the only issue I have with windows updates is that it tends to reset all my audio devices to defaults, so I have to reselect which audio devices should be used for what purpose

Idea time you guys obv played csgo, i came up with this idea today for my game, instead of giving like 40 guns you can create a class with like cod in the buy menu in my game you going to be able to select in and out from your games profile before the match starts the guns you want to use in the buy menu, example by default the smg will be a mp5, mp7, but you can change them to a p90 or vector instead but you cant change that preference in game.

im running unreal on an i7-4790k from 8 years ago and it's good enough. GPU is only a 1080ti with 11gb ram for a bunch of texture memory. 32gb ram on the side covers me in other ram cases. I can run UE5 Lyra project with decent fps for what I need to test things.

Pretty much all other software has more than enough power from even older hw so the need to upgrade seems to mostly come from games
(or unless you do stuff like 3d rendering or something)

when the next gen GPU comes out I think I'm going all in on an upgrade but god knows when that is. I could definitely use the RTX stuff and my cpu definitely needs more core.

a friend of mine worked with Varjo on their high-end VR-1 headset for a while and apparently it's seriously good :P

I run an old Vive devkit and it's fine with a 1080ti. Most things I can up the screen percentage too. People aren't making heavy VR games because they are scared it won't perform. Unless they just don't understand how to make a VR game, most things run fine on lower specs. Especially when they make things for standalone.

Vive is similar to Rift in terms of the visual fidelity anyway
but I think for Index a 1080ti might not be quite enough anymore

I'd say the CV2 has better clarity than the rift because it does a better job of avoiding screendoor effect. But once you are in VR for 10 minutes or so, that doesn't matter. It's like playing DooM2. At first the graphics put you off but 10 minutes in, you are immersed.
I run the Vive with a couple of Index controllers. Same thing :p

There's no such thing as a CV2 to my knowledge :) They did an Oculus Go and Quest after the Rift I think but neither was called a CV2, and the Rift S was just Rift S

no there was definitely a CV2. I ran the gauntlet of all the Oculus stuff because we were partnered with them during development. They gave us a DK1, DK2, CV1 and CV2 before we parted ways. Perhaps it was an internal name and they renamed it for commercial use because we were getting development kit editions

In the matrix tech talk they said that there were over 40,000 cars in the city and 38,000 of them were drivable, so perhap some of the cars pack has the undrivable ones in it
I was just looking through some docs on Large Worlds. The old world max, as you probably know, is 21km. When you turn off the world bounds and allow 64bit precision it can go upto 88 million km. Imagine having to make that open world game and place assets manually π
