I once had a 3 year single barrel whiskey. It wasn't bad, if you like rotgut.

but for someone that likes a nice irish whiskey, it'd be trash

I'm partial towards Irish whiskeys too, I do find them much smoother. but if you're not in Ireland, the variety that gets exported is minimal
