its not that moba's and mmos are dead. its just that the ones in the market are nearly unbeatable because they had insane headstart and shit loads of conent, developed meta and communities
its a fantastic book for a lot of people
i already made moba creeps and players, and added basic networking, but authoritive server for ue4 that isn't just a headless ue4 seems like something that should be possible
whereas story games, even MP and SP are still a good money maker

haha yeah it is a bit full on but thats how the asians like it but it becomes really relaxing
the number of survival games around that people still play

i could build a basic mmo server within 24 hours but its just like when these careless developers like homocide, suicide whoever they were games brought their games out

Month long gamejam hosted by github has started
I like it. For a month long jam, it allows to focus more on a solid product than on a gimick and a weird mechanic.
I was thinking about making a mobile game
in one month it would be possible to make something worth releasing

which breaks hash linking functionality
they're doing some sort of web path tracking with the query params, so I'm guessing whoever linked forgot about that

Last time I checked, Nvidia 3d liquids arent supported on windows 7, which is what I'm using ๐ฆ
starting to use the hotkeys more and more exclusively in blender, getting a bit comfy
@glass fossil elemental lava will probably not help you, I think they used bone animation for is in a vay which isn't really easy to pull of unless you know the modeling tools inside and out
even using alembic would be easier but both ways are pita to get looping seamlessy
if you remember my september jam entry, I just used water textures from engine content and panned it twice at different speeds, both color texture and normal map
that's probably the easiest way to pull it off

That's only necessary if you can't credit them in your project or think you'll be asked by a third party for proof of license.
You can simply download any of the music on the site and credit Purple Planet Music somewhere in the project.

Has anyone implemented a leaderboard system and have a preference for quick and dirty ones? I can set a robust one up on AWS but it'd probably take me all weekend to implement the SDK into the engine.

ive made vertex animated meshes with 65k vertices all overlapping eachother, moving kilometers away
nothing failed

Got a bit distracted with family stuff, but I fished the chicken a little bit ago and now have about 5 animations for it. (talking/dancing/pecking/lean left/lean right) so am about to finalize them and move onto making a game.

have a pretty solid understanding of most of the hotkeys involved in very basic blender modeling and animations so that has already been a big gain
hardly need to go into the menu now
meantime I have been lowpoly modelling, havent done that in a while so its good fun

Hey, anyone know why my pawn collision isn't working? I have a pawn controlled by my player controller which has constant movement input and a block all dynamic collision mesh and collision box. I am trying to collide it with an instance from an instanced static mesh which is set to block all. Any thoughts?

what do you want/expect to happen?
try to collide doesn't really tell if you expect the player to halt or the hit object to move
I would like for my ship (player pawn with floatingpawnmovement component) to impact with objects in my environment
So it should stop the player from moving through it regardless of Movement Input
easiest way to make that all work would be to do all movement with physics forces
if you do it with movement component, I don't think they handle impacts properly
like.. you need to code it yourself when it happens
on both sides, to your pawn and the objects it hits
Hmm. In the past when i've used character movement components it handled it fine
I guess I shouldn't have assumed that the floating pawn movement was hte same?
it probably has additional functionality to push things
CMC had option to toggle that on and off if I remember right
other movement components are more like shells for the things they describe
there's not much functionality in them
I'm not saying the thing is not there, but I kinda doubt it
you could fire impulses to the hit objects though
or if you overlap something
if you just need a quick solution

I might just use overlaps and blow the ship up, but if you're moving slowly into something the player won't like blowing up
