I was doing some Cakewalk stuff last year but I was really missing the midi keyboard element. Instead I was using my computer keyboard and working on really short samples. But once you need to jump an octave or two, you have to stop, record another track, splice the tracks and make sure it's all synced up

1 - melee / no ammo close quarter weapons (fist, swords, blunt weapons, etc.)
2 - ranged / weapons with ammo (guns, bow & arrow, magics)
3 - throwables / weapons that are itself ammo (bombs/grenades, darts, etc.)
Held weapons can be swapped around in the equipment menu

I guess if one can fast enough to hold L1 and flick the thumbstick or pressing the D-pad to swap the active weapon slot
