last time I had to do that I used windows "imaging tool", created an image of my C drive. Plugged in the new drive and installed windows (basically just copies the data over) from the created image file

I was meaning optimization in the core of the engine itself. I mean: will an squared terrain with fauna e flora with animations and scripting happening (like birds catching fruits and eating them etc.) this kind of emulation is better in Unreal than Godot?
I really want a simple game in terms of shaders and stuff, just simple lights and models made with less polygons. I do not want fancy particles floating around a squared creature..
uh and going for a Linux exclusive is too bad idea? I read that different distributions have different bugs so it narrows more the scope of people consuming the game, because I really do not feel installing Debian, Arch and other obscure Linux-modified-kernel and debugging all, since I barely understand what a {function} means.
And any opinions on DirextX vs. Vulkan based on future?

If you barely understand the basics you should learn them rather than dropping down into deep optimization topics. Make a fun game, do not get lost in the shiny tech features.

Well I did not mean optimization topic talk, maybe I did expressed myself poorly, this one may fit better: out of the box, which will be more performant for a open-world simulation Godot or Unreal?
For real, fancy stuff bores me. Cartoon and other art styles that escapes photorealism for me is the thing. If I want beautie reality I rather go trek or hike in a national park...
But I do i think I understand the more realistic a engine can be, more optimized it is. At least It is what I do think! So that is why I am asking if Godot does the job! Because looking at the default of both, Godot really looks a game rather than a beautiful simulated real light out-of-the-box like Unreal.
I am passionate about the idea of free stuff. I am proposing (to myself) spending a whole year and even a bit of months more developing a 100% free game. If it is good enough I will ask donations in a small corner of my website!

Low or high poly is not the question, it is ease of use, features, and power
If you are making low poly models in the first place the engine does not matter, all engines will perform better with less polygons on screen

And plus, if there is too much distros on Linux making it quasi a debug for various OS a thing when dev. I just will use this license key sitting here of Windows...

It is up to you whether you like the idea of FOSS or shipping a game more. I tend to avoid religion myself when it comes to expressing my creativity. If your goal is building up FOSS then go that route, but you need to make tradeoffs and decisions to get things done.

I don't stream in 2k while working on 4k video. If I did I would have definitely asked about something so specific. My main work is rendering. If the 3080's 10g is a handicap and stops the processor on the card from being utilised to its capacity then that would be bad of course

easy. In Blender, you add a Particle system and set it to Hair -> Strands. Then tweak it, export as Alembie (.abc) file and import to UE4. Then create a new Groom asset, set the alembic reference in the asset. Add it to a Groom Component on your mesh and voila . Tweak from there.

@quasi loom I would always go with intel as personally they've always had better reliability to me. I do wonder if they'll be around for much longer though after apple have basically undercut them with their own CPU's. Buy and large intels stronger individual threads and hyperthreading technology beats amds more numerous but weaker ones. I would always go with intel if you're looking at anything high intensity

they cant go anywhere with government investments anyway. It would be like ARM dropping off. Just wont happen. But in terms of what they are useful for, I think the tide had changed. Being that more gamers are becoming game devs and more game devs are using more cores, it makes sense that the cheaper, quicker option is on the table for some time to come yet.

yeah and hyperthreading is only useful in specific cases. It's not like everything uses it
