them once support figures out what is going on, assuming everything you've done is above board
It is. from a legal stand point we are a registered private corporation. I keep all my documents in order.
This I am not to worried about currently. If they choose not to reinstate my sellers account I already have a website for the project that sells addons. The previous project leadership had problems with Unreal accepting the addon style with assets. Though it was possible to release a few they met ongoing resistance to further addons to the main asset. To keep clear of conflicts anything listed on the marketplace is currently only available there.
This is also not my primary source of income, and the asset is out of date as I have not had the time to update a large asset myself while also working my full time job.
My frustration comes from the overall situation, not a single point.
I plan to create and list a free 3D gun model as an example of what customers can expect from my future paid listings. Has this helped generate traffic for anyone here? I think that it's a great idea.

I'd go through the TOS and double check you are even allowed to verify your account. You might need a legal entity in another country to continue using Fab entirely.
Yeah Canada should be fine. Maybe something else about their legal entity is upsetting Fab/Epic.
It's never been an issue, and I am sure other Canadians would have said something. I am certainly not the only developer in the country, despite what some might thinkk of our size, it's a pretty big place lol

Sometimes names can trigger these things. A friend of mine had a spanish business name that bank of america hated. They'd shut him down every 3-4 months.
I was moving from a verified business account PayPal payments to t, to Hyperwallet which is a PayPal owned service so at the time it made no sense at all to me. I could not put my finger on it but something felt off. I had only free assets at that time and it seemed crazy to fight to give stuff away for free.
Then the out of the blue email 11 months later really threw me for a loop and peaked my curiosity about what was really going on. I was providing them every document requested and in the final email before approving the account they asked for something more recent, I had been sending the most recent versions of documents we had all along.
After they rejected it I really was puzzled and sent this email back to them after asking what EXACTLY they wanted from me so I could send it to them.
I would not have returned to the marketplace if not for the unusual circumstances that lead to me taking over the AFC project.
As stated in that email back on 2022-07-14 I said that as soon as I return this would just happen again. They would force a move and say my documentation was not correct and it was all free so what is the point of it all.
Here we are in 2024 11 months after reactivating my account.

I want to be working on my VR controlled robotics platform for a few days before I start into AFC updates, but this is all I can think of. I have only been back a position i can move the project forward for about 1 month since coming onto parental leave and it's been an adjustment period as we have 7 littles now not 6.. some not so little anymore but always my kids. Yep, one time my UK visa was delayed for months because of my name. I didn't know why it was delayed because I had no direct contact to the home office but I was told by "someone" that it's because of my name and he resolved the situation. the whole situation was way too ridiculous, I got it right before it expired too

I would wonder why. Our legal company name is SSZ Canada Inc and the first part searches to some drug for I think arthritis, and a blimp from back in time, then my company. It has no meaning at all except I had a LLL (3 letter domain) that was using those letters. It made it only 5 keys or 6 characters to type the address in. Even the full name is just an expansion of the address lol.

Thanks. This is not a huge issue. I doubt that I will lose many if any sales as they have been very slow. I also made a community announcement to let people know about the issues. I just want to get to the bottom of this. There are far to many coincidences for my mind to let it go. There is really no singialr part of this problem I will not recover from fairly quickly.

Here are the facts. During the last forced move there was an issue with our documents. 11 months after I had given up attempting to jump through their hoops they messaged me out of the blue. I did not contact them in any way during those 11 months. I said this exact thing would happen if I reopened my account. Circumstances changed and I decided maybe it was all just random so I reopen my account. 11 months later after another forced move to a new system my account was closed again.
Again I like to believe that is all unrelated however my brain can not let it go. The same exact issue years apart using 2 different systems. A situation I said would happen if I did reopen the account. Either I have become psychic predicting events 2 years in advance, there is more at work here, or maybe that many things so similar really are all just a very improbable coincidence.

I don’t know it you also use blueprints but if you have my plugin you will start using my nodes without even knowing they are from this pack because they come in handy but are still not included in the native unreal nodes library. When using C++ my documentation comes in handy as I currently update it to also show the cpp names. 🙂

But based on your responses you wrote to the hyperwallet people earlier in the thread today, and what you’re writing here above to FAB support, you come across extremely passive aggressive without providing them relevant info they are asking. There’s no need to mention being a father of 7, it’s irrelevant to the situation, and just adds more text to an already complex issue. Earlier you just told them to check the government website, which wasnt what they asked for. I would send them screenshots of what your login page looks like, which email you use to log in, and work your way from there. I dont think anyone here understands what the problem you are facing is as none of us have experienced this before.

I copied across all the same relevant information that I posted here. I also provided them the screenshots I have posted here. I get where you are coming from but I have provided them as much information as I could at every single step.
A moment ago I got an email saying "We can't tell you why it failed, resubmit. However I can not resubmit because they have locked me out of that area of my account. WHICH I SHOWED IN THE LAST SCREENSHOTS I SENT AND SAID WITH WORDS THE SAME. The passive aggressive tone is the AI changing the actual aggression out of the words I am sure. I am very mad. Had this been a one time issue, or had they not have said it was approved, or really any number of other things this would not be an issue.
To say it was approved, then 2 months later suddenly say it was not approved. Which is it. Did they lie before, did they lie now, If there was an issue with it why was I allowed to operate for a month past the deadline essentially breaking the law?? Why was it announced to me a few hours before the payout was supposed to be sent. Why was this payment held until the next cycle?

The fact I said this exact thing 2 years ago would happen, and it suddenly happened. So I am sorry for being mad at a company that made 5.8 Billion last year not being able to design a system that works.

No offense taken, just saying that passive aggressive emails to customer service isn’t likely going to help your case at all. Best to explain in a clear and concise way and keep things to the point. As someone who’s been on the support side of tech support, keeping short and sweet with bulletpoints is the way to go. Step by step explanation of your issue.
You are right and I had switched to using bullet points when I replied to this response. That lead to a quicker response and to them saying they could not tell me why it was rejected, but that it had been. So they now acknowledge there is an issue finally. Again strange since the email before that said "they could not see any problems on their end" Now to just solve how I can upload it when they upload page says I am suspended, and maybe find out why they said it was approved and did nothing about it until a month after the deadline.
Again though I will stand on the point that this is not an issue for other Canadian companies or there would be numerous posts all around talking about the issue. If there was a problem in the verification process it should effect more then just me. None of this makes any sort of sense from a systems standpoint. And yes you are also right that the past issues, from the agents standpoint, are irrelevant. they do however show an ongoing issue in the systems used for verification. One that has a very clear pattern. The agent should be passing along the information to the relevenat teams who can use that informaiton to ensure the problems don't persist for multiple years.
I oftentimes receive emails that my product was declined, then 5 minutes later I get another saying changes needed and then another 5 minutes later it said approved.. so something is really wrong with their system

In another response if I read between the lines I know what the issue is. It's 100% their own systems fault.
I would guess they have defined that any address that contains a PO box is invalid and should be rejected for Canadians.
This does not account for towns of 750 people with no mail delivery. The entire town is considered "General Delivery" and as such we require a PO box be assinged to each physical address... which is listed on the government issued documents I submitted. Also appears on all government issued ID, and bank statements.
Our laws actually say that you can not have a corporate HQ without a physical address, but to HQ in my town there is no possible way not to have a PO Box assigned to the physical address, which does itself cause a paradox. But yes in fact my legal HQ for the corporation does in fact have a PO box in it.
So while this does narrow down in my own mind what the issue is, it still does not change that this should already have been corrected.
It still does not account for why I was sent an approval, to be shut down 2 month later without warning, but at least sheds some light.
And yes I am probably one of the few people in the world with this issue. Of the 950 some game studios in Canada like 75% of the people work for the top 6 studios. I am also the only gave dev around for a little ways anyways. Till you get to some of the larger towns around where there might be a few small studios. Most would be in the cities near the hubs in Vancouver and Montreal. Montreal is the closer one and is like 7.5 hours south east of me.
Doing a quick search and the nearest studio to me I could find is 200+ km south of me. They are manly a media company but did release a game in 2013 from the looks So I many very well be the northern most studio in all of Ontario.
Also one last side note that when I was dealing with the hyperwallet issue there was no way to glean the cause of the issue in any way. I was just told to submit the documents, which I did over and over. Me providing them the link to the government website more then likely confirmed that it was not an error in my documents, but in their system leading to the approval.
With this at least giving my brain a satisfactory answer to the why this happened I can move on. Regardless of the outcome now I know the reasons behind it, or think I do and that is all that matters to me lol.

What's with the "Invalid Manifest" issue when installing certain packs from the fab plugin. I don't want to use the epic launcher because they broke the categories and it's shit now but I can't download stuff from the fab plugin either. So now I need to like, do the filtering in fab and manually look up the name in the epic games vault to download through the launcher
I believe they don't transfer over. You need to claim them in FAB before 2025 if you want to get them for free. They added a claim button to claim all of them. Now the issue is, that button only claims them. You will own it but not have it in your vault so to add them in the vault, you need to go to the pack you want and manually add it to the vault.

I had a couple foreign people steal my footstep solution, it sucked but in my case since I didn’t patent the design and they technically made their own code I could not do anything but in this case it’s a easy fix, just report it and it will be taken down so I would not be too concerned if it happened to me since it won’t be up for long.
I bought the stolen footstep plugin because it looked exactly like mine just with some variable renames, he used a little different code. Mine is still better though but he did price his at like 5 bucks so he probably takes a lot from me
I'm not sure how it would work with functionality, but surely you can claim that there are way too many similarities in how it's functioning if say, 90% of it is basically a copy and paste?

True, mine is still better, it has more features so it still sells some. Oddly enough it’s selling more on fab than it did the marketplace.
I would need ownership of the design though and I don’t, I ended up finding some obscure Reddit post 3 years before I published that did something similar with blueprints though. So I guess the idea is not exclusively mine and others have had it. Mine was still the first on the marketplace to implement that solution though.
Basically it tracks feet without needing notifies on your animations, so it’s plug and play and works with any animation.
Mine supports camera shakes, particles with Niagara, decals with slope adjustment and foot inversion, and sounds with multiplayer support and lots of optimization so you can use it on NPCs and such.
His was just Niagara, sounds, and decals but he didn’t have foot inversion I don’t think, first person support, camera shakes, or physical material support.
Ultra dynamic sky helped boost playtime a little bit by using it for a Christmas update. I guess people like events in games a couple times a year.
my bet is that between two halfway similar products, the one with better presentation will outsell the one with more features

Hey, so uh, I'm a bit concerned here.
The UE marketplace has been my livelihood keeping me afloat for the last couple of years essentially. Now with the move to fab, I checked the sales report and... if I'm reading this right, I usually got 0.5 to 3 sales per day, with more during special sales. It's been like this for years. And then I got a single sale on Fab October 28, and that's it. Nothing after that.
I'm not sure, I thought that maybe the sales report on publish.unrealengine.com was bugged from moving over the systems to Fab and that's why it hasn't reported anything after October 28?
Or could it really be that way? That my sales just drove straight off a cliff into the abyss? I thought for sure at least I'd sell something with the special sale on Fab where I set my products to be 70% off.
Could any of you please let me know if you can see sales after October 28 on your sales report?
Are you charging more for the professional tier? Most sellers(outside the famous ones) are reporting a loss of sales after changing pricing from how the marketplace was. I’ve been selling really well on fab with almost 90 units for November because I have price parity.

All of my products I've removed from my FTP I used for file link, and I can't even press confirm after selecting 5.5 in the list of Supported Engine Versions unless the file link is valid. It's the same file as before, so they shouldn't need to download it again...

But I see the amount corresponds to the Oct period in the "Payout Report" tab.
I've never had it be this delayed though, like it says 29th november, and the others have all been showing up on Hyperwallet on the same date as they're listed on that payment report page, while this one hasn't shown up now 5 days later but yeah I'll give it some more time I suppose.
If you set the professional tier license higher than the personal, and you don't see any sales, then why doesn't Epic just get rid of that license? They don't verify your income, so anybody can just click Personal license. And does anybody know if the Fab search algorithm will place your stuff lower than others if your prices vary? I'd like to know.
Well sellers can sue if you purposely buy the wrong one, so epic may not verify but it allows for legal action.
The reason they have it is because sellers kept asking epic for tiered pricing but customers don’t like it. It’s gonna become one of those things were you either have hubris and die of no income or you serve your customers and continue to make money. I think in some cases like dekogon where the pricing is only a 10-20 dollar difference it’s fine but there are sellers charging 2-10x the personal price for it and those will have trouble selling unless they have a marketing machine.
And no epic does not lower your search rankings but I’m pretty sure it shows both prices in search so customers may avoid clicking if they see exorbitant pricing.
lol, how many buyers make over 100k? I'd looooove to know. I was under the impression that most buyers aren't in that income bracket, so they could just click the Personal button. Easy as pie! But as long as there is no official data from Epic then everything we talk about here is just speculation. I'll try setting equal prices on my next project just to test it out but I'm not holding my breath. Nobody knows that I even exist, lol.
not very many fab users make a lot of money but that doesnt prevent confusion, my products have price parity and its a 50-50 split on whether someone buys the professional tier even if they dont need it.
its also just a bad look to have unfair pricing even if it doesnt directly affect the person, most entrepenuers would like to be making over 100k a year and if they see someone being unfair to their goals then they wont want to support you

I am curious would you all think it would be easier and less confusing if before you enter fab it asks the user if they make over 100k, and then only show the professional license if yes and only show personal if no. It may help with the confusion and would show accurate prices for the license you want while browsing
the percentage of people choosing a professional license over a personal one depends on the type of content you're selling (assuming there are different prices for each). If both licenses are priced the same, I would have assumed 100% of buyers would opt for the professional license, like you said, only Epic can provide that kind of info.

Do you have a modern PC and are you using the latest version? Epic did major overhauls to the codebase for it in 2023 to make it faster and use less resources
I have an i9-14900f (no issues so far thankfully), 32gigs of ram, a 4070. I'd say that's pretty modern
One thing I wish fab had was account switching, my seller account and personal account with assets and unreal engine licenses are different. I have to logout and login every time. It’s annoying

I had to open the product I want to install in the browser, then use the "Open In Launcher" button to force it to load in epic games, then install it

Even thought you made a product sale that previous day, the sales report lists it as having happened two days ago.
It was more obvious the difference when the old publisher sales report was still updating. The dates it lists for when a product had sold would be different than what FAB reported.

If I were to guess, I would say that button or key re-binding would be a gameplay feature, but not a gameplay mechanic. I assume a mechanic is an ability or system that a player can use to progress in a game. And a feature is something that helps indirectly. That's just my guess though

Yeah, everybody has had different results with that approach. Until Epic Games gives official numbers and data about this then it's just speculation.
For me, I literally just started a week ago so all I can say is what others have done and written on Reddit, Epic forums, and Discord.
The experience and opinions of everybody varies.
Took a look at your asset and the main issue I see is the presentation. If you went from 3 sales to 1 sale , it kind of hints at that. Its already a pretty niche category of asset , and having it under shooter wont help much with that. You should 1. price it lower. 2. Change all of those thumbnails 3. Make a video to demonstrate what you asset offers ( as soon as you get your parts ) 4. It looks cheap how the Melee character holds his bat for example , tighten all of that stuff up. ( photo included for example) and 5, consider changing the category you have it currently lised under and 6. If you want to keep the price the same especially , after the cleanup add more. Then you might get more sales IF there are people still buying this type of asset at this point. Currently I wouldn't buy it as it is , looks very cheap honestly .
Hey, we're starting to sell assets on FAB but unsure of what a good price point is.. or more importantly how much it actually converts too after all fees are taken into account, anyone got any ideas of what kind of payment they expect per single asset sold?
We're focusing on realistic looking assets and provide high, mid & low poly versions with every assets, right now we're charging $6.99 but after fees and conversion from USD to GBP it works out around £4.75(ish).. is it too low/too high? what's a good way to gauge what an asset is worth? any ideas?

taxes/vat are charged on top of the price so they don't affect your revenue per sale
look at what alternatives your buyers would consider:
- if there are no alternatives, charge more
- if there are alternatives, maybe make something different!
orbital market can help you find what the most popular items in your category are, which gives you a sense of what quality/price people expect

Yeah we haven't taken into account the sales stuff yet since FAB hasn't got the functionality yet, also notice that almost every asset similar to ours doesn't offer a high, mid & low poly versions and almost all of them are quite low poly in general

I wish fab offered more analytics lol I personally think the scene image thumbnail stands out more in a sea of 'x colour background' images but i dont know if that means anything or whether buyers actually prefer the 'x colour background' images over scene image as the thumbnail

Then aim for making an image you feel you want to click on more than the competition.

Just look at the gaming industry, etc. Some AAA games spend 30%+ of their budget on marketing alone.
You should at least allocate 20-30% of the time spent making your product, on "packaging it" (making it sell)

I see this thumbnail as something that would sell to someone who already knows what they want. Usually a tech expert. Have you seen advertising by AWS, for example? Their thumbnails are boring as hell, but that's a completely different industry and they make billions. In this industry, however, I honestly don't know yet because Fab doesn't give you much information to look at. I mean, we don't even who's looking at our pages ffs!
I can say for sure though that Pickup Weapons animation looks kind of wonky. Perhaps you should have the mannequin squatting down instead of bending over like that?

The thumbnails aren’t very big, remember that. You can think about it as a YouTube thumbnail. It must be easy to understand and should only contain very few text. The current text ist way to small to read. The thumbnail just should put attention towards your product.

Your asset I'm sure is inspired by games like Superhot, so take reference of how they create their thumbnails. The selling point of your product is the slo-mo mechanic, this would be harder to depict in an image, but at its core your product is a shooter, so I would recommend playing into that when you create your thumbnail

Good quality screenshots, decriptions, and thumbnails may result in it appealing to an audience that isn't only looking for a "slo-mo shooter template". Increasing your chance of a sale

For the price you could just experiment with different price ranges and then find the sweet spot. There are other guys on here who have said before that cheaper prices doesn't always mean more sales.
Hmm , i thought i was pretty clear they are not the same , but Replication is more work on the backend , Im not vouching for either of the assets as if they are correctly done or not because i dont own either. it was more a comparison if his costing 3x more than another template that offers replicated features in a template form. In short his current asset shouldn't be more than 40$ by that logic. Blueprint assets that are not replicated are extremely easy to make unless they are very complex. That was more my point.Most people would just do that themselves , so you have to make it a value. ]

The more I think on the tier system, I don't think its the price that freaks people out its more visually and UX.
That dropdown is kind of crap in terms of it feels like you are picking two bad options and need to take time and study to make sure you aren't overpaying.
CodeCanyon/ThemeForest has a similar system of having a Basic license and a more premium/commercial license. With varying price points and nobody really seems to mind it.
The first two are from CodeCanyon, WAY easier to understand and less scary. I KNOW how much I'm paying and what I'm receiving.

I think the sample is too small as well, but you are also dividing people's options by having "i like it" and "there should be more tiers" and "other" because I agree with all three of those options
Speaking for me personally if I didn't fully trust Tim/Epic in general I would be contacting plugin/asset devs directly to buy their assets. This site just really turns me off.
depends, smaller not-AAA companies might either outsource it or yes buy it. doesnt make that much sense to keep someone in-house occupied for days or a week when you can have someone else do it
studios can and do buy assets. no, they are probably not buying "multiplayer shooter template" but they do buy props, textures, and sfx
a friend of mine who works at a studio says, basically "yeah we buy a bunch of dekogon"
there are a lot of AA studios that do not have big staffs that can make every little thing, and need to avoid too many technical deep dives
megascans are used by practically every big studio, and they are on fab
something like fluid flux is a massive time sink for an AA studio and i am sure they would much rather put down the dollars to get their water mostly solved

I’ve talked with AA and AAA devs and they use proprietary tech and assets from what they have told me. If it’s something third party it’s something like a rendering engine from the forge or quixel for a render.
There are other reasons to build in house besides cost savings, you also get to design the thing specifically for your projects needs and have internal knowledge of how it works.

my friend's company bought assets for a game with 14 million players. sometimes it just makes more sense. assets are much cheaper than wages. any time you can use an asset without compromising on your game, it's a big cost savings

It's pretty common practice to buy assets and then those big companies have people that customize those assets to fit the theme. Companies like Two Star Games are pretty open about that process. The main lead is on multiple interviews going over his process of buying assets and then touching them up in gimp and then exporting back to unreal. They do make some of their own models but for most cases it isn't worth their time

Is there not a strike system against profiles? It's pretty easy to ensure the profile won't be back because Fab makes you provide proof of identity. Unless they are really good at forging new identities or they are systematically asking all their friends and family for their ID's each time they are banned, I don't see how they can keep coming back
Gotta be realistic, they are most likely using AI for doing most of their profile reviews. Human intervention might be only after a lot of visible public backlash on certain profiles like the above. At least a little fee will make stealing more costly for the scammers, and the fee can be refunded back to the seller if revenue cross a threshold.

It's better than what it was, and I am alright with it but if the seller was able to choose new tiers it would be better for us, although I understand why that would be more confusing to the customer. I think you are allowed to like something but also wish it was better, I dont think those are mutually exclusive options
Krita is mainly for digital painting, I spent a long time doing illustrations so it's the type of thing I'm used to. For gamedev it has a couple of minor drawbacks such as the inability to directly edit alpha channels which can be annoying, on the other hand it has some neat features like a tileable canvas and flowmap/vector brushes

How would the options look like that you'd give to your community then?
The only objective poll I can think of isn't a multiple choice but asking people what a fair price rate increase should be. So they would comment 1x if it should be the same or 2x if it should be double and so on. But you should also remind them that a price increase for professional licenses also equate to price decreases for indie developers. A lot of sellers slightly lowered their prices when the personal tier was announced. So saying both license tiers should be equal cost will result in higher cost for personal tier prices but lower cost for professional. Otherwise it just sounds like you are asking your community if they want to pay less for a product, which is always skewed to yes. When you phrase it in such a way that the seller will be paid the same in the scenario but the proportion per group is the variable that's changing, I feel like you'll get different answers. But that's the thing about statistics is that they can often be misleading. In my example I am skewing it to have more answers be on the favor of higher professional tier prices, so disclosing the way the poll was conducted is just as important as the poll

I can see that my plugin's baseline visibility is back to being low based on the main showcase trailer's youtube analytics. The same video showed high activity during black friday. Even though Fab doesn't show us any analytics, my youtube video seem to serve as a decent replacement at the moment.

how to filter my library by supported engine version?
I used the unity ads plugin before because unity is easier than google in my opinion. I think google requires your game to be live to use ads so the first week likely won’t have income
Looking at the applovin that looks easy to use too. I think the unity ads plugin is easier though. You just set a ID from the web portal into project settings then use the load and show nodes for the ads you want and the plugin does the rest

3 possibilities
- Launcher requires a restart
- Library is not refreshed
- (most common) Your categories are messed up. Make sure "All" is selected
Also it's best not to search while the library refresh button is still spinning, the launcher kinda doesn't like that

i am just waiting for Epic/Tencent to start suing people left and right for using a Standard License asset in a project instead of knowing that there was a hidden fee associated with asset #289198237198223145887573gaw and they would have had to purchased the extended super mega deluxe version between 8:15, and 8:27 on friday the 13th, in order to be able to use it in their project
it is fascinating to me that the websites i opted not to use, because they seemed fully scammy, (ArtStation for example) are the ones that Epic owns now. go figure.
You can use my "https://assetmanager.studio" to download assets/plugins from UnrealMarketplace and FAB easily.
A word of advice to Epic from a regular consumer/customer.. Stop trying to bait me. When i search for Free Standard License VDM Brush on ArtStation, do not tell me "there are 600 free brushes in this pack! Just hit download! Come on! You can do it!" when there is literally one sample brush, then a paid pack that i can use if my project is a failure, then another paid pack that i can get sued for not using if my project is a success.
I will simply not purchase a single thing from your company until you revamp the way you do things.

These are three different static meshes, and the individual pieces of them don't exist separately. It's like.. yeah here's a nice box, which could be opened, but you're gonna have to export this as an FBX, rip it apart in Blender, import it back...

Just as an aside, Unreal's mesh editing capabilities are pretty good nowadays, and you can totally do that in engine with just a couple of clicks. For basic mesh editing, I haven't touched blender for quite some time.

Yeah there's four different static meshes of this same box in different states of being opened but the lid, handle and box parts aren't there so you can't actually animate it
I've seen this in other packs too so I was wondering if I was missing something but I guess it's just the pack authors not really thinking about what they're doing :D

Yes, it is also a launcher. It does do most things the Epic Launcher does properly, plus several things I wanted (and several more being worked on). I'm also sure it has bugs 😉, since it is pretty early in its life.
I tried it on a Linux Debian Trixie at work(which can't run UE itself) and everything worked great.

It is also EXTREAMLY fast. I care a lot about speed. Starts up and is usable in less than a second. D/l's the Asset information in the background to update what it already knows with any new information and processes your local information in the background, so very few things get in the way of you doing things.

Yeah it is lightning fast and just works. Epic Games Launcher takes longer than a minute to load for me. It is already 100 times better than the EGL but one thing would make it 1000 times better. If you could filter for products that have an update available. Or is that already possible?

It can actually have unlimited numbers of vaults, however only the last one will new items be downloaded. And yes it works with the Epic Vault perfectly fine.
I'm pretty sure I check to verify if there is an actual asset in the folder. Never thought about supporting "bare" vaults. I'll add that ability in the future. 😄
