Godots in the same exact position as blender is, but fast-tracked. Godot has pushed for faster render engine side tech, but the entire engine seems from my perspective as just somewhat strapped together and trying to be a competitor as fast as it can.
Do not get me wrong, Godot is doing some seriously cool tech right now. But it is at most, a half finished engine, no one would turn to it to ship a full release title on it right now.
I will be still following it, Godot seems to be making cool stuff - but they are in the same world that Blender 1.8 was in. No one trusted it, No one wanted to work with it. And didn't trust their tools unless they were open source.
So that's my two cents.

so i figured... this asset has two showcase levels, one called "not optimized"
the normal one is the same but with a ton of the same actors merged to one static mesh, where each has >100k tris
and can't make use of LOD because it spans across a large area and so screensize is pretty much always loading LOD0 😄
also, complex as static collision for those merged meshs :>

The thing about the c# compiler is it does almost nothing for you in terms of identifying things it can improve on

If your not writing code with lines of ICollection.Add and ICollection<int>.Add I mean your losing performance
That gain c# talks about is the one your bypassing by not caring
So why use c#

If string in c# was a value type that was reference counted instead of garbage collected a majority of the flaws with performance would go away. But the thing is the foundational stuff of .net isn’t always designed to be less garbage emitting

Well am saying it’s a flawed way to go about it. Like the argument for c# is: I don’t care about performance and I like writing code in this way that is small and minimalistic, but unnecessarily type strong and generic
