i made one that lets you initiate combat between two NPCs

You can do weird shit that won't break it

or mark vehicles as essential with the pin so that you wont lose it when a cutscene plays or you load a save

so u can own a big truck or police car as a vehicle

whats funny is even if the areas arent loaded sometimes NPCs still spawn

if you teleport near the area where you have the johnny cutscenes

usually its OOB with some floating NPCs

also one thing thats incredibly stupid about the game

even if u beat it u cant go to the other side of the border

u just blow up instantly

theres actually stuff to collect there if u missed it

its pretty easy

basically just climb onto the top of the wall somehow, usually with bike jumps or katana glitch

then walk across in the direction of the solar panels

UE grooms are troublesome at times too. anisotropy and mental physics are just two problems. But they are both strand based systems so technically they are the same. Only difference is the lighting support

you can work magic with hair cards for sure, plus you have the stability of the physics and they can have materials per card instead of per strand with a hair shader

but most hair cards are made with stability and optimisation in mind

interpolated strands are the same in the other engines too

to see the strands of the hair it was something i have rarely seen anywhere

cuz most engines just use basic cards not strands

especially for dense hair

the irony of that is they use the strand system to bake images to make the hair cards

@light spruce me too. I was all over GT4 for years. Didn't play a racing game properly again until Forza Horizons 4. It was worth the wait. It helped that it was designed around England and Scotland so it felt like home. At one point I travelled to Derwentwater where I used to live and hung out on the barges we used to get drunk on. I just found a solution to the Logitech software being stuck on loading

Especially after it auto updates

Simply gotta turn off task manager and process explorer, since they block services from being deleted

Well that’s the challenge. It’s breaking that line of thinking where everything you can make is rational and based on earth. That’s sort of why I was a little bummed that 90% of the aliens in mass effect were humanoid. I mean yeah, there’s a good chance that can occur, statistically, but it’s also far more likely that majority of life evolving outside of earth would be bound by different rules so even if a sentient race evolves somewhere far far away, I sincerely doubt they would resemble anything like a human. It’s just an exercise of thinking of some rather fucked up forks in the evolutionary path. Which is why I’ve recently taken up reading pretty much anything I can find on evolution and how the environment affects it. Which means that if I want to find a decent representation of an alien, I have to think up a planet for them, think about the atmosphere, surface, composition, gravity, then figure out how the food chain works and what are other factors, just to give me an idea of what fucked up creature I can dream up while still staying in the realm of kind-of-believable

yeah unfortunately you still need to make it so its understandable, it'd be easy to make up some alien language no one knows then do no sort of auto-translation. It is possible to still go well outside what we see far too often into new territory but many franchises especially new ones play it really safe, there are ways to use old tropes in more interesting ways, like the necromancy in Game of Thrones its used as a very clever plot device. I just look at some games and while they are trying to be different they end up just leaning too heavily on overused themes, its not that those themes are bad just that there is no thought to how they combine to make an interesting universe and thats what you need to do to really stand out.

Yeah for sure. A lot of stuff has to come together and be just right for a game to be interesting. I’ve seen some games that look really polished, but the story is so banal that it deadens the gameplay. Actually funnily enough I’ve been watching lots of shitty indie horror game playthroughs recently and I found myself to be FAR more forgiving of crap graphics when the story is good and consistent.

Almost like my brain forgives the crap visuals and makes me think they’re “old school” and “novel” so long as the story carries the game. Funny that.

Alot of film critics even call it out in movies, narrative exposition is typically used when the writing is bad, if the writing and direction are good you dont really need it.

Ha don’t worry, if the new guardians of the galaxy is anything to go by - the voice dialogues are gonna surpass that annoyance level. During the gameplay demo the team wouldn’t shut the hell up. Just constant yapping. I wanna try that game, but if I can’t shut them up I might scream

Farcry 5 was insanity, I cant believe its even possible to be talked at by 4 different people at once

thing is having those ear mics doesnt mean you have to use em, real combatants know to keep the channel clear for important information, not only that but you dont know who is listening in

Vermintide 2 somehow manages to do it well, the characters will break out into little stories on occasion but its never during combat

God of War did it well too, you got sections on the canoe but they dont make you walk and talk, it just starts telling the story and if you reach a break point it has voice for suspending the story for another time

It's mostly depends on how much math you have to do, which depends on the size of your model's weights.

lots and lots of matrix multiplication, the real issue is that we don't have a production ready platform for machine learning. Doing inference in-engine (not in python) is completely possible, but a real pain in the ass from my experience.

You have a few NN platforms to pick from, most of them being locked down to CUDA. Pytorch has AMD support but shipping with CUDA/cudnn and the AMD libraries really bloats your product.
