Yeah, unfortunately there isn't really any work around. Not without modifying the engine anyway. There is also issues with some blueprint nodes having a background slate color of grey. So instead of fading events from Red to a darker red, they faded to grey. I bug reported it but it was given the "wont fix" by Epic.
Guess they weren't expecting anyone to modify their slate images :p
